…I enjoyed CoG Vampires and CoG Romance. I just expected more from the latter, though. Broadsides is my favourite, but I enjoyed the romance aspect of the two other games.
- Vampire was the first CoG; game I played and it is also my favourite. It was so exciting and fun, I don’t know how many times I have played it
The rest of my list goes like this:
2. Romance
3. Dragon
4. Broadsides
Ones I’ve played:
- Vampire
- Broadsides
- Dragon
- Romance
- Broadside
- Vampire
- Romance
- Dragon
- Popcorn
I’d be interested in a Super Heroes themed game, if that’s what you meant by Superior.
-
Vampire for sure. Politics, love, and a bit of action added in with immortality makes it exciting (a bit formal though)
-
Dragon. Your all powerful flying lizard, your rules.
-
Broadsides. I kind of wish there was an option to become a pirate. But I guess they would have to make a whole game for that.
I didnt exactly like romance for the above reasons.
I guess I would also be interested in
- Werewolves.
- Ninja/Samurai (morally good defines you as samurai, while morally evil defines you as ninja)
- Superpowers
-
Dragon. I’ve always loved seeing dragons in protagonistic settings, and there are criminally few stories that do this, so the original Choice of Games game gets the #1 vote from me.
-
Vampire. The longest and most in-depth game is obviously worthy of the top three. The sheer amount of choices you can make is mind boggling. The sequel has some big shoes to fill.
-
Broadsides. Who doesn’t like swashbuckling? This is a very worthy addition to the series. The romance option with Villeneuve added some incredible depth to the story as well.
-
Romance. This one always felt like kind of a throwaway to me. Something slapped together to tide us over until Vampire came out. It’s fine in its own right, but it could have been much better.
For my part, I’d like to see a choice of the Musician. Take your band/symphony/whatever to the heights of fame or something like that. Or a western.
Oh thats fantastic a western would be brill. Never thought about that.
I wouldn’t mind Choice of God…though I’m still waiting for Romance II and Vampire II. I’d also love an extended, more in-depth Broadsides.
My list is…
- Vampire
- Broadsides
- Dragon
- Romance
If the broadside is increased i wish we can see a way to switch side to the person i mostly been trying to fall in love with
next would be Vampire. If the vampire become president that would be funny if that was in it
then I have to say Romance. You need to fall in love somehow
finally I say Dragon
Top three
- Dragon- My first and favorite game. I loved the Simplicity of it and how it gave you the ability to be a beast
I can’t wait for the sequel!
2.Choice of the Hero- Best game ever. You can be good or evil. I love more choice in character. Add in a sidekick, a nemesis, a secret HQ and you will have the perfect game. I’m almost tempted to start making this myself, but I have no dialogue skills. :-((
3.Zebulon- One of the best user created content
Vampire had too many choices and I felt detached from the story. Romance had potential but straddled the fence. It would have been better if it went in the fairy tale king and night direction. I have seen MUCH better text games in the same genre that did not leave the player feeling underwhelmed. Broadsides just wasn’t my type of game. :-<
- Dragon - Played it over and over and over.
- Broadsides
- Vampire
- Vampire - it was definitely my favorite; it was filled with good amounts of romance and actions and i even liked the politics of it.
- Dragon - the first one I ever played (not that there were any choices at the time) and I can’t even think of all the possibilities that could come with Dragon 2. I think my dragon has hibernated long enough xD;
- Romance - though it wasn’t as good as the ones above, i think it was a pretty decent game and could become better with Romance 2
- Samarai - seems like it could be a pretty cool game, but I’m conflicted over wanting a new CoG and wanting to finish or add to the ones that are already out…
- Spy - I’m not too sure how well this one will go… but it might be more interesting than i think it would be. So why not? Just finish my other games first D:
- Broadside - I’m probably gonna get a lot of hate because this is number 6 ^^; I really enjoyed Broadsides; I was ecstatic when another CoG had come out. However, I’m not really sure if there’s much you can do in creating a Broadsides 2. Your character is already an admiral and (possibly) married. Although, I guess you could continue on with being the first character’s child or a whole new character completely. Anyway, I just don’t think there’s a lot you can do with it, but if you can figure it out, by all means make a Broadside 2!
