I thought of something. We could make a Ghost Rider-like MC if we go pure fire elemental and go with the closest biker look we can get. Only thing missing is vehicles (specifically motorcycles), weapons and probably a skull mask/helmet that we can set on fire safely.
I’d pick the Venetian carnival mask for that… not an exact match, but close enough (and a believable stretch to me at least)
Eh, if the content that the authors dont have time to add is just some extra on-the-sides/extra choices thingies, then fine. But if the stuff thats “missing” is ending content, please dont make it a DLC, selling the epilogue (or part of it) as additional content is horrible business practice.
Well, as it is, if the game is supposed to conclude at the point it currently ends (and it probably is, if it went to the CoG editors) then it’s pretty much just half of the story (or extended prologue).
Otherwise, going from the current “heel-turn/Comeback Kid appears” cliffhanger to the ending we can see in the prologue would have to be extremely rushed – given it’s presumable to expect the follow-up events will include Nora actually making an appearance, potentially a heist with Telltale, dealing with Blair, some sort of interactions with Thaumaturge and whoever is responsible for the superdrug (Adversary, likely)
So, yeah. You’re most likely looking at another installment to actually bring things to conclusion. Whether it’s a DLC or another game altogether.
Up to the party is all i saw.
That feels like it’s still only the start, really. Guess its a series then. When comparing that to the actual prologue we see.
CoG games are sent to the editors in milestones and go through many revisions over the course of the writing process, and the full games aren’t always shared publicly before beta testing (unlike HG games which are submitted as full games). I would not expect a CoG game to be released as “half the story” by any means, series or not. Part of CoG requirements is that players can experience a completed, fleshed-out story, even if some threads will be fully wrapped up in a sequel.
I don’t have knowledge of what will or won’t be included at release, but I do know how CoG games are made, and I’m sure when the authors have done their draft revisions and beta testing comes around, it’ll be clear what the scope of the full game will be.
Hmm, i notice that the per-chapter milestones on the page you’ve linked effectively end at chapter 8 (it’s just “completed game” afterwards) Does it mean the games are generally expected to have little more than these 8 chapters?
Because well, Unsupervised is 8 chapters long in its current shape. So either the remainder is going to be multiple chapters long, in order to be that completed, fleshed-out story you speak of… or it’ll be some sort of a short wrap-up. But the latter would be problematic, given the amount of material it’d presumably need to cover.
No, CoG games are typically 8-12 chapters, but from my experience in writing/playing/seeing people’s outlines they’ve shown me, they tend to be on the longer end of that scale. As a result, there tends to be a period of time during the later progress of the game where the author has had most of their advance paid and is writing the final chapters. (I happen to be doing that right now - I’m making Chapter 11 of 12, have been submitting chapters for review and revising them, and will get another payment once I’m finished.)
I’ve no idea how many chapters the final version of this particular game will be and can’t speak for the authors, but regardless of length, number of chapters etc, I expect the authors to release a completed game, just as I would for any CoG or HC project.
Come on, guys. It’s me. Your boy Zaper.
I’m not some EA money-grubbing executive trying to figure out the best way to implement microtransactions and turn Unsupervised into a game-as-a-service so I can maximize my profits. I don’t like day-one paid DLCs, charging for cheats, or DRM. I’m customer-friendly because I’m a customer myself. Whatever I do, I do it because I think it’s the best for the story and for the players.
The game doesn’t end where the demo ends, but it’s close to the ending. Remember, we were still in Vera City like over a year ago, when I said the game was around 70% done.
Why hasn’t the demo been updated, then?
There are a bunch of reasons, but the most important one is that we’ve sent the full game to CoG and are waiting for them to review it. Since it’s our first game with the label and there’s some wild stuff in it, they might ask for changes. We also have to wait for them to send the files back before we implement the fixes (thanks for the reports, by the way, I’ll respond to them in another post). I don’t know if there’ll be a full public demo, because the schedule might be tight, but it’s all speculation at this point. The only thing I can say for sure is that I really value your feedback.
What’s this about a DLC or a sequel? Do you hate us that much?
No! When I said that the game needs one or the other, here’s what I meant:
Unsupervised was originally going to have eleven chapters, and we followed the outline the best that we could, but we also stretched the content of each chapter by a lot and added a bunch of new things that weren’t planned. At some point last year it became clear that a single game wasn’t enough to do all plot points and characters justice. The recent Dune adaptation comes to mind: I think everybody agrees that it was best as a two-parter, rather than trying to fit everything in a single movie.
I don’t get it!
There’s like 80k words that didn’t make the first game, either because there was nowhere to fit those scenes or because they needed more work done. That itself already justifies an eventual DLC, but there’s a specific part that I’ve been wanting to write since before the game was even greenlit, and I want it to be as big as the scenes in Vera City (which are like, 3 chapters?)
So, again, it’s all speculation here, but I think:
1 - If there’s enough demand, there can be a full-fledged sequel, with a word count that justifies its existence.
2- Otherwise, there should be a DLC, and if the new content is just wrapping things up, I’ll be the first one pushing for it to be free.
I hope that clarifies things.
I must admit, I’ve gotten a little too used to beta testing Hosted Games, totally forgetting that with Choice of Games, things are a little different. That said, I guess you can imagine my shock and surprise when the demo ended so abruptly, only to find that the rest of the game has already been submitted. No wonder some of us were like, where did the rest of the game go, and who is going to test it? Anyway, thanks for clarifying and putting our worries to rest.
One of the most anticipated CoGs…at least for me.
Count me in, for anticipating this game.
It’ll go through the official beta testing as well, for the full game like all CoGs and HCs do. I wonder if there was confusion about what the word “submitted” means in the process for CoG vs HG. With CoG, authors submit chapters to the editors, who give notes and send it back for revision, and that goes on through the whole process until the full beta is announced on the forum and players can sign up to test. With HG, the entire game is submitted in one go usually after an open beta test of the whole thing, and there is much less back-and-forth between staff and authors.
All that aside, I’m certain it’ll be a great release when it happens! Best of luck to the authors with draft revisions!
Edit for anyone looking back: I was actually wrong about this, I think - the full game doesn’t seem to have gone through the same beta process that CoG/HC usually do.
I really praying hard to god mahatmadagon will continue war for the west after this. With this game and war for the west sequel my heart can have little bit of peace

What were people even complaining about? It’s obvious the game isn’t complete and the full game is what you submitted, we’ll get the full thing when it’s on the COG to buy. It’s not like this is the early access it’s just a bit of the full game so we know it’s gonna be good
For me i don’t really care it’s dlc or sequel book, as long you enjoy write, can give the quality that you want and it faster then yeah i just go with your decision
Hi everyone –
Please do not discuss other games in this thread. Not only does it derail the feedback and discussion of this game but it confuses people who believe you are talking about this game.
Thank you!
I mean, if you’re a time manipulator, death might not be the end.
Test it. And its written like a charm (the time travel part). Can wait to read all.
Is there a release date yet ?
