Ultimata (Fantasy WIP)

I think the question he’s asking is, whether or not every race have their own type of government or do they all follow the same one?

Sorry, allow me to clarify. For example do the Kitsune have a system of government different from Soulmancers or do the species operate like the real world in which inhabitants of a specific region have their own government?

So what you’re basically asking is:
Is the governments species based or regional based?

Yes, sorry if I’ve poorly phrased the question.

Don’t worry About it. I just needed a little clarification. But now to your question.

In the world of my story exist two forms of government. The first form are all the normal and known governments from around the globe. These governments are mainly led by human politicians, though in the last couple of decades supernatural politicians also managed to establish their presence in the political world. For example, the president of the United States in my story, Elana Whitmore, is a supernatural, a Lhoran to be more precisely.
The second governmental form though is a bit more unique. You see, there are several supernatural communities, dynasties and factions that reach partly back into the ancient centuries. Even in our modern times most of these factions still hold quite a lot of influence both in the supernatural as well as the human world. There are several diversive reasons for their still present influence, like unique forms of industry, trading monopolies or widely valued goods like clothing or food. Because of this the United Nations usually try to keep the relations between them and the various supernatural factions affable. To ensure this most of the supernatural factions have a representative who represents them and their interests before the UN.

Sooo… the demo up top says, “old demo”. Is there a “new demo” hiding somewhere or…?

Not yet, the author’s making some fundamental changes, so for now make do with the lore filled posts or the tumblr.

Hmm… okay. Haven’t tried it yet, but it seems interesting. I’ll give the “old demo” a go then.

Did any of the gods stand a chance against the dragons?

Yes. Right now I’m still working on my story to bring it on the state of my recent concepts and to implement all the new features I mentioned here. I don’t know yet how much time I will need to complete my writing goal since it takes quite a bit of time to write paths for all 14 race, though I will give my best to reach my aspired goal as soon as possible.

Umm, I think there is a little misunderstanding. I don’t have Tumblr for my story. At least not yet.

Yes. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, there were a few godly beings and mythological creatures who managed to pose an actual challenge for the Eight. Though, most Gods were no match for the Dragon’s and their armies, because they gravely underestimated their opponents capabilities due to their own arrogance. As they realized how powerful the Dragon’s actually are it was in most cases already too late, due to their fastly growing power and influence which made it almost impossible for most Pantheon’s to challenge them. That’s why various godly Pantheon’s, like the Norse Pantheon for example, decided to rather negotiate with the Dragon’s instead of fighting them.

I was for a moment really shocked. I thought there would be a tumblr and I didn’t knew it. If you ever decide to make a tumblr I would be glad. But I don’t think it’s a must-have.

Well, I never gave it much thought to be honest. Maybe I should make one someday.

However, there is one thing I would like to ask. What exactly is a tumblr thread useful for?

I would say it’s most common used for ask regarding the ROs and characters of the WIP. Furthermore it’s used to ask questions about the world of the book but things that won’t happen during the book. Like in many books you don’t get much from the actual relationship but more of the crushing state. On tumblr there are questions about the relationships and reactions from ROs in it in certain situations. I don’t know if it’s the general use of tumblr but it’s at least the way I use tumblr threads. Also if the author is comfortable many people ask NSFW questions. Many things you answer in the forum regarding the world of your book are common for tumblr, too. But answering them here (or don’t at all) is fine too.

Thank you for the clarification. Hmm, such a tumblr thread sounds definitely quite interesting. Who knows, maybe I will actually make one once I posted the demo.

Alright then, here is the next Elder Dragon profile. This time its the profile of Tarik, the Elder Dragon of the Element Air. I’m really sorry that it took me so long to post this, but during the past two weeks I put my focus a bit more on my actual story and had not really the time to concentrade on much else. Still I hope you like this new profile nonetheless.

Also, I’m sorry that the profile became a little too extensive.

