UPDATED 3/17 [WIP] Wonderland Noir: Behind the Looking Glass (Disco Elysium meets Tom Waits' Alice, 18+) (110k words)

Hello! Glad that you are back! Sounds like you are working on a lot of things, three cases is crazy work. Can’t wait for the next update.

If I may, why didn’t you like the prologue as much?

I don’t think it’s badly written per se, but because it seems to be in a genre that I normally don’t enjoy much (I usually tend to avoid surrealist/confusing stories because I quickly grow frustrated with them haha) but after rereading it and get the context of the prologue, I like it better than when I first read it now.

Would you mind if I put a snippet of your comment in the OP?

I would feel honoured if you do!

Well, last year was the one I hope the dementia takes first. But its over now, and I’ve gotten back to work on my WIP. Updated with a new chapter. Takes place at an abandoned hotel. Themes of regret and letting go. One beta tester said it reminded them of the Dead Money DLC from Fallout: New Vegas. The theme, at least, if not the specifics of the events. Hope you all enjoy and, as always, don’t hesitate with your feedback.

Perplexing but intriguing! This eccentric world leaves me with questions but wanting more. It all felt reminiscent of Disco Elysium while I was playing (and I see the CoG thread confirms this). I’ve been searching for something to scratch that Disco itch.

Next chapter is underway. Also going to add some more social encounters with Amos and Lauren between the major set pieces along with some smaller vignettes about how Wonderland is slowly overtaking the world that the PC can look into.

Honestly… this was one of the most terrifying pieces of fiction I’ve read. And I loved the inspiration from the king in yellow. Wonderland feels so scary, because it’s too real. This probably will leave me fucked up for a while. 10/10

Really appreciate you taking the time to write this. Comments like this make my day! Its interesting seeing the response to Wonderland, because some people have reactions similar to yours while others agree with what Wonderland is doing. Which, funnily enough, fits the story well.

More to come.
