This is very subtle, but in B1 after the fight with Murphy when Rebecca gets there she’s panicking, N looks at A, A gives a nod of their head and N rests a hand on Rebecca’s shoulder
This has got me wondering if there are any other subtle instances where any of the vampires have tried this with the MC. After nothing happens, they just confirm to themselves the MCs passive ability really does work.
Doesn’t F do this if they join you on patrol in B1, and it works to ward off not!Murphy just not in the way they intended? Or am I misremembering? I vaguely recall F potentiating their weak pheromones with the MC’s lust.
M has a scare during the patrol for the EXACT OPPOSITE reason, which is great
You could be thinking of not!Murphy’s attempt at the blood lab, which has him momentarily looking at his hands as if they were broken.
Ah, see - I’m not entirely sure if it was against their will. Perhaps “in a fit of madness”, as it used to be called, but that’s not quite the same thing. I don’t think N was always as nice as we see them, and the trauma of being turned may have pushed them over an edge when it came to avenging their sibling. Just speculation!
Hmm. For some reason I feel this has indeed happened, but I can’t recall a specific scene at the moment.
One of the few Wayhaven fanfictions I’m tempted to write would be at the end of book 3 on M’s route wherein M reminds MC that there was something they wanted to say after they got back from the crystal cleansing but couldn’t finish, and MC gets to finish their love confession. I’m not sure if it would be a happy ending, a sad ending, or two chapters, one for each. Since M and my MC did have sex at the end of book 3 (and the end of book 3 was their first time with each other) it would probably be set in the aftermath of that encounter—in the sad end scenario it would be probably even more of a gut punch and a worse repeat of the earlier kiss scene. Not sure if this is the right place to share it, but here it is.
Do it. I’m going a different direction–with an epilogue of sorts, where the MC spills it and it ends up being humorous because of the discussion about the shot M took and my MC’s inability to read between the lines. Screw this whole “M doesn’t know yet” bullshit. I want follow through on the talk with A and the shot.
Gah, don’t know why I’m hanging on. Guess I’m just holding onto a hope that A’s situation is going to be handled well. If it goes back to push-pull, that’s not a healthy way to deal with it, so I’ll be out. Withholding affection is an abuse tactic. In a story that isn’t supposed to be abusive, and isn’t about exploring abusive concepts, we don’t need that here.
If M is getting the A treatment I want out of that, too, because that route is so enjoyable. Really enjoyed M this book. Felt some of the personal scenes were a little weak but the character development was great.
That just leaves me with N. And if all I have is N, then I better get some freaky-but-fun bloodletting every night for dessert, or something.
Yeah, the M route is the clear winner of B3. M is BY FAR my favourite of the ROs (yeah, acknowledge my agency harder, baby), but M3 is the first time where it’s also unarguably the best route.
This makes sense, too! I’m actually kind of excited to learn more about N at this point. I’ve noticed most of his weirdness around blood but I’m wondering how deep down the rabbit hole Sera is willing to go with this?
I find N’s backstory the most intriguing. I think there may be more secrets involved than with M. Definitely looking forward to exploring those two most out of the four (F’s is sad but not terribly mysterious, while A’s… don’t get me started).
Yeah, that’s my stance on Wayhaven - it exists for the character interactions. The setting is merely a place for the characters to exist while interacting, and the plot is mostly so the characters have something to discuss other than their relationship.
Or something to help them avoid talking about their non-relationship, where A and M are concerned?
I’m kinda hoping that’s the case, but I don’t know how she’d show up unless she’s working with the Agency.
I was thinking, after reading through posts… for those who went the research route in b3, did you see any hints that there may be something like the soul bond with the MC and LIs? Mishka has always said these are soulmate type connections (between the MC and RO), and that she views it as kind of magical–it would be interesting if it was magical, if it’s something where it’s an actual soul bond instead of whatever shit was supposedly going on between Sin and the auctioneer. And if it somehow played into the story…
None that I picked up on. F’s the expert on soulbonds (because nobody else on the team knows jackshit about them, so the little they DO know wins by default), and what they say implies that vampires don’t form soulbonds. I have a vague recollection that the annunaki research (“finding out what annunaki are like as a people” option) also says that very few supernatural species can form soulbonds, too.
Yeah it would, but I guess it was just a pile of worthless crap used specifically for this plot, if most supernaturals can form them and vampires never form them.
Oh well, would’ve been cool! And explain why the MC can’t walk away from A’s garbage. And M’s, apparently.
It’s always possible I’m either misremembering or reading too much into what is said in-game. Or that F is wrong.
I mean, annunaki soulbonding is creepy AF, even if it’s the real thing, because they are especially vulnerable to it, but that doesn’t mean other soulbonds, if they exist, work the same way.