Tarik
Element: Air
Title: King of Storm
Personality: A outgoing and lively Dragon with a adventurous and daring personality. A true daredevil who enjoys nothing more than real action-packed situations that get his adrenalin flowing. He especially enjoys those situations in which the odds are heavily stacked against him. He is extremly determined and resolute and rarely backs down from a challenge. Its also almost impossible for others to discourage him if he set his mind on something. If he set himself a goal he will always try to see it through till the very end, even if he might get severely wounded or actually die while trying. Because of this peculiar behaviour, many might see Tarika as rather reckless and simple-minded. However, what many besides his siblings are unaware of is, that Tarik is a extremly intelligent and cunning individual, who can also be quite manipulative if the situations calls for it. He is also a very charismatic and alluring, which combined with his intellect allows him to easily charm and manipulate others to gain their trust and support or to simply let them do his biddings.
Powers: Tarik has the power to freely control and manipulate air. Another aspect of his powers is the ability to alter the weather around him in different ways. He can create destructive thunder storms, strong rainfalls, powerful tornados or simply cloudless sunny sky. He can also generate electrical charges within his body, which he can release in various forms like lightnings or strong electrical currents.
Among his siblings Tarik is the one with the highest agility and nimbleness, due to his elemental allignments. Because of this opponents usually have a extremly hard time to even get a single hit on him. If he goes all out he can also move at a speed of up to 343 metres per second. Though, while he can move at an incredible high speed he is still no match for his older sister Lyra who can move at a top speed of up to 300k metres per second.
Role during the great War: Matching with his rather daring personality Tarik took on a slightly more challenging battle than most of his siblings. While most of his siblings had to deal with partly up to three different godly Pantheons Tarik decided to single handedly take on two entire continents filled with countless varying powerful deities, which also included the territories of two of the most powerful godly Pantheons in existence, the Mayan Pantheon and the Aztec Pantheon. Most would have probably seen Tariks endeavour as a pure suicide mission. Hell, even his siblings thought this was a extremly stupid idea (with exception of Feng of course) and tried to dissuade this idea of his (again with the exception of Feng who actually encouraged him), though without much success. He set himself a goal and would try to see it through till the very end even if he might die trying. So he travelled to the west to the two great continents. His first stop was the northern continent which posed as the home for countless smaller Pantheons and independent partly very powerful nature deities. Much to Tariks suprise however, this first part of his quest turned out to be the easiest one. As he discovered rather quickly during his first few weeks on the continent, most of the native deities were actually rather peaceful and placid. They also showed almost no hostile behaviour towards Tarik, despite the fact that they were quite territorial. During his stay he also discovered that most of the deities had no real interest in the war and the only reason they actually took part was because they simply wanted to protect their territories from the other godly Pantheons. With all these new informations in mind Tarik decided to make the deities a offer. He offered the deities the protection of all their territories and followers in exchange for their support and loyalty. He even went one step further assured them that they would be allowed to keep all their territories once the war was over. Naturally all deities accepted the offer of the Elder Dragon, even though some needed a little longer than others, and ultimately managed to gain the support of an entire continent without having to actually fight. However, this was only the first part of his journey and things could still change since the most complicated part layed still before him.
His arrival on the southern continent was already less pleasant than the one on the nothern side, mainly because the sight that offered him there was something that would probably haunt him for quite some time. He found a giant battlefield littered with the corpses and remains of what he assumed must be the forces of his enemies. Though, as he later discovered a large part of the victims were mainly innocent civilians. It took him a while, but eventually Tarik found a group of survivors in the great chaos of the old battlefield who, as it turned out, were the patron deities of several smaller tribes from the nearby jungles. Of course, they were vary about the Elder Dragon at first but relied on his charm Tarik to convince the deities that he meant them no harm and was simply there to help. Even tho it took a little bit more coaxing than usual he eventually managed to convince them from his intentions and to gain their trust. Through this newbuild relation he also learned about the reason for the war-like state the continent seemed to be in. As it turned out the two largest and powerful factions of the area, the Aztec Deities and the Mayan Deities, are on a war on their own against each other for supremancy and influence on the continent. Their war lasted for almost a decade now with neither side managing to gain any ground, which already caused the lifes of thousands. Especially innocent civilians or other less powerful deities became more than often unwillingly part of the conflict. For now however, both factions managed to agree on a temporary yet extremly frail truce that could break every moment. He also learned about the destructive capabilites of both sides and that they both practiced blood magic to strengthen their own powers and armies, an area with which Tarik wasn’t all that familiar with. With all these new informations Tarik realized that this part would be much more complicated than his first one and that the whole situation might be more than he could handle. However, even despite the horrible odds and prospects he refused to simply