Has anyone else played Type Help on itch.io? If not, please go play it, because it’s brilliant and I desperately want to talk about it with somebody.
I’m playing it now. Feel free to DM.
And feel free to DM me if you have any questions!
Super interesting. I’ve found 20 files (I think most of Act I). I’ve got to keep going.
About two-thirds!
Finished the game. ![]()
Ended up 5.6k words of notes for it.
I was sorely tempted to create a database just to keep track of things!
I liked it so much I made hints for it.
I kind of wish I could forget it completely and play it again for the first time. It’s so elegantly constructed, and the story haunts me. The way it sort of answers all the questions, but never quite completely, is maddening (but brilliant. but maddening).
Just finished it. Holy Moly…
I was keeping @AletheiaKnights updated on my progress. I think I made a note at one point and forgot I did. After that, I navigated through everything without notes. I really enjoy the game. For any lurkers, please try this game. Wishlist it on Steam, as provided in Dan’s link.
I think most people end up taking at least a few notes. There are whole charts, diagrams, and family trees out there, actually. As well as a lot of speculation, most of which is reasonable and well supported (which shouldn’t surprise me, since it’s essentially a self-selecting fandom of people who excel in reading comprehension and logic).
Wow. That was good. Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention!
The ending and the hangman minigame are still in my thoughts weeks later. I would love to play more games like these.
It’s haunting, isn’t it? And the gameplay offers a perfect mixture of frustration and accomplishment. Finding a clue you missed before and getting a new piece of the puzzle was such a dopamine hit! And once you know the whole story, you’re left reading between the lines into what each character must have experienced. It’s fueled on pure logic and mystery. I wish I could play it again for the first time.
