M is very big in consent. Theres a part in either book or or 2( can’t remember which) that if you’re drunk, they’ll turn you down. They want in your pants, but it’s always strictly consensual.
But sex isn’t the point of giving M a key to the apartment. It’s about inviting M into the MC’s life. It means something, which is why M refuses to accept that part of it.
What Sera is saying in that ask is that M will take the key but won’t use it or acknowledge the MC’s reasons–instead, everything will remain the status quo, with M knocking to come in to ask to fuck because M has no other purpose for being there. That was my take on it, considering how happy all the others were about it, even A.
I will also say that there has to be consent, in fact it’s very explicit to the point of ruining (for me) the flow, otherwise people would eat Sera up for portraying a relationship which isn’t 100% healthy and safe. And before someone comes at me with pitchforks, I did say in the past (in the wip thread for b3 iirc) that obviously I’m all for consent. While also thinking fiction shouldn’t be sanitized for fear of backlash because it’s exactly what it says on the tin, Fiction.
The key thing feels more like an afterthought, but obviously hey anyone’s free to interpret that as they so wish.
I’m not sure what you mean by saying it feels like an afterthought with the key, but I also don’t see consent having anything to do with giving M a key either.
As for M with sexual consent, it really has started ruining any sex scenes in Wayhaven for me. She has M do it to the extreme, perhaps because there is no relationship there and no commitment, so no matter how many times your MC has fucked M, there has to be verbal consent because you never move from square one with them.
Plus, as far as the MC knows, M is out fucking anything with a pulse when they aren’t with the MC. The part in b3 where M refuses sex because the MC has had one goddammed drink really pissed me off. Way to treat the MC like an infant, M.
Yes the consent thing was referring to the way all the intimate scenes go something like “they reach out but wait until I nod” which to me feels like a very clunky and unnecessary way to remind you both parties are fine with physical contact.
Meanwhile the afterthought means I feel like M’s answer was the one with less heart (and work, if that makes sense.)
N and F are super happy, A pretends not to be but it’s not true of course and yeah I guess M is thankful. Obviously it makes sense for them not to be bouncy about it, but idk something bothered me (plus the knocking thing felt too proper, so to speak.)
Like after b3 I think they might feel something ofher than “oh cool” but I guess that’s not true yet sdfk
I have a bad feeling about what we’ll get for M’s path in b4, given all the crap she’s said. And stuff like this ask that implies M still couldn’t give less of a shit about the MC past boinking them, despite everything in b3. Taking a huge step back from that will suck.
And I have a feeling there won’t be sex, either, give the thing she said about the LIs being really bothered by the blood. And I think she said something about them avoiding the MC. Instead of distance making the heart grow fonder, I guess M will just be happy to be free of the MC.
And did you see the Alima question? It will depend on “choices” if we meet her or not. I’m going to be uber pissed if the MC has to go through Alima to talk to M in b4 because M can’t be around the MC. Or worse, if the MC seeks out Alima for someone to commiserate over having M stomp on their heart. Ugh.
I’m working on a response to your response, but in the meantime, how do you feel about the potential villain romance on the friend route? I’m on the fence about it until we learn more about this villain. As readers, we’ll apparently be given insight into their motivations as well. I would have rather that we learn out their motivation after the MC does.
According to all of the things I’ve read on this and other websites, F is the only 100% healthy and safe relationship. With that stated, I’m glad my MCs haven’t slept with anyone; it appears to lack passion. If someone doesn’t want to continue or go all the way, they will usually express this at some point while making out. Do you think it would have been better if she had included options like “Tell M to stop”? or “gradually bring the kiss to a sensual and slow pace.” or “continue to kiss M while starting to undo your pants.”
Does anyone have any screenshots of all the sex scenes? Or do you know when each sex scene is for M and N? I’m trying to see for myself if the sex scenes were decent, but I don’t want to scroll through the entire code if I don’t have to.
Since I don’t play the friend route–and since she’s said the villain is outright evil and it will only be for this installment–all I see this as is something else to make the writing take longer. Worse, I see it as something else that gets in the way of us ever having satisfying romances with M or A. It’s really gonna be a kicker if M is avoiding the MC and refusing sex with a MC who is locked into their romance while someone on the friend route gets a passionate love affair with the villain.
