On one hand I like it when bosses are actually competent (and extra points for being a woman!) but it would require everyone else to be competent too to land properly.
I thought it was a poli option….. I was disappointed ngl lol
It’s weird to me how long it’s been since there is a discussion in here! I just played through the demo, am I crazy for thinking that M feels kind of out of character? I don’t know, from what I remembered M was still in denial about their feelings and our MC was allowed to be frustrated over feeling as though they aren’t being seen or respected. The current iteration of the couple feels very… unmussed. In general the main character feels so desperate. It’s kind of affronting lol.
Also, since there is no one to officially post the most recent link I will provide it below:
Maybe because there is not much to discuss. People have discussed or complained enough already.
Thanks! I’ve edited the first post with the correct link.
I’ve only played the first two chapters. How is it going? It’s getting better now?
Not that weird and in a way i consider it from the last time i played the demo darn near the entire thing being a affront on some level lol
Honestly, it annoys me that M is still stupid. My MC’s bff is Adam. Near the end of b3, when M comes out of the MC’s room and runs into MC’s bff, the conversation with A-bff indicated M knows how they feel and are simply afraid the MC may not feel the same.
Here’s the conversation:
His gaze shifts to the bedroom door before flicking back to Mason. “I came to ensure Nadezhda was able to sleep. I see you have done that already.”
Mason nods, leaning against the wall of the hallway. “She’s asleep.”
Worry still creeps its way across Adam’s features, so Mason sighs.
“She’s fine. Or will be, anyway.” He drags his fingers through his hair. “She’s been through way too much shit.”
“Agreed,” Adam states, a frown dragging his brows down. “The worst part is I am unsure that it will get any better for her.” He nods at Mason. “I am relieved to know she has you.”
“She has all of us,” Mason replies.
Adam arches a brow. “Of course. But you know that I did not mean it in the same way.”
“I know.” A small smile catches Mason’s lips. “Let’s just hope she’s as relieved to have me too.”
The team leader rests a warm hand on Mason’s shoulder, but only for a brief moment before pulling it away. “That is something you will have to ask for yourself.”
“It’s a shame I’m too much of a fucking coward to find out then, isn’t it?” He chuckles, but it’s weak and hollow. Fearful, almost.
Adam sighs. “I cannot say I would be any braver, so it is not something I can advise you on.”
This is markedly different from the conversations with N or F, where M gets annoyed at their prodding and poking (especially F) and resists admitting anything or even thinking on it. In fact, Mishka even said on tumblr (or patreon, I can’t remember which) that M is “realizing their feelings” faster with one bff route (clearly A, given the above). That, however, has clearly been dropped, and M will “realize” at a specific time (very end of b4 or sometime in b5), no matter who MC’s bff is or what MC does.
I honestly think having M take the shot at the end of b3 was a mistake. If she intended M to realize quicker with A-bff, then fine… let M take the shot and look at the MC like they did, but then let b4 start with M being more about “I’m afraid of this shit” than “DURRRRPP! I’m a fucking moron and forgot I basically said I’ve fallen for MC a few weeks ago! DUHHHH!”. If she wanted to keep M stupid, let M be stupid in N-bff and F-bff routes, with M not taking the shot and looking at the shot, conflicted, looking at MC and almost taking it, then looking at N/F (who would be looking at M with some obnoxious, “I knew it!” face), and putting the glass down and walking away. Then the stupidity at the start of b4 makes more sense.
I’d say it feels disconnected, more than unmussed. On the one hand, M is acting like a SO to some extent (the coffee/tea/drink on the roof), but in others is still being an asshat. Clearly, M doesn’t trust the MC considering they immediately got mad and assumed the MC tried to hurt them after UB shows up where they were with Li’sar and the dead dude.
That’s not the behavior of someone who is falling in love or actually trusts the MC at all. M is the only one of UB to jump to the conclusion that MC hurt them on purpose and somehow managed to hide they can use magic the whole time they’ve known each other.
I agree with this. MC is pathetic and desperate for M, while M is just like, “whatevs, sweetheart” and goes about their merry way (I get the feeling M is very “out of sight, out of mind” with MC.
The M path still feels very one-sided, in many respects. And emotionally abusive, given all the conflicting signals MC receives from M (much like the A route). But I don’t think we’re supposed to like M or their route, to be honest. The rampant support of M after b3 came as too much of a surprise (seemingly unpleasant, IMO) to the author. I suspect b4 will show M in a bad or boring light, unlike b3, and the other three routes will have all of the effort poured into them to show their superiority. What we got for M sex in b3–which was ill-described and confusing–will be what we get for M’s route, overall, in b4, had I to bet. It’s already started that way, IMO.
No. Some things are already nonsensical, and I suspect it will only get worse. I think we need to look at these like Seinfeld episodes, which were basically about nothing. This is “The One with the Ball”. Everything that isn’t the ball is extraneous, lol.
I tried it only in book one (it’s way too painful for my taste) and I did it only because romancing N was much more sentimental on the LT route rather than on the individual (N was holding back a lot). On the LT N was much more expressive about their interest and I liked that. I will never try it on any other book. As I said it’s too painful for my stupid heart
I feel as though if it were a true poly route then I would definitely be open to playing it, but as it stands it’s literally a route explicitly made for the ‘angst’ / ‘drama.’ I don’t understand why it couldn’t have just been written as a poly route in the first place. As it stands, I don’t hear many if any people playing the love triangle unless they are going back through all the options or just didn’t know it was a true ‘love triangle’ [meaning no poly options available.
I use the Fallen Hero series all the time when talking about games here, but it really does just encapsulate to me how well romance can be done in multi-dimensional, interesting ways.
I’m interested in how the Villain romance will turn out, but otherwise i’m little dissapointed. I was hoping that in this book the plot with Bobby/Douglas would be the main plot line. It looked so important at the end of the third book and i was looking forward to get to know them better if the Detective would try to protect them and help them understand this new world.
Other dissapointment was when we could choose what team we’ll be training with. I’m not surprised that we got another new unit (at this point it reminds me when you collect stickers or something). As someone said, it would be great if the new teams actually help with whatever the new mission is.
What do you mean?! They can run very fast and don’t like the sun!
I’m five seconds away from outing Tina’s gf as an agent that’s absolutely creeping on her. Kinda pissing me off for some reason… thats MY friend
So do house spiders.
I do have a habit of calling house spiders magical creatures. Not vampires though.
Mischka has linked to her public demo on her Patreon, something about it being a dead link before, and it seems she has expanded/edited some of the chapters already released. I don’t think we will get a new public release until the end of June.
The difference is that house spiders eat annoying things, and Team Bravo mostly IS annoying things.
Well, I am playing LT as my main route. True, it has some emotions but for me its not very strong but thats just me and my way of reading)
Didnt read book 4 yet (so i cant tell how LT in this book), I will wait full version
I only just tried the demo and I will try not to repeat what’s already been said but I worry that all the books are starting to look like each other, especially when it comes to villains; at this point, they’re starting to feel the same: obsessed by the MC and very one-dimensional (Lin-sar feels evil just because, honestly). Or very simplistic.
I think the game would gain a lot by making them more complex and more unique, if that makes sense. While I don’t have anything against the “Villain of the week” formula, to me, it means that each should be memorable in its own way.
It’s probably as simple as that being a dynamic the author wouldn’t enjoy writing, or doesn’t imagine for these two characters. Which is perfectly OK, of course.
