We've locked the Aura Clash thread for blatant racism

Just as a note: the rule extends to subreddits or Discords for example that you, the author run. We are not asking for you to police every single chat room, subreddit, or Discord dedicated to your IP.

We are asking that if you decide to have one that you made, that you police it.

It’s not what he’s doing there that is the problem from what I read. It’s what he’s encouraging his followers to do on this forum from discord. Also, I think having those types of views shouldn’t be encouraged anywhere personally but that’s just my opinion based on morality.

EDIT: Based on the comments from some people here, if you don’t agree with the ban, you condone, are actively spreading, or currently have these sorts of views. Your moral compass is not calibrated.

Drama aside, I’ll miss his game and it’s sad it’s come to this point.

“We don’t want that kind of behavior here and we don’t want anyone that accepts that kind of action in our community.”

“You’re such a tyrant I didn’t have any problem with that server the REAL problem is with you policing it.”

It’s like shooting fish in a barrel with some of you people, jesus christ.

Wow, I wouldn’t never guessed the open channer and his openly channer audience that he openly built on 4chan would’ve had racism. Crazy, I’m so shocked about this revelation.
Bluntly that thread was always really awful, particularly with the less than subtle but never direct homophobia, I’m actually surprised that nothing’s been done sooner, especially once it was made explicit that they did start over there. I mean, he had outright confirmed it years ago, and like that thread was always a slur away from directly being taken from the board. It was never subtle, but I suppose you can’t totally police thought crimes even from shit like that.

And for the channers bitching about this and how it’s done by a power mad staff infringing on his and his like’s freeze peach, this is CoG’s site. They’re totally in their moral right to keep people out they don’t want to associate with. They can’t stop him from making his wack game, they can’t keep him from using their coding language (unless he goes to sell the game), but they can make sure that sort of audience, who goes wildly against the politics of CoG, don’t have a space here on their own damn forum.

No no this is an excellent place to find all the hit dogs hollering.

Eh, I think it’s pretty damn different. He was never spreading hate back then (at least not that I recall at all) nor cultivating (pun unintended) an audience that did so. He was edgy and a bit of a dick to people at the time of getting the temp ban, sure, but that’s still very different. Plus he’s doing a lot better mentally now, it seems, so again I would say very different. And like his ban had nothing to do with that story, it was creating a sockpuppet to post a different story under.
I would struggle to believe this guy if he ever came back proclaiming he’s past his bigoted shitlord phase, but I doubt he’d ever come back to begin with.

Are you a minority? 'Cause it was obvious. Whole thing reeked, even without knowing about the no-gays and plausible dog whistling coding. Lol yeah okay I see your comment is bad faith at best, gay or not. One of them conservative types who’s never experienced a discrimination or hate crime. Hilarious to be the one saying “check your privilege” like it’s 2016 under a SJW Owned compilation, really yelling your politics out loud there

The guy was banned from the forum because of discord? This makes no sense at all, the mods are abusing their power.

He was banned for persistent and open racism on his discord, and because CoG does not want to be associated with racists.

It’s like how a company might fire you if you’re racist on social media, or how a business might refuse you service if you’re wearing nazi iconography.

Even after removing the links, his discord doesn’t exist in a vacuum and it would have cost him nothing to police the remarks made in this post, or to appoint mods who could.

Iunno. I don’t think fish are as eager to self-report as some of the people in this thread.

I mean, it doesn’t really free cultivator-anon from how HE acted, and he had still allowed Li Kee to say those things to begin with, so yeah

If so, it should not be linked to on here.

RIP :sob::sob: I guess there’s gonna have to be a new place for AC fans, any word about that or the discord itself opening up?

If Mother Mass Murderer’s author can make some kind of comeback I won’t rule it out, but I’m going to miss tf outta seeing you around here, Aura Clash. Still gotta meme it:

low-key side-eyeing you hard right now, that was the exact same screenshot cultivator had posted on reddit during his meltdown :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Feel like we shoulda seen this coming from the guy who refused to code in skin choice, but made a secondary race that’s literally just “white person.”

Or had a devil race and for some reason made sure to mention they control the banks.

rip bozo

I don’t think this thread should be locked. That will only make the forum stifling to any genuine discussion. So far this thread completely civil.

And I completely agree with this new rule. Posting links to groups that endorse behaviors against the forum rules should get me in trouble just as posting it to illegal sites would.

However if cultivator had already removed the Discord link then he didn’t break this new rule even if it applied retroactively(shouldn’t be the case).

And the stated reason for his ban is completely oblique, if you don’t want certain people on the forum just say it, don’t skirt around it.

If you get banned for what he did, I’ll go and explain what it means. It means that we’ve had multiple conversations about what to do with you as a user and escalated it up to COG staff members who then had to take time away from their various duties to discuss what to do with you.

So now we’re creating specific rules to retroactively ban people we don’t like for breaking that rule? There’s no better definition of abuse of power than that.

Accidentally hit the send button early whoops. Ahem.

I don’t really have any skin in this game. Aura Clash never appealed to me, never engaged with the community, didn’t know the discord existed, etc.

The screenshots posted are obviously horrible. Anon obviously shouldn’t have let stuff like that go unabated. I feel these are uncontroversial statements, to say the least.

While there are understandable arguments to be made that this is being applied retroactively, the ban was for taking up too much mod time, not for the newly created rule. Personally I think ‘taking up too much of our time’ isn’t an amazing ban reason, but it isn’t a retroactive one. There is also a reasonable argument that Anon had made it very clear he wasn’t going to moderate the place, so he shouldn’t be punished for what he washed his hands of.

But come on. It was a server dedicated to his game. He was the owner, he wasn’t ignorant of what was happening, and what was happening is awful. We can’t blame the staff for taking action against someone who willingly permitted many people to say some horrible stuff.

Association with vile stuff isn’t as vile as the stuff itself, but it still is something that warrants censure.

Sorry if this is sanctimonious, I felt like chipping in. Frankly its the first event like this I’m present for.

Finally, since I for one am definitely not an Anon alt account lol, I feel its safe for me to say that Leekyo/Li Kee turning around and going ‘Wow they’re seething in the Discord’ while also demonstrably having been dropping slurs in that same Discord is uh … pretty shitty behavior. It’s hypocritical, and if Anon is being banned simply for overseeing this cesspit, I think direct participation in that pit warrants the same treatment.

I’ll uh, stop the TedTalk now. Apologies for the wall. I hope this whole thing will have taken a turn for the better when I check in tomorrow.

Edit 1 - (Shhh I know its 4 thats from me accidentally dropping it early)

Ok I know I was gonna check in tomorrow but:

How can you look at a bunch of slur ridden screenshots with all sorts of degenerate crap, including the N-word being spammed for Christ sake, and go ‘ah yes, this is an ego trip’

That’s deluded AF

Certainly was not on my bingo card when I woke up, but I can’t say I didnt have second thoughts myself, people with a “anon” in their name tend to usually lean in a certain direction. Still, always noteworthy when such a large wip gets blasted, doubly so when in a rather blatantly justified manner. I couldn’t in good faith say its just the fact you should moderate your own owned forums related to the wip, but its also the fact he was certainly personally aware of and seemingly encouraged it with his own posts.

Now I can’t speak for all the information provided in the thread as some of it isnt substantiated in the thread, like raids or harassments, but its rather clear that this was a long time coming. A shame since I did have fun with AC. Hopefully new authors can fill in the gap now suddenly form with better and more open projects. I just hope this situation passes over as quickly as it should given how open and shut it is.
