I’m curious how one gets the achievement for changing their alias. Is it tied to an ending? It seems some achievements are a result of very specific sets of actions. (and don’t always fire, in the case of kissing Sawyer/Thelma) I was surprised to find out that a slightly different routing through a (very) lategame dialogue tree caused another branch.
Yes, it’s something you can do in one of villain endings, a variant of getting teleported by Sawyer to the space prison, where you ultimately force other prisoners into submission and declare yourself their leader.
Well, huh.
Does that require not being able to dodge Sawyer? So far I’ve always been able to evade them, so if I wind up in spacejail I had to surrender.
That’s correct (meaning, you’ll only really get it with element or time manipulator who didn’t raise their agility too much, as the others will avoid Sawyer automatically) It also requires Intellect of 7+ and Presence of 7+ to select relevant option which starts this particular ending.
I was wondering can you by chance if you do a villian playthrough can you turn Blair into a Villian, I know by the way some have written than you can do the same with Lilith but was wondering if the same could be done with Blair as well or any of the others characters, I know for sure Flint wouldnt do it they too moraly stuck up since they won’t allow me to kill people in peace cause according to them its not moraly right…
Blair pretty much ends a villain and part of the new world regime on their own, regardless of MC’s interactions with them. That said, they do have “hero/villain” meter that starts at 50% and depending on interactions with MC it can go up or down, but ultimately it makes no difference whatsoever in the current build of the game.
Is the “Time 2 Die” achievement actually achievable? I can’t find a way in the code, but it has > 0 % on Steam, so clearly someone has gotten it.
You can get all achievements simply altering the text file which stores them on your end, so someone probably got it that way.
You’re right that getting it “normally” does appear to be impossible at the moment: you can die once in fight against Jackdaw and then again (multiple times) during the confrontation at the warehouse, but the game only triggers the achievement during the fight with Jackdaw and there doesn’t seem to be any real opportunity for a death before, that’d actually count as one.
I wonder if dying at the warehouse is what isn’t triggering it properly? Cause you also get the die-as-a-time-manipulator achievement when you get shot there.
Or maybe getting shot in the heart right near the start isn’t setting a flag.
Thats sad cause I was kind of hoping you could turn most of the team into villans my either braking them or manipulating them onto your side, could have worked later on with you having to go agaisnt Flint and those you weren’t able to sway towards your side.
Question: People call Sawyer Saw for short. Is it pronounced Saw or Soy?
Yes, for whatever reason it doesn’t check if this is your second (or more) death and doesn’t grant relevant achievement.
Yes, i meant it in the context of the achievement, outside of the loop you can perform there.
You won’t get the regular dying achievement from that either, so it clearly doesn’t count as a death. Which makes sense, since you don’t actually die.
But yes, the only place where the achievement is granted is in a fight with Jackdaw, and it requires a variable that is set only in the next scene.
That’s… not exactly true? It definitely checks how many times you’ve died in that scene (you’ll get different text every time). You won’t get the achievement for more than one though.
There are actually a few reasons why it doesn’t trigger properly and is impossible to get right now:
- The code line that gives the achievement (*achieve timetodieagain) only appears in the first instance you can die in the Jackdaw chase sequence, but not the second instance in the warehouse docks scene
- It also seems to be tied to the timesDied stat, but the Jackdaw chase death scene doesn’t actually increase this stat
- And finally, the Jackdaw pursuit requires you to both work with PARENTS and recruit Derek, but having both of these variables active at the same time blocks you from getting the docks death scene later on – I’m pretty sure for this one you need to fail the check for noticing the sniper, but having both PARENTS and Derek around makes them automatically deal with the sniper. So the two scenes where you can die are basically mutually exclusive within one playthrough.
Right, that too. (I don’t think you can work with PARENTS and not recruit Derek though.) I originally missed that you can’t pursuit him if you’re not working with PARENTS, but I was half asleep when I read that file. But even if they weren’t mutually exclusive, timesDied is only increased in the next scene (aplenty).
Very fitting timey-wimey for a time manipulator though.
I would have to purposefully get myself killed then.
Out of curiosity does anyome here know how exactly kill Jackdaw like I know how to kill Red Harry but havent found anything about Jackdaw .
I never tried again yet. I am waiting.
I assume specific powerset would help. Timestop I do believe works fine?
You need to have 5 agility or more then decide to go yourself to his home and you will get an option to kill him
Thanks
