The Wayhaven Chronicles General Discussion (SPOILER FREE FOR BOOK THREE!)

That sounds pretty similar to how it would go with Yuri and UB. Though giving F access to social media is probably a horrible idea. He can barely keep a secret in person. One can only imagine the slip ups he could make there. xD

Dezh did this in my fic. And will live to regret it in the very near future. She really should’ve thought that out more… though that’s what you get from a MC that’s over 70% impulsive.

Lols, she definitely will. Ahhh, yeah. Yuri isn’t nearly as impulsive as when I first made her. But even then, she knows well enough not to do that. She does love to text him the most. He’ll go back and forth with her and indulge her heavy use of complicated but cute Japanese emojis. xD

Aww, that’s cute! Isn’t it funny how your MCs kind of evolve differently than you expect when you first make them? That 70% impulsive is actually lower for Dezh that it was originally. Someone suggested not doing the tests for UB so Sanja could survive for Dezh’s run, and since it was one of those choices where she could’ve gone either way, I decided to give it a go. And after doing it, I realized that was how she would’ve chosen–not because a lack of impulse control (you get a high bump on impulsive with that choice!) but because she doesn’t trust anyone at first, especially not big organizations with hidden missions. So her not taking the tests was totally her and I guess I was forcing her the other direction! Now, she’d do them… not for the Agency but for UB. Because she actually trusts them. Well, except for Rebecca, who she doesn’t trust at all.

Oooh, interesting ~ I always take the tests and still manage to save Sanja. Kills my heart for obvious reasons but it always feels good to get that A scene ~ Especially since Yuri is multilingual. x3 She also chooses that choice because she is curious and wants to learn about her blood. And aww, I see. Yuri loves her mama and is close to her. But I can totally understand that.

Wait, taking the tests or not influences Sanja’s survival chances?

It does. But in addition to other choices you make. It’s not exactly the deciding factor. But it definitely can swing the outcome either way, depending.

In most cases I think they would get along, especially if they like went to a gun range, but there is one major hiccup I foresee. Lukas really doesn’t like fighting women, and would likely refuse to fight her, and if he did, he’d hold back a bit which if I’m reading Dezh correctly, would piss her off. Logically, he’d understand that women can fight and if he saw Dezh fighting, he’d likely be impressed, he just strongly dislikes the idea. Which is actually very amusing considering he has female students that he doesn’t hold back on. Even funnier in his playthrough UB is all female which makes for some interesting group dynamics. Maybe Ava will beat it out of home eventually.

Basically, if you choose Sanja over your RO she will always live. If you did the blood test and save your RO, she always does, but if you skip the blood tests, and save your RO, there is a possibility she’ll survive if you make certain choices.

Yeah, the problem is that Dezh would always save Mason over pretty much anyone, at this point. It’s one of those options that there is no question which way she’d go, so if she doesn’t do the tests, Sanja dies. Thankfully, not taking the tests solves that issue and she’s happier with it.

For Zaraya… honestly, I’m still developing her, so she might go with what Adam says and save Sanja at some point, but has been defaulting to saving Adam. After writing her some more, I’ll figure it out. She’s pretty much by the book (80%, as opposed to Dezh’s 25% by the book, lol), so it’s possible she may end up going that route. I sure hope so, because I’d love for her to get that scene, but my characters are gonna do what they’re gonna do and I try not to interfere unless it’s one of those choices where they don’t care either way.

For Jax and Triss, there’s no way they’d choose a virtual stranger over the guys they’re falling for, so that’s that. Jax didn’t do the tests, though, so Sanja lives in her route. She’s pretty much a set character now, so I know that’s the way she’d roll. For Triss, she’s another one that’s developing as she goes, so she might do the tests, depending on how the mood hits her.

Yep, that would seriously piss her off!!

That is amusing. Dezh doesn’t realize it, but when she first joined the fight club, the guys there held back big time. I mean, she was 16 years old and though she’d had martial arts training since she was five and was already damned good, she was still smaller than everyone there and a girl fighting against (mostly) grown ass men, so they had to hold back some. The guys who run the club made it clear to the members, until she got older, that only certain people they trusted were to fight her (there was only one that slipped through and it ended poorly).

They still hit her, and it hurt, so she didn’t notice. As she got older and better, they stopped holding back on her. But she either never picked up on that or subconsciously chose to ignore it (knowing her, it’s the latter). Now, she’s good enough to take pretty much anyone down (as indicated by her 80% combat ability). But spirits help her if she needs people skills… her 1% people skills are gonna haunt her one day, I’m sure.

