was a victim of bullying as a kid . Saying ‘well she may have broke your arm! but look it traumatized her too! and now she stopped picking on peoples !’’ …well thats good and well…but I still want a freaking apologie…sheesh .

being kind to a jerk…to me , its spell ‘Enabling’ . I know the approach of 'More kindness will change them ‘’ . But that doesn’t always work . I know this is a book and not real life of course…
But I go with my own personal experience , and in my book…pushing M to admit guilt would be my route to take . I think the ‘Kill with kindness’ may also work…but depand on the offence . If they do something real bad…then I’m knocking their ass off and make them admit guilt and apologize .

I actually don’t see that working. M doesn’t seem the type to dwell on things all that much, so I don’t see them actively apologizing. (Unless maaaaybe if they really screwed up.) Rather they’d move on and perhaps start to watch themselves better and try to make fewer mistakes.

Here’s the thing. M isn’t actively a jerk to the other memebers of Unit Bravo. I figure once they know they have nothing to worry about then they’re going to not be an asshole to the MC either.

Now I can’t get the image of M, this big bad vampire, being defeated easily by a dog whistle. Their Aquiles’ heel if you will.
Exactly. M may be a bit of an ass here and there but that’s just the way they are. I think all of UB see each other as family - and that includes grumpy M and angsty A. So I wager that the MC will one day be a part of this dysfunctional family too.
Also, thank you @rose-court for all your hard work. I know I haven’t helped even a little bit - because my memory is absolute trash and I don’t even remember what I had for lunch today much less what we have discussed months ago - but I’m sure I speak for all of us Whayhaveners that your efforts are truly appreciated. 
I personally can’t wait to read about all the theories in an organized and cohesive manner.
