A quick sketch of my proposed main antagonists.
I know its a lil sloppy but like I said its a quick sketch, maybe an hour or so.
ANYWAY, this character is a rather twisted take on a boy’s faith, I’ll spare the details till I get the plot completely figured out. But this creature will have a major impact on the MC’s life.

No the MC’S ginary is variable. Color species/type skin/covering. Though the majority will be at least semi bidedal. Just the ‘others’ will be set
By the by the ‘angel’ is someone ‘elses’ ginary.

I kind of like the thought of not knowing whether your imaginary friend is truly evil or not, like if you truly don’t know it’s intentions. Maybe you should make pike a variety of imaginary friends based on the background the pc chooses?
Trying to think up some good ideas to help at least somewhat instead of just demanding more content, as fans are known to do. Don’t feel pressured to do what I say… but if you do feel pressured, tell me so I can work towards harnessing any abilities I may or may not have.

Lots of ambiguity is good with this topic.
Though the girl wouldn’t be a PC but rather an NPC antogonist.like the guy with the angel, enemy and possible ally based on decisions made.
The main characters friend is going to be custom… well as custom as I can manage to make it. Although I’m going to throw in some twists to keep the relationship edgy.
Dunno why that parts under a ‘removed’ by author thing??

You might just want to repost, because as far as the ‘girl’, I have no clue who your talking about.
When you mentioned “dark, twisty psychological experience” I immediately thought to “Beyond Two Souls”. It kinda has the same premise of “imaginary friend turns out to be real” but with a creepy undertone.
The friend also mimics the MC’s moral personality in which you can be good or evil and your friend will also do the same since they have a bond with you.
If you haven’t played the game then I recommend you watch a playthrough on Youtube and maybe you can incorporate some of those ideas into your story.
For this story, would it be possible to have a “good” MC with an “evil” imaginary friend or vice versa?

I have its a very good game. Though I’ve a slightly different aim in how I go about it. A Lil more back and forth between you and your FRIEND.
As per the evil angle that’s entirely possible. The bond works in a way of how they feel about each other. A ginary represents elements of their hosts mind, likely the strongest feelings desires.
But I’ve mentioned the amount of control over your ginary/friend will depend on how you’ve treated them and the strength of yours and it’s emotions. In a worst case scenario the ginary will turn on you and could possibly… take over.

If I piss off my ginary and it possesses me, I think writing those scenes in third person will add some flavour.
Just an idea 
We’ll see its a long way off as it stands.
But it’s certainly a valid suggestion.