give up and instead decided to rely on his more hidden talents this time around to come up with a plan that could help him out. Although it took a little longer than he had liked he actually managed to come up with a plan that would allow him to easily deal with both factions, by taking advantage of the already bad relations between them. For this he travelled personally to the home realms of both pantheons under the guise of trying to warn them about a coming confrontation. He told each side that their respective enemy had contacted him and his siblings with the wish of forming a temporary alliance, which would allow them to easily eradicate their opponents. While still rather suspicious at first it didn’t took all that long until the respective Pantheons believed him due to the prior and constant conflicts between both sides. However, even despite the fact that they believed him they wondered why Tarik, their apparent enemy, would decide to reveal such a important plan to them to which he simply answered that he wishes for nothing more than to solve things on a diplomatic and peaceful way. Though, he told them that while he wanted to keep things peaceful his siblings followed a different notion and instead wanted to solve things in a more aggressive and violent way. He also told them that it would only be a matter of days until his other siblings would arrive. Thanks to his charismatic personality it was extremly easy for him to convince both Pantheons about the truth of this apparent “revelation” and it wasn’t long until the two factions broke the temporary truce and faced each other once again on the battlefield. This time however their battle was much more ferocious and destructive due to the fact that both sides tried to defeat their opponents before their “alleged support” would arrive, all while Tarik simply watched from the side lines and enjoyed the results if his work. The battle lasted nothing more than a few days, though the results were extremly ghastly with heavy loses on both sides. Now with both armies heavily decimated and most deities either dead or wounded all Tarik had to do was finish the survivors off, which was suprisingly easy despite the fact that most the remaining deities still tried to fight back despite their suffered wounds. Though, it is important to note that he didn’t killed them, since even he realized that both factions had probably already suffered more than enough. However, what was most suprising and rather unexpected was that once the battle was over all those minor deities who also inhabited the southern continent offered their support to Tarik and his cause since he freed them from the constant conflicts of the two factions.
So, ultimately Tarik managed to make the almost impossible possible and not only gain the support of two whole continents but also managed to defeat two of the most powerful godly pantheons on existence.
After the War: Having found great joy from his role during the great War, Tarik decided that he wanted to continue his adventurous life by looking for new and even more impossible challenges. For this he decided to accompany his sister Aurelia, who had quite identical interests as Tarik, on her journey. Together the two travelled throughout the world, witnessed the rise and fall of countless ancient empires and experienced many great adventures. Sadly, none of those adventures could truly satisfy Tarik and his craving after adrenalin-packed scenarios. However, this changed while the two spend some time in ancient greece. Right there Tarik witnessed what the other races called sports, a rather interesting form of excercise practiced by so-called athlets. For the first time since the war, Tarik found something that truly caught his attention. Especially after he heard about the great contests in which the most skilled athlets could prove their experience and expertise against other. The prospect of competing in such competitions himself and against other skilled athlets filled him with great anticipation. So he decided to remain in greece to train and study the countless sports the country had to offer. Thanks to his natural attributes and athleticism it was rather easy for him to pick up everything he had to know about the various sports and to master them. Once he was sufficient enough in new acquired skills he deicded to test them by taking part in one of the greatest sport competitions of the ancient times, the olympic games in Olympia, were he managed to win every single event and even though he was permanently banned from competing after word came out about Tariks true identity this particular event still served as the first step on Tariks future carrier. The Olympic Games only heightened his already existing interest and love for sports and competitions. He wanted to master as much new sports as possible and to prove his skills against other great athlets. To achieve this he continued his travels though focus mainly entirely on learning and mastering the various sports all the different historical periods had to offer. Especially Extreme Sports caught his attention in particular since they combined his love for both sports and thrill.
Today Tarik is a extremly famous figure in the world of sports and a world-class athlet. He also counts as a pioneer and role model for action, adventure and extreme sports.

Busy dragon!

Do we get to meet every dragon in the first book or do we have to waait till the second?

Well, if you pick the Dragon MC you will get a chance to meet Lyra, the elder Dragon of Light, in the first book. Regarding the remaining seven, they will sadly only be mentioned by name.

Though, from the second book on all Elder Dragon’s will slowly be introduced and all MC’s will get the chance to meet them personally. However, the most entertaining and detailed scenes and scenarios with the Eight Elders will sadly be reserved for the Dragon MC, since well, they are part of their family.

Edit: The new Prolog also contains a sequence which will be entirely centered around the Eight Elder Dragon’s. During Mythology Class (the first class of the day with Yukio) you will discuss and analyse different works of art from the past centuries that are centered around the Eight Elder Dragon’s and should give you an idea for how each of them might look (though it might be a little questionable how accurate some of these depictions are).
