Exhibit A: M’s general demeanor is not troll-ish. They don’t care enough about how other people feel about their actions to be a troll. They just say what they think.
Exhibit B: The definition of trolling itself:
Summary
In Internet slang, a troll (/troʊl, trɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting quarrels or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal, on-topic discussion, often for the troll’s amusement.
This sense of both the noun and the verb “troll” is associated with Internet discourse, but also has been used more widely. Media attention in recent years has equated trolling with online harassment. For example, the mass media have used “troll” to mean “a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families”
Just checking. XD I’ll be honest, I haven’t done any RPing in my whole life so I have no idea. Sorry! I suppose we must continue with the court proceedings.
yay my time as come, years of playing Phoenix Wright, don’t fail me now!
@Hannah_Minger that definition only applies to an Internet Troll, where M would be a real life one for the Detective. Plus, they might not care about what people think they certainly seem to care about how they feel considering they will go out of their way to make the MC aggravated, flustered, or confused. Though, I should note, M doesn’t quite cross the line into the bully territory since they never try to really harm the MC physically or emotionally besides arguably the Branch of Friendship ™ Incident.
Where Internet Trolls do like to spread their chaos among large groups M has a much smaller circle to work with. They won’t dare do that to Rebecca, F is their partner in crime most of the time since F can also be a bit of a troll themselves, so before the Detective their only targets were A and N, and while we’re not sure if M does that to A with the evidence we have yet there is an instance of M lightly trolling N at the end of the game when they turn N’s words into a sexual euphemism before going to debrief the Detective, even if, as we see later, M was rather tame when alone with the Detective so we can only assume they did it purely to get a rise out of N.
And THAT, Judge @rose-court , is my rebuttal. Thank you.
Well, since I’m sleepy, I force the jury to find M a big giant troll.
Therefore in the case of M vs. the People, we find in favor of the prosecutor, @Mewsly.
Congratulations! The system works! arbitrarily upon my whims!
(Raises hand from jury pool) Are we breaking it down by category (tea bag vs. loose leaf, for example)? Or does that even factor into this?
I don’t care one way or the other. I just feel like being picky.
I don’t think M is a troll. M simply doesn’t give any fucks about anything and tries to have fun or amuse themselves when possible and he likes it when the detective is the same. F on the other hand…
This isn’t fair. You cannot survive life without water and you cannot survive college without coffee so tea is clearly at a big disadvantage…
I have failed. I fell asleep during the trial. (I’m so happy that you did the emoji finger guns, my mom always told to stop because “nobody does that.”)
I would argue that your gonna need all three to deal with the massive headache M’s gonna give you.
I’d agrue finding amusement in the annoyance and frustration of others is the very definition of a troll, and M finds amusement in other’s annoyance and frustration.
F wasn’t the one on trial and their troll-ness doesn’t make M any less of a troll themselves. They are partners in Trolling.
I don’t drink coffee or tea. I guess it’s time to put away my Lawyer’s badge
