The Wayhaven Chronicles General Discussion (SPOILER FREE FOR BOOK THREE!)

Oh man, if this is the case, N’s path is going to move up for me. I hate angst, but him going all mean vampire would be priceless.

Hell, I want to see him do this on all the routes–can you imagine badN attacking A’s detective? Or M’s? What fun!

I’m still not sold on the light-N dark-N theory, but I would also kinda like to see this. Alternatively could you imagine this in the live triangle route. The drama!

As spring break approaches, I thought it might be time for another hypothetical:

You and Tina have been been planning this trip for a LONG time. Before you ever became detective. You didn’t think you’d be able to go with the big promotion, but Tina promised you’d cut the trip short if anything serious happens. And the plan was going smoothly… until the team found out ! After a lot of arguing back and forth, N managed to negotiate a compromise: your LI will go with you!

So, what epic vacation did you and Tina plan? And what does your LI think of this plan? (ex. love vs hate the beach)

This is another fun one!

Tina and Ellie would have made plans for a vacation somewhere that’s the opposite of the sleepy little town of Wayhaven. Probably New York City as it offers something for both of them – Broadway, Central Park, etc. for Ellie, a busy and vibrant nightlife for Tina, and window shopping (because that’s the only kind of shopping they can afford on their salaries) on Fifth Avenue for both of them.

And I think we all know how Mason feels about this plan. Ellie would take him aside and tell him that while she would love for him to come along (grumpiness and all), she wouldn’t force him to go some place where he’d be uncomfortable and overwhelmed, and she would make sure he knows she 100% respects and supports his decision. (This feels more like a vacation that would be up Nate’s or Felix’s alley anyway.)

Thanks as always for these scenarios, @Anna_B! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Ooh, sounds fun! And yeah, that doesn’t sound like it’s masons scene AT ALL :joy:!
And thanks, I like hearing everyone’s answers

This is a fun one @Anna_B!

Dezh (M): The plan was a cabin in the mountains, near a stream/lake/river/some body of water and near nothing else, with porches off the front, back, and bedrooms. I think Mason would love it, except for Tina being there–but it’s a big cabin (Dezh can’t take small, cramped spaces) so Mason can avoid being around her, and he should be good with that.

Zaraya (A): A hippie beach town, with lots of small local shops and restaurants/pubs with live music. Z likes the beach during the day (the more sun the better) and she and Tina would likely rent a small house on the beach in a town like this. Adam would hate every minute of it.

Triss (N): Much like Z, Triss loves the beach, but she hates the sun and doesn’t believe in roughing it, so they’d either plan to rent a big, posh condo or stay in a posh hotel–facing the beach, of course, and with a balcony. I think Nate would love it–the high-end digs would fit his tastes and I think he’d like the beach.

Jax (F): She and Tina would to a huge city with lots to do. Somewhere like NY City or Paris or London. They’d hit all the bars and have a loud, obnoxious time with a lot of experiences and constant running around from one place to another. I think Felix would totally love this!

Ahh, this is such a great question! Real life had me busy all day, so I’m just now getting to answer this, but I love it.

Areylia(A): Areylia would take a trip to Ireland, and take a tour of all the castles, and critique them. I’m sure Tina would enjoy seeing the castles and being overly dramatic in her analysis, with Adam rolling his eyes the whole time, but I imagine that since we learn in book 2 that A is nobility, Adam would have more knowledge of castles to contribute, and would likely be a bit smug about knowing more than them.

Lukas (N): Lukas and Tina I think would want to go hit some major tourist city, and just try to cram as many sight seeing into a single trip as possible. I think Nat would also appreciate this trip, especially if it was a city with a lot of historical sites as well.

Riley (F): I can’t really see Riley agreeing to this trip in the first place, but since we all know how Tina can be, I’m assuming she was forced to use her vacation days, and Tina forced her to go on this trip. If she had to take a trip she would want to go to Universal Studios theme park, and I think we all know that Felix would have a blast there.

Cat (M): Cat is mostly to be the one who wants a beach trip, and she would want to be fairly isolated and just relax. I don’t see Mason enjoying the beach very much: sand + overactive hypersenses = misery, but he’d get to Cat in a bathing suit which would be the least amount of clothing he’d seen her wear, so that’s a win.

Rhianonn (LT): I can see her a Tina planning a trip to NYC, so Rhiannon can see a Broadway musical, and Tina can enjoy all the environment and tourist sights. Nate would love it, but Adam would probably not. He might like the musical though just probably not the rest of it.

Ellie(LT): She would want to do something exotic like hiking in the amazon, and I’m sure Tina would love the adventure. I think both Adam and Nate would be freaking out over all the ways she could hurt herself or something could go wrong, and just not enjoy themselves.

Does anyone here have a guide for book1 and 2?

I wonder, do personality stats affect flavour text? Or the stats are just for the purpose of the reader being able to keep check on their MC? I mean in some games personality stats can cause the MC acting based on those without the reader picking a choice (or it can backfire when we pick a choice which doesn’t exactly suit the MCs already build up personality), does that happen in this game too?

Another question (a spoilery one, so I get it if I don’t get an answer for this one): if Murphy manages to escape in book 1, will he come back in a later book to try to get the MC?

Personality stats definitely affect flavor text, probably more so in Wayhaven than in any other series I’ve seen, with maybe the exception of the Infinity series. For example, if your character is usually sarcastic (has a high sarcastic score) and says something genuine, someone says something along the lines of “wow, wasn’t expecting that, you’re usually a fountain of sarcasm”.

From what I remember, no you’re not locked out of any choices based on personality stats and your MC won’t act a certain way based on their stats without you making a choice. There’s also no penalty for not acting in line with your stats, unless there’s a stat check, but I wouldn’t consider failing a stat check a penalty.

Not sure, the author has stayed pretty quiet about this from what I remember, so I’m assuming it’s spoilery.

We don’t know, but considering there’s no way to actually kill Murphy or even actively keep tabs on him, I’m 97.26% sure he’ll be making a comeback. There’s no other reason for Sera to keep him as a dangling plot thread.

While we don’t know how or for what reason Murphy will be returning, the author has at least confirmed that he will be making a reappearance later in the series.

Considering Sera is still writing it, I’m gonna guess “not soon”.

(also, “are we there yet?” types of questions are not kosher)

'Snot a problem.

Hehe.

“Snot”.

We’re only a week away from Easter, so I thought I’d give a nice Easter hypothetical! It’s less hypothetical than usual, but I think it works.

It’s Easter in Wayhaven, how does your detective celebrate? Do they recognize the religious aspects? Do they attend an egg hunt, and then head down to the spring fling? Or is it all just stupid kid stuff?

All the nopes. Like, all of them.

Not of their own initiative, though Tina and/or F would probably want to go, and my Detective wouldn’t mind accompanying them.

I have no idea what this is. Is this an American thing?
