I understand what you’re saying and you do have a valid reason for your complaint. I can see how expressing it through prose rather than dialogue might work better, but I feel it was better to show rather than to tell.
Secondly, I am a black male myself and I have been exposed to different kinds of people growing up. They all talk differently and act differently. Not everyone is the same. Some do talk the way Lakeem and Angela talk, while others don’t. It depends on their background and upbringing. Also, in that setting where we explore the world of crime and gangs, some individuals do talk like that. I admit some parts may be exaggerated, but it’s not too far from the truth. Still, I see your point.
Thank you for the concern, but I can assure you it was not done out of racist intent.
Again, some parts of the dialogue may have been exaggerated for either comedic effect or just to be plainly absurd. But I know people who talk like this