As for the villain themselves, I really don’t know enough to care about them yet, either. All I know from her updates is that there are tons of POV changes because of the villain, which irks me already. I’m sick of POV changes where I–the player–get all kinds of insight into things while my MC remains ignorant (this includes the LI’s thoughts). It doesn’t help my MC and, therefore, doesn’t help my playing experience.
I think she means for N to be healthy, too. And for A to be overwhelmingly angsty but healthy because it’s twu wuv from first sight for A. I honestly think she intends for M not to be healthy at all, since there’s no relationship and likely won’t be till very near the end, if it’s ever acknowledged at all.
I like this better than the weird way it’s done. I am sick of the “are you sure” crap, though. If my MC wasn’t sure, she wouldn’t have agreed to sex. Don’t keep asking. It ruins the mood.
As for screenshots, I can dig some up for M. I never finished N’s route in b3 because it was too weird. But I may be able to grab the code pretty quick.
I don’t play the friend route either, so I’m kind of hoping I don’t vibe with this character because coming up with another character to fit the villain will be a headache and a heart attack. If this does come to fruition, I wonder if the friendships between the MC and Unit B will take a negative blow. The agency would actually have every right to fire the MC or put them on probation for engaging with the villain unless it’s going to be painted as if the MC didn’t know they were the villain, while we, the readers, do, and they just got played.
Exactly. I want to be surprised by the actions of the antagonists and villains. A little bit of mystery and piecing the clues together never hurt. Sera is definitely capable of doing that considering we still don’t know who the mole is; we have hunches but no concrete information, and that’s what makes it exciting and holds people’s interest.
If anything, it has the potential to influence how you play the game. For example, we knew pretty early on that Sin was being forced to capture the supernatural; therefore, the player may just be nice to Sin because we already know they’re innocent.
I agree; unfortunately, it doesn’t come across the way she potentially wanted it after Book One. Book Two is when certain aspects shifted and didn’t align with who was supposed to be viewed as healthy and unhealthy. N and A are unhealthy from certain readers’ perspectives, while M is gradually becoming the healthier choice.
If you can, I would really appreciate it.
Me: I need to assess the madness!
LI: Are you sure?
Do you mean the romance or the villain is going to be only in this instalment?
I think Mishka mentioned that both of those are true - the villain and their romance would only be in this book
Thanks for the clarification. I though this villain was going to be the same as b5 the leader of the rouge or we would have more books with the same villain. But I guess we’ll see.
Meaning there will be yet another cardboard, filler, villain of the week?
Okay, here are the Mason screencaps for the available sex scenes in b3:
Bow chicka wow wow
Chapter 2 - Interrupted (not bad with just a nod, I guess)
This is annoying - invite him up and get the “are you sure?” FFS, she just invited you up, you idiot!
This is one of the weirdest sex scenes I’ve ever read…
This one was good, with none of the weird confirmation questions.
I’ll see if I can get N’s later.
I think this villain is one the leader of the rogues sends after the MC, given the very last scene of b3.
A bit more on the villain “romance” was shared today in an ask:
Did you expect something different? Only difference is that this one can be the MC’s soulmate.
Mmmmmm… No, I didn’t. “Soulmate”… I’ll belive it if he/she’ll make it to the series final.
I wonder why she came up with villain romance only now.
Plenty of people would love to bang Falk in b2 for example, so why he wasn’t option for friend route?
I have no idea. I think Falk would’ve made for a great antagonist romance. I loved the scene where he shows up in the MC’s bedroom and the MC is like, “what will the neighbors think?” and he’s all, “if you’d like, we could give them a lot to mull over…”
I’m just hoping the “villain” in b4 flirts with all the MCs in way to annoy M and A. I’d like to see those two insecure for once, instead of it always being the MC who gets emotionally knocked around.