Also… some people mention Choice of God and Choice of Hero and I think those would make really interesting games, so you might want to add those on your list of To Do’s too.
I second all of the above thoughts! Also am I right in saying that regardless of which we prefer, we all have an inevitable fondness for our first time? Although I can appreciate that I probably had more fun in the other games, and technically they are all better too, but I feel Dragon will always have a special place in my heart simply because of how unexpectedly awesome it was!
I’d like to see something interesting like Choice of Pirates. xD I kept thinking throughout Broadsword…can’t Vill and I run away and become pirates instead? Otherwise, Broadsword was fun. I really felt powerful as a master swordsman. And I really liked my character, who I made as a fierce warrior and strict commander, but star-struck lover with a kind/honorable side.
I’m hoping for a continuation of Vampires, though. I’d like to be able to pursue my maker. (I made him perfectly to my liking and then he was gone. T_T)
Choice of Dragons is amazing (though I fail at getting a mate every time -_-). I’d love to see more of it. Dragons are always a fun, fun topic.
Choice of Romance was nice to, but I would have loved to see more delving into the magical aspect. Maybe a game about playing a wizard/witch?
But for my vote?
Vampires
Dragons
Romance
Broadsword (only fourth cause I can’t seem to find a way to run away with Vill. xD)
(really interested in this samurai one =D)
Haha thanks man… hope when you talking bout samurai your talking bout the cog I’m writing… lol
Okay, first off, am I the only person that saw my first CoG (Dragon in my case) and started out with “This is gonna be awesome!”? 'Cause I knew as soon as I read the description on the Android Market that it was gonna be awesome.
Anyways, I’m gonna keep my favorites separate from what I want the most as I think it’s a bit unfair to compare a finished game to a game idea:
-
Vampire: The sheer depth in comparison to the other choices is simply immense. Really makes it stand out as the best game in my opinion, particularly because there doesn’t feel like there is any ‘right’ answer.
-
Marine Raider: Yea, that’s right. I’m putting a user contributed game in the second spot. Not because I don’t like the other games, but because I feel that this one is so good. Sure there are some things I don’t like (I normally like games such as Vampire where there doesn’t seem to be a ‘winning’ move more), but I still love the way this game draws the setting.
3 Tie) Romance/Broadsides: I liked both games, but felt that both had shortcomings, and they are so different, that I can’t decide between the two. Romance felt like the world was more ‘alive’ and less like there was a right and wrong choice, while Broadsides felt a little flatter to me when I started feeling like I should ‘game’ the game and try to get a ‘best’ outcome. On the other hand, I liked the characters in Broadsides, feeling like they had a bit more depth than those in Romance, which is kind of sad, considering the Romance stories are all about the characters, but when I talked to the characters in Broadsides I was saying ‘Yea, I understand you.’ while the characters in Romance felt like ‘Yea, I understand what the writer was using you for.’. The character in Romance just felt a little bit more like stage props.
(TL;DR): Broadsides: Better Characters, Felt more ‘gamy’; Romance: Better World Building, Characters felt like cardboard cutouts
- Dragon: Okay, this isn’t at the bottom of the list because I like it less than the other stories. In fact, I like it more than the other stories, but I think if feel more like a definitive ‘first’ game. It does hold a special place for me, being the first CoG I played, but it is simply not as good as the ones the came after. And that is a very good thing. Every new CoG is better than the last, and I feel like users are starting to bring games out that have the same ‘feel’ as the actual CoG, taking what the system can do to heart, and producing real stories, with real meat, and real choices.
(TL;DR) I got preachy.
Okay, as for the games I’m looking forward to coming out: The sequels to Vampire and Romance, of course, Zombie Exodus (Which I feel is a shining example of the kind of improving user contribution that I was talking about earlier), and my own game of course :p. (Still untitled, and still in the
pre-alpha stages, although I plan on showing it off once I finish the character generation done as a teaser). (Oh, sorry MouaThug, can’t really say anything about Bushido Code as I haven’t seen anything, but I do love me some Sengoku Period Japan, although I guess a Samurai game set in the Heian Period will have to suffice :p)
Reaperoa hahaha you sure know your history…it was suppose to be secret… Haha but oh well… Heian period was when Chinese influence was at there height and also decline…
when art and literature was at its peak…
but I don’t know anything about Sengoku period… gotta go read about that…
