Interesting. After a quick look in the codes, it depends on your friendship points with the others, if you have more than 9 with N and F and 11 with M, outvoting A and the latter will agree to splitup. Otherwise, they will go along A’s plan.
Nice setup by the author on this. I really love how the author decide to incorporate this in her story.
I hate to break it to you, but it’s not a throuple, nor was it ever advertised as such; it’s a love triangle. Those are not the same thing (and they’re both different from a V-poly, which is YET another thing). I presume it’s only getting resolved in Book 7, not that I’m ever touching that route to find out.
I think Book 3 required a lot more polishing than it ended up getting. It’s not a bad story, though. After all, I did read through it thrice and still enjoyed myself. It still feels like I’m just getting dragged through a story, but that’s Wayhaven for you, so I won’t complain. There’s some stuff that haven’t been fully addressed from the previous books, but this is a 7-part series so it will probably appear soon. It has good romance, a funny joke or two, decent character development, etc. I got through it without any issue just by speccing out brawns. Overall, not bad.
Oh, thank you!
Perhaps that was my problem.
I couldn’t import saves from previous book, so I just had to create a new detective and pick important moments and one best friend.
I was just about to ask if anyone else was having troubles with importing book 2 saves, I just replayed B2 and went to start B3 and it’s only showing my B1 save
yea, i forgot to edit my comment but for some reason it just took longer for the saves to appear then it did for book 1. i went to bed and checked again the next day and the saves were there
So, before I head into Book Three tonight, I thought I might as well follow up on this!
I was surprised by how much I loved Wayhaven! Based on everything I’d heard, I figured it would be reasonably entertaining, but a little too Twilight for my tastes. So much of the discussion about the games seems to focus on the love interests, I sort of thought the mystery elements would fade to the background, and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of investigation I got to do. I’ve been a fan of prodecural thrillers much longer than of paranormal romance, and although I would have preferred stronger (and more accurate) procedural elements in Wayhaven, I had a lot of fun poking around trying to solve the mystery, especially in the first book. I also found myself charmed by many of the side characters.
The format took some getting used to. I haven’t read much first-person interactive fiction before, so it feels a little less natural to project myself into the main character. I have very mixed feelings about the third-person interludes; they offer enjoyable perspective on the characters, but part of me wonders what it would have been like to get some of the big revelations at the same time my character did.
Okay, you probably want to know how I feel about the members of Unit Bravo, right? It took me a while to warm up to Felix, and I still haven’t entirely warmed up to Mason. I liked Adam and Nate right away, but I wasn’t sure which I was going to choose (or if I was going to do the love triangle thing) until right before I had to decide on Book One. Fortunately, Nate had just made kissy faces at a dog over breakfast, which settled it in my mind. Then, when I got to Book Two and got to sit with Nate in his library of antique tomes and hand books to each other in a disconcertingly sensual manner, I knew I had made the right choice!
Although Wayhaven isn’t quite one of my top-tier favorites, I’m definitely on board as a fan and excited to see what comes next. I was also inspired to buy one of Mishka Jenkins’s non-interactive novels. I got it just the other day. It looks like just the thing next time I’m in the mood for something frothy and fun.
After that CDLC Mega Man X thing, my next target is Wayhaven style Mega Man Battle Network. There’ll be more viruses to bust, of course. This is going to be fun!
