The Wayhaven Chronicles General Discussion (SPOILER FREE FOR BOOK THREE!)

Not really nitpicking, more like rightly pointing out that A’s hot & cold/mixed signal bullshit got old two books ago. We’re halfway through the series and we’ve gotten, what, an optional kiss at the end of b3

And the optional hand holding at the fair.

Yeah, I feel like we’re long past the point of “constructive criticism” and are now just passing the same set of complaints- and assumptions about the author- around in a circle over and over. Like at a certain point it’s probably better to just hit da bricks.

Clearly you have never been a Dragon Age fan. This is pretty mild, all things considered. Although I would like to cut author comments out of the roster as well.

I wish. Lol, I really liked M in As route and wish we could start something with them after ditching A for literally hurting us and throwing us away to become overly sweet and attentive :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

rambling about the negative thread

As someone also complaining regularly here, I think it’s a mixture of different things.
1 Miska does not take criticism which leads to people feeling not seen and getting frustrated.
2 as I have said time and time again. Liked works were the author is not in the forum tent to have negative feelings going crazy because the author is not there to react
3 with this series the cost fallacy is real. All the time and love people have put into it only to be told that their opinions don’t matter reinforces the negative feelings.
4 it seems as though feedback is not taken into account. The series could be outstanding but we’ll instead we get a lot of wasted potential

5 and that is me specifically… I HATE the promotion of toxic relationships like A or N as beeing portrait as desirable. Just the best.
Let love break you until the toxic partner can recreate you in their image… I mean if it is a book about that hm ok I might check it out but this is marketed as a romance novel. Not much romance in having a controlling partner of a manipulative person you love or being toxic by stringing two bff along because you just can’t help ituwu:triumph:

Just my opinion on the matter.
I don’t judge if it is okay or not. I think it should be kind of flattering that people are so invested. I also criticise other people’s work and want people to criticise mine because sometimes one just needs to vent and sometimes one searches for answers or ways to improve.
But o well.

I mean we are just venting at this point because we know no one cares for our feedback kinda

Personally if the author/s doesn’t seem to take criticism/feedback or I think a series is going nowhere, I would drop the series and don’t suppport them anymore? I don’t get the reason why a person will going to support or read a series that they think it’s going nowhere…

Edit:Grammer and typos.

I was going to make a “use this line while you can” joke regarding AI, but then I remembered that I haven’t seen any use of AI that doesn’t crash and burn within five minutes, so.

People wrote AI fanfics in some cases, but these are an incoherent mess even with excessive wrangling. I dunno how you reasonably can write an IF if it starts swerving during the first few choices.

Played the demo last night, some brief thoughts on the routes I tried out:

M: the rooftop scene was very sweet in all its little variations without being saccharine and their memory loss is always an interesting topic to delve into. Both B3 and this demo left me feeling very confident as to how their route will play out in B4.

A: I’m glad they didn’t disavow what they admitted to at the end of B3 and I can see this has already led to a shift in their scenes with the MC. There’s still an undercurrent of sadness to A due to their (obviously temporary lol) decision to not persue things further but they’re no longer nervously on their guard around the detective now that they’re not afraid of the truth of their feelings slipping out. It’s a nice change of pace to see them relaxed.

N: I’ll admit I wasn’t into their route in the first two books but started coming around in B3 and can now see what N’s fans who were such from the beginning were on about (especially when pairing N with a hot-tempered MC). Interested in seeing more, especially in terms of hints toward N’s big secret.

Lastly this first chapter had me more curious about this book’s threat than the B3 demo did for its own so I’m excited! I also appreciated the macabre beginning lol

So. I have just reread the demo after ranting I am feeling much better and I must say that rereading Ms route is quite nice. The demo is pretty short so we will see but Last time Misha was actually not so slow once she started writing so I think we will get an update relatively fast :muscle:

I am actually quite intrigued about the new power. Do you guys think that we will have a problem touching stuff?

I mean we have some kind of electric power?
I guess we won’t be able to control that from the get go.
Also did anyone else notice that the MC is kinda like a sponge for supernatural stuff. They absorb parts of it when they get in contact with it. Sera said MC is human, I wonder

Also the text really didn’t say we haven’t seen the RO it says we haven’t seen them often but we haven’t seen the team.

I just wish MC could you know talk things out.
I think N has some issues they need to work through but getting over protective is not healthy. They are not teenagers and N knew that MC is a detective and everything that entails. They really skirt around being toxic.
N does not have to disclose their problems but talking is gold in relationships.

I don’t know why so many of you don’t like Verda. I like him and his little family. I also reaaally wanna know what Eric is and if their daughter is a supernatural as well.

The storyline with Tina is not really my cuppa tea but it does make me question the agency.
do you think the big bad escapee is the new RO? I would not mind romancing an overpowered villain for once :joy:.

I just hope MC will not be having amnesia. I don’t dislike that as a trope but some ROs don’t really have established relationships with them and I would prefer we get on with the romance so the romance plot doesn’t drag on.
I really like that A isn’t retreating. He’s more open this time around. I’m looking forward to future chapters personally. I haven’t decided how my MC for A will react but I probably have to replay M’s and A’s route to see if my MCs for changed when I last played.

I mean sure that’s a good thing but I wish MC could react a little differently.
I would actually like that route if MC could you know stand up for themselves. Not be hostile but try to protect themselves from further hurt. MC was basically friend zoned by their soulmate and they get to smile about it. That’s so sad

I think its the prophesy agent personally.

I bet on the killer from B3. Yeah, female pronouns were used, but who knows? We may be one sike away from a scary hot blond killer for hire.

You mean the dead dude? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I do. You can only romance them on the friendship route, btw.

My current bet is that the electricity is either a side effect of the escape, or the actual power of the escapee.

ROs being messy is usually a pro to me but I’m also used to reading stories way more on the f*cked up side of things (both in terms of love interests and main plot) so I can’t say N even registers as toxic to me lol I’m actually here hoping the levels of toxicity will rise with the reveal of whatever is going on with them :joy:

I think so! It’s possible that the new character initially presented as the potential the villain won’t be the main threat but given that we just had this scenario in B3, I’m inclined to believe they’ll really be the main villain and therefore the new RO. Anyways we’ll soon have our answer when we meet them, as their gender being dependant on the MC’s sexuality like it is for UB would cast off any doubts (up till now they’ve only been referred to as “it” in a dehumanazing way so it’s up in the air).

Yeah they were way too starey < is that a word lol, with my mc

You realise the dude is going to die, likely in the next chapter, right? Osrin literally starts the game dead.

Also, he’s apparently always male, so.