I totally get that. I (well, we, because Yuri also does) always want to save Adam… but Yuri is as much about duty and the mission and she’ll do what he says because she believes it’s the right thing to do. It’s what she set out to do, and she trusted Adam would be okay. And he was, even if he did give her a scare. Then the scene. It was well worth it for everyone to come out alive and well. <3

I believe in you! It’s all about figuring out the MC. It’ll always take a few playthroughs and tests to see how you feel before you eventually settle on a route. Though even know, I flipflop despite going through the game so many times already. I know a friend of mine and I are always like “Okay, this is it, this is her set personality.” and then later on we’re like “Sooo, I did another playthrough and tweaked my replies a bit.” Lols. xD

All in all, I could never let Sanja die is the bottom line for me (and Yuri). She kind of got attached to the woman after just the first meeting and she really cares about people in general. Adam definitely thinks she needs to be more cautious and self preserving at times, even if he doesn’t follow his own advice. xD

Yeah, it sounds like Yuri is very much about duty, so it makes sense that, no matter how much she wants to save Adam, she’ll do what she was sent there to do (which is exactly what Adam wants!). That’s one reason I’m still trying to figure out just what Zaraya would do–because she’s very much about duty and saving others, and she knows Adam is a vampire and has super healing and, given that she has pretty good reasoning skills, it almost seems like a no-brainer… until she’s actually in the situation. So yeah, I just need to write her some more, like I have with Dezh–writing fanfic with your MCs really helps you get to know them better, since they aren’t locked into a situation someone else set up for them. Getting them in situations where you are their god and throw obstacles at them helps a lot more.

Yes!! This is so true. With Triss and Z, I still replay book 1 to see if they’ll do things different. After going with the notests for Dezh, she’s like, “Why the hell are you making me do this again? It’s settled… move on.” (I think it’s partially because UB got on her damned nerves in b1, too, but she won’t admit it, lol)

Yep. I had one playthrough of book 2 a few weeks ago where Dezh actually hugged Nate. And left me sitting there going wtf! Dezh does not initiate hugs! Or so I thought… I’m still reeling over that one. We’ll see if she does the same next time I play.

Yeah, I liked Sanja. My MCs did, too. But given a choice between saving someone they don’t know that well and saving the guys they’re falling in love with, most of them will go for the loved one. Now, if it had been a choice between sacrificing herself to save Sanja? Or to save anyone from UB, especially Mason? Dezh would’ve done it without a thought. Hell, she was ready to hand herself over to Murphy to save UB (and especially Mason) in b1. And she did it every damned time I played, so I knew that was a definite with her. Zaraya would do the same, as would Triss. Jax… would not. She’d just run get someone else to help, lol.

Oh yeah, I know this very well. Writing for Yuri is really fun. And as an avid writer since, like, middle school, always writing things out for the characters definitely gives you a better perspective of them and you delve into things you never really would have otherwise.

Omg, that definitely doesn’t sound like her at all from all I’ve read. But at some point, she has to give in and open up to these guys eventually. xD

That totally makes sense. Yuri is too compassionate to let someone even more defenseless than her love interest possibly die. On top of completing the mission. Omg, Murphy! Yuri doesn’t do that, she just yells at him, asking him why he’s an asshole (obviously not the words said but she definitely would have said them, lol).

I definitely agree with this this. Its also very stress relieving. I actually have save files named “Character- Final Draft”.

I had a similar experience with Areylia a while back. Areylia really dislikes touching in general, even with people she’s close to. Then in the book three demo after the incident with the neighbor’s bathtub and the apartment Nate was being all sweet and Areylia gave him a hug. I’m not sure who was more surprised, him or me.

Lukas is sitting in just about the same position on both of these. Although, I think his people skills are at 8% its still single digits, and pretty bad. And his is completely in the same boat on protecting the people he cares about.

Most of my MCs also chose to save Sanja over their RO, actually. Although they all have vastly differing reasons. Lukas and Eleanor were the only one’s who didn’t.

This is very similar to Cat’s reasoning for saving Sanja. She saw a defenseless civilian who needed her, and rushed to help without a second thought. She also kinda sees Mason as invincible, so that helped make the decision easy for her.

Side note: I had a bit of a rough morning (nothing really bad just a lot of little things adding up), and seeing everyone’s comments through out the day was really nice, so I just wanted to let you guys know that.

I hope you get a lot of good big things add up soon.

I do too! Haha. And I agree that it is stress relieving? Of course, if I go into a playthrough for a reread, because I’m romancing A, I can say there is some stress lmao.

Yes, save her ~ I’ve always avoided the thought of things that happen when you don’t save her and your stats for her surviving… make it so she doesn’t. Then of course I think Yuri just really doesn’t want to disappoint Adam (nor would she be able to really cope if Sanja died when she could have saved her). ;w;

Yeah, that’s kind of how Yuri sees Adam. He’s also the leader of UB for a reason, right? She can rely on that fact. She knows they might not always be that lucky… but in the moment, she never regrets her decision and it all always turns out for the best.