A villain romance sounds like lot of fun, but I’m a little hesitant to get invested since it’s a one-off (which, again, makes sense. Although, I need that to play into the dynamic with the canon Ros. Can’t imagine you’ll be able to play romeo and juliet for x time and your boo won’t go uh honey wtf is happening.)
Overall I think exploring a new prospective could be great to freshen up things, but I wish it could have been a more permanent thing. Like here, have a villain ro for idk a path where you get tired of the agency and join maybe auntie.
Thank you so much; I really appreciate this.
These sex scenes appear to be a combination of teenage and mature content. They aren’t a fade-to-black, but they aren’t very detailed either. I’m not trying to be harsh to the author, but I don’t like any of them. The descriptors for fireworks, the sizzle and pop sensations, explosions, the continual being straddled rather than performing the straddling, and so on. They’re also lacking in passion.
I’m not sure whether there’s a limit to how explicit you can be with the detailed scenes if you give an alternative fade-to-black option for people who don’t want to read that, but to enhance the scenes a bit, there could be some details added when it comes to M kissing the MC’s body without overdoing it. Such as kissing the neck and licking down the body until they reach the breast or pec, where they deliver rough but slow sucks on the nipple. Allow them to grip and caress the chest area.
I also don’t like what they’re doing with their fingers; the phrase “skillful dance” reminds me of Scarlet Witch and what she does with her fingers. I believe it would have been great to just express how deep the fingers felt, as well as a brief description of pressing against the walls.
I’ve read far too many graphic scenes for this to be exciting for me since I enjoy immersing myself in these games, but it’s enough for a teen/mature-rated scene. I’m not sure; please let me know whether I’m dragging it.
I didn’t play my game like this, but I could’ve sworn I read that M was showing some insecurities if you had your MC kiss Bobby and Bobby snitched.
Speaking of Bobby, this villain romance gave me an idea. If you used to date Bobby during the friendship path, Bobby should be the MC’s endgame romance if you choose it. It wouldn’t be written as a romance, but the same way it’s been written, and then as time passes, the MC experiences the changes and more depth when it comes to Bobby. Perhaps the MC might gradually begin to flirt with them during Book 6, and then in Book 7, you have the option to try a romantic relationship with them again. It’s not going to happen, but I just wanted to share this idea.
In her defense, you can choose to be the one doing the straddling. Dezh is just very… uncertain… where Mason is concerned, at this point. She’ll bold flirt at him all day long as long as he starts it, but she typically waits for him to make a move–she doesn’t want to find out he’s done with her and has moved on by trying to kiss him and having him turn away in disgust. And yeah, she thinks that may happen even when he’s just asked her to bone in b3… in b2, she was more confident and took control during the tree blow job scene and going to bang in the haunted house. After the scene at the bakery, she’s just waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak, and knows he’ll be done with her soon. That means M avoiding her in b4 and reverting back to being a dick will be loads of fun for her. Not…
Still, I didn’t get the car sex with Mason straddling her. That image is just hilariously wrong to me. Waiting for someone to make the first move doesn’t mean you won’t shift positions or be passionate, and it would’ve made more sense if he had pulled her to straddle him instead. And, like you said, the scenes just lack passion.
I think N’s pool table scene was a supposed to be more passionate than the M scenes, but I just thought it was weird. And really uncomfortable sounding, lol.
Blood Moon had some pretty detailed sex scenes and they were hot. They also felt more… not sure of the correct word, but like both parties were fully participating, instead of one laying there like a lump moaning while the other did all the work. In Wayhaven, it feels like that’s how most of the scenes go–if your MC isn’t taking charge, they’re just along for the ride. Pun intended.
My M-mancer didn’t kiss Bobby. Didn’t even let him in her apartment. Amusingly, during b3, she went from 0 Bobby relationship points to like 4 or 5. I think Mason is breaking her down enough that she’s beginning to feel bad for Bobby. She’s kind of an idiot sometimes…
I like this idea, actually, provided she lets Bobby change to not be such a self-centered asshole all the time. There are glimpse of it during b3, with Bobby being more decent, but she seems to hate the character, so I’m not counting on anything. Then again, she seems to hate M, too, and they’re a RO, lol.
