Unsupervised—Once, you were a sidekick. Now, you kick ass!

Ya, there is like only Nora’s appearance after the demo, which you could doesn’t progress the story towards completion in any way, instead it begs the question why bother introducing in this game if it’s going to be released unfinished? Might as well do the introduction in the DLC

There are a lot of critic around lenghty test. Don’t think this is a negative thing. There people who like to see the work pile up till the end. There are also people that like to see the work finish.

If choice are given its a mega Bonus. Hope to see more of those pile of story :grinning:

Fun demo! Looking forward to the full game.

I have just finished Unsupervised game but i’m still confused about ending, could someone explain it to me?

The game isn’t finished yet, the ending will be in dlc.

I’m a bit baffled at the people going “the released game didn’t have much more content than the demo” - shouldn’t you be happy that they gave you what was almost the full game to test for free?

And just because story-wise this is obviously a first part of several, there are so many wildly differing routes to discover that you really can’t complain about the amount of content. You’re definitely getting your money’s worth out of this.
I’ve played the demo a lot of times and still haven’t seen everything, but even if I had, I think it’d be only fair to still buy it to support the authors (and as thank-you for the reading time I got for free with the demo.)

I really don’t like superhero stories in general, but this is one of the few games I’d consider my favorite despite that setting. Well done to the authors.

What people actually complain about is they were not informed the story was a first part of several, and this is not obvious at the moment of purchase.

Hi folks –

Let’s keep the focus of our posts on the game itself and not on what other posters are or are not doing.

Just a reminder: Calling out others or responding to those call-outs are both against forum rules.

As I said before: Keep the discussion on point and focused on the purpose of this thread.

Thank you.

To offer my own two cents, plenty of games have offered most, if not all of the game for open beta and people still loved them (main example I can think of rn is Lords of Infinity). The issue is this feels like an unfinished game. And folks can argue back and forth on whether or not it’s really is unfinished or it’s just a cliffhanger, but the fact of the matter is that clearly a very sizable number of people feel like this is a game without an ending.

War for the West ended on a cliffhanger too, but no one complains about that because it wasn’t abrupt, and there was still enough actual meaningful storyline content for players to feel like they experienced a full story.

As for how much content there is, I won’t argue that there is a lot. But to me, that still doesn’t change the fact that this feels like a game without a real ending. It’s a quantity vs quality issue. Yes, there’s a lot of content, but that’s not really meaningful when the game lacks an overall resolution. In my opinion, it would’ve been better to cut some of the additional content, and focus on actually resolving the storyline. I’d rather have a shorter, more focused game with an actual ending, than a sprawling behemoth that fails to offer any semblance of closure, or even tension.

This game is standalone and it’s going to be finished with dlc.

It doesn’t feel like an unfinished game. It just flat out is one.

When I heard the story would be resolved by a sequel or DLC, I was thinking something along the lines of Dragon Age Inquisition being followed by Trespasser, or Baldur’s Gate 2 being followed by the Throne of Bhaal. A complete story arc that would be followed by a final story arc.

I was not thinking of Star Wars giving me a smash cut to the credits immediately after “That’s no moon. It’s a space station.”

I guess the achievement was right, I’m a little irritated it just stopped.

Can you even meet Vorpal in game?

Yes, either as a time manipulator on heroic path, or in some branches as villain. She shows up as a final boss, after a fashion.

Honestly, just adding Book 1 or Episode 1 to the title, or maybe even the description, would fix the issue. Wonder why COG haven’t done this when almost all the replies in this post refer to it, the more you delay the more you hurt the game.

Also I remember COG delaying some games for sure, why was this rushed out in that case. Could have made sure it was complete and release it, we all would have waited patiently, instead we have a half baked product and it’s lost a good chunk of the fanbase that the demo generated

I agree calling this outing “part one” or “episode one” would have been an improvement, but had the authors done that I’d still have felt a little cheated. I don’t mind a cliffhanger ending, or a story told in parts, but I do want each COG game in a series to feel like a complete story, with a full plot and complete character arc, even if there are unresolved elements or story threads to be worked out in the sequels.

This is just half a tale.

Personal opinion: I’ve read books with worse endings.

My only comment on the ending is that if it results in a sequel of similar depth it’ll more than make up for the lack of closure. Kind of glad it didn’t force a rushed resolution honestly.

Mostly was trying to figure out some of these alternate pathways/achievements.

  1. Seems like most people here talk about fighting Nora, which I guess happens on the villain route. My game ended after a massive exposition dump and getting catapulted into the future Thaumaturge. Is this the “normal” ending? Do you still end up in the future if you encounter Nora?

  2. Speaking of the Villain route, is there a definite on ramp that path somewhere? Felt like the game kept throwing me options for petty larceny but never like a choice to just break bad. Don’t know if I was specifically blocked off because I was playing a goodygoody or I missed something.

  3. Aside from theft and villainy is there any legitimate way to make money in the game or are all the costume upgrades a cheaters and baddies only thing? I did SFX in the opening segment and even stole the wedding rings and it wasn’t enough to afford anything.

  4. The achievements suggest a lot of stuff that seems impossible within the confines of the game. How do you win a Time War when Time Travel isn’t even introduced until the final five minutes? How are we becoming mayor as a teenager with a secret identity?

  5. Somewhat less implausible but still baffling are the achievements around Lilith. I pursued her pretty aggressively until Thelma showed up. I don’t doubt there would have been some content if I danced with her at the party but that was so close to the end I doubt there were three achievements gated behind it. There was also a grayed option about trying to kiss her early in the game, and no clue what that relates to. Feels like there was a lot of side story with her that I just missed somehow.

Anyway I’ll just close by saying this is the most I’ve enjoyed one of these in a while. Enough so that I’ll probably have to go back and play their hosted games, which had never really grabbed my attention prior to this. So great job all around, even if it didn’t quite stick the landing.

It happens on some of the villain routes, but also on time manipulator hero path, which is probably one of most common combinations.

Killing Red Harry is basically guaranteed to get you there. You have also multiple options for other murders earlier, starting from Propaganda.

You can get funds from PARENTS, either for catching criminals (Telltale + her friend) or as condition to cooperate after the attack on Vera City.

All of this is in the game. Time War is one of routes on villain time manipulator path. Being a mayor is a possibility for element manipulator MC with maxed out Presence.

Mind you, a lot of these achievements do happen in the last five minutes of the game, which probaly lends to the feeling of things ending (too) abruptly.

There are. Most of them are limited to villain path though, since they revolve around leaving the team with Lillith.

Let me just say holy hell. I don’t got a single clue what’s going on but that Time War ending made me feel immense happiness seeing time traveling taken so damn far like that.
I probably wouldn’t go with that ending as my main playthrough in the sequel but the amount of potential ways it can go is immense, Lucas just can’t stop making endings with so many different things that can happen in the sequel from War For The West to this, hats off to y’all this is a treat indeed
But i can understand a lot of people’s gripes with this game.
As cool as i make it sounds like, this game is quite literally unfinished with an ending that can barely be called an ending, more like an abrupt cut straight to the credits, it doesn’t even have a proper ending screen just a big “to be continued” text and that it.

This game is like i said a treat but that treat is unfortunately far too short to be everlasting, i don’t necessarily find it the worst but it’s definitely flawed in that regard and at the end the product result is far from something reasonably finished.
All i got to say is either wait till the dlc is released or wait till a sequel comes out because frankly, this game really needs them both.