Awww, I’m sorry to hear about your rough morning. It really is the worst time for things to, well, start being overwhelming. I hope these comments did help and your day gets better. :3c

Omg, you guys are so much fun and distracting! I was writing a fic but also reading your replies, and I kept wanting to jump in, but held myself back. (I have a complicated relationship with fic-writing, so when the inspiration hits, I throw myself into it.)

Yes, and I promise, this last time is it. I’m 100% satisfied with Ellie’s answers now

…

Probably.

Oooh, really? I don’t know why this surprises me; that absolutely sounds like Yuri. (Plus, I have the document with Yuri’s Book One playthrough, but I think I need the updated version. But if you’re going to do another playthrough…)

Ellie is also in the ‘offers herself up to keep everyone safe’ boat because all she wants to do is keep her loved ones safe, and if going with Murphy is what it takes, then she’ll do it without complaint. And she really thought that if she cooperated with him, then he would leave Mason alone and call off his thralls. (One of her best and worst traits is taking people at their word/believing in people.) So when Murphy drugged Mason right in front of her with DMB, she really didn’t see it coming. She desperately wanted to get to Mason, and hated that she would have willingly put herself in a position that made it impossible to help him.

I do this too! Of course, then I change an answer, and I have to go through and save the new playthrough… I think my most recent save for Ellie’s Book One playthrough is titled ‘Ellie [Canon Route (for realsies this time)]’.

I know I talked about this further up in the thread, so I’ll be good and not gush about it too much, but this is pretty similar to Ellie’s reasoning for saving Sanja. She definitely had that split second of ‘What should I do?’ because she felt that immediate tug to rush to Mason, but because he told her to save Sanja, and Ellie knowing he could take care of himself while Sanja was more vulnerable, she couldn’t just leave her defenseless. (But also, Ellie’s lack of combat skills makes her a bit of a liability in situations like that.) After everything that happened though, Mason is her top priority, even at the cost of mission objectives. What happened to Mason had a stronger emotional impact on her than even the Murphy incident.

Random question, but how do you all pronounce Sanja’s name? I pronounce it like ‘Sonya’, but with an ‘ah’ sound rather than an ‘oh’ sound. But I’m not really familiar with proper pronunciations of Estonian(?) names, so I’ve always wondered about the correct pronunciation.

I’m really sorry to hear this. I’m sending all the warmest hugs and most positive feelings to you. Please treat yourself to something that makes you happy; you deserve it. <3

We live to distract each other so this was nothing new for me hehe. x3
I also feel like I get distracted much easier than you though. xD

Mhmm. I believe you. As much as I believe I’m settled on Yuri’s playthrough. xP

I don’t recall which one I have but I definitely need to send you an updated version! I am going through a playthrough when I get home today, which is your fault of course. xP

Over Yuri’s dead body. They really are opposite in most ways. xD But omg yeah. Murphy is an asshole and Yuri is quite satisfied to get her hit in when he tries to bite her.

Until we get Book 3 to distract us (though, tbf, there’s a bunch of CoG games announced for this year that’ll distract me just fine), we got to do the distracting ourselves.

It’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it. It’s not like we’re a bunch of Fs that can spend a whole day throwing paper planes organising the office.

PFFT! I mean, I keep myself occupied with a couple others. All thanks to @Lambkin again. She’s the one that pulled me into these and got me obsessed. (I can’t really complain, I love these games!)

I always choose this option. And because I’m romancing Adam, it is always funny when he walks in to that paper plane. I always laugh. xD (And get low key distracted because, well, visualizing reasons >.>;;).

Who is your MCs Bestie?
  • Adam/Ava
  • Nate/Nat
  • Felix/Farah
  • Mason/Morgan

0 voters

So, I don’t know if this question has been posed and I figured I might as well make it a poll (okay, it wasn’t my idea, but thank you @Lambkin for letting me know my options ~) For those of you with multiple MCs, and even those of you with just the one, please also post why! I would love to see why we love our besties since we give our LI so much attention. <3

I’ll go first! Yuri’s bestie is Mason. In the beginning, the two rubbed each other the wrong way with his difficult personality and her ‘I’m not gonna put up with your shit’ attitude (which, to be fair, she also throws at Adam because we all know how much of an asshole he is in the beginning lols). But as time goes, they find they can actually rely on each other and they share some similar humor (much to Nate’s dismay) as well as a fondness of sarcastic/witty remarks. Her loyalty to the team and UB also seems to help break down Mason’s walls and boy oh boy. Despite the fact that getting certain attention from Adam at times is really nice… there is something about having the most hostile member ‘defend your honor’ when normally more rational members should have been much more mindful. He’s one of those “once you get their loyalty, it feels amazing” type characters and I really love that about him.
