Tin Star testing

Didn’t realize there was a synergistic effect there, I’ll remember to train my sharpshooting before meeting, or meating, the bear.

Oh I have to go in the front door, now I realize my mistake, I snuck in.

Ignore this post.

Piggleywinks- Alright, Apex Patrol has clearly invaded Tin-Star. So, which part begins the loop? That is, with which portion of dialogue do you first notice the repetition? A quick scan of the code has not revealed anything obvious.

…It’s Cowboys Vs Alians?! O.O…sorry could resist that smart-alick ref. >\\\>

I did consider writing a one-off adventure between chapters four and five involving a meteor strike out in the desert…

…You just made my day. XD huh a meteor in the desert. And here I thought all I had to watch out for crazy rich kids and angry bandits. XP

How do you accomplish building the levee during the river flood? I did it once, but I don’t remember what I did exactly.

You need to have lots of shovels and all.

And lots of people too if i remember correctly

I believe I have the people and tools. Got the red ribbin tools and a large crowd of people. This is what I tried so far.
The ones involving dirt, all three of them. So organize dirt teams, pack them, and move them.
I also tried planning out the levee, use the one with wood, and then packing dirt.
Next was planning out the levee, use the one with wood, and then moving dirt.
Finally I tried using wood, packing dirt, and moving dirt.
Really stumped right now.

Red ribbin tools? The only time I had trouble making the levee was when I let the miners keep their dam, it apparently just makes it too much water.

So my preferred method of making the levee is to let Yiska blow the dam sky high.

I am guessing you did that before the flood? The flood goes away if you blow it up during the flood. I am having a blast going through the game and trying different solutions.

Cant wait for the next part! I love this game…Very well done

AngelOfTheBroken- Well, you wouldn’t be fighting the meteor directly. Even I couldn’t justify that…

You never know you could be just riding along, all is nice and calm, and SPLAT! Meteors are sneaky creatures like that~ XD
…or you find the cowboy version of superman!..but yeah seriously attack of the meteor would be a bit of stretch, your awesomeness aside.

starnight- Looking back at the code, the levee construction scene is one of the more complicated pieces to be found. One choice needs to builds upon another and if there aren’t enough idle hands or tools to go around then the levee won’t hold.

The choices are:
Gather wood to bulwark the levee.
Site the levee.
Pack the dirt down at the river.
Dig up the dirt.
Organize teams to move the dirt.

As you have tried a number of solutions to this, which progression seemed most logical to you?

Greenwolf- Thank you. Glad to know I haven’t screwed up yet.

I am still working through Chapter 8 and it has been slow going due to a number of outlying scenes that have to be wrapped up. I am, of course, speaking of the possibility that Carson, Schmidt or Caraway have turned against the MC. Each of those deserved a separate talk and fight.

And there were some other possible crossing scenes and meetings I had to resolve as well.

But things are resolving at nearly a meg of file size, which means I am going to have to split off a chapter 9 to deal with the overflow. Ah well, if I had wanted a short piece of writing I should have stuck to ‘Marine Raider’.

AllenGies- To my best recollection, I tried these solutions. This is from the dam breaking, leaving me with 3 choices before it floods.
Dig up the dirt, teams move the dirt, and pack the dirt. My thoughts was that after digging up the dirt you would then organize teams to move and then pack it.
Then I tried having teams move the dirt, dig up the dirt, and then pack the dirt. I figured that they needed to dig up the dirt first before organizing them to move the dirt too the river for packing.
Then I tried to site the levee, pack the dirt and gather wood for it. I figured it would waste less time building the levee so that leaves with just stregthening the levee with packed dirt and wood.
I then tried gathering wood, digging up dirt, and then packing it at the river. Just did this randomly.
I am assuming the order matters based on what you wrote. I feel like I am overlooking something simple. Just gonna keep at it.

@AllenGies
Sorry I should have given more details for you while it was happening! It was only when I took Schmidt and Carson both. However, I have played and played since and it is not happening anymore. So, crisis diverted. Maybe it was my cache or something causing the snafu.

BTW, I’m still enjoying this game immensely. Your writing and full bodied characters make me want to see the movie version of Tin-Star (aside from the one that plays in my head while playing the game.) Keep up the great work!

Do you want me to continue posting grammatical issues and scene concerns here? I have a pending list but did not want to bog down the forum site here if you wanted them in a different way. I do some editing stuff in my job so those types of things generally jump out at me.

Post a link please.
