Aww, that’s hella cute.

When Nat heroically saves you from getting chewed out by the mayor again.

Edit: Also, this is the only scenario where something is successfully baked and nothing is broken. Bravo, Nat. You truly are the only responsible one.

She laughs, the sound of it filling the kitchen with its cheer and seeming to make the sunshine glow that bit brighter.

[HEAVY BREATHING]

My breath stutters to a stop as she swipes her thumb slowly and purposefully over the corner of my lips.

ME:

I wasn’t this gay before, I swear!!!

Too bad it’s not Suavewell though. XD

EXCUSE ME???

My breath stutters to a stop as she swipes her thumb slowly and purposefully over the corner of my lips.

This was an open attempt on my life by Sauvewell!!!

Omg, I needed that so much before sleeping. No way I’m having nightmares tonight.
Nat is so sweet, almost if she’s made of sugar and if I touch her she’ll break.

my mc would feel somewhat trashy after that. “I NEED TO RELY ON HER EVEN TO MAKE A CAKE GODDAMIT, I GUESS I’LL JUST GIVE MY BADGE TO HER”

:woman_shrugging: Am I that dense?? XD

I dunno… Hahaha It just feel like Sweetwell though…

It was both. If you didn’t notice the Suavewell, that speaks to the suaveness of it.

her long eyelashes beating against her cheek as she winks at me.

This was a premeditated murder…

The cake was only an excuse to make a pass at the Detective.
Sauvewell is legit eight steps ahead, Charlotte (and also me) cannot survive that kind of foresight.

I guess so… Hahahaha I just feel the sweetness or maybe because I got use to the thumb across the cheek situation…XD

Edit 1: Maybe it’s just me but I am having a hard time switching the scenario with Nate for some reason. Or I better read this again if I am fully awake

Edit 2: So now it’s all done, which one is your favorite??

Mason, Farah, Nat and Adam (I am sorry Adam but I still love you)

In order of best to least best:
Nat, because she is a Real Adult™ and actually created food.
Farah, because I have an inexplicable love for her and she can do no wrong (even though she broke 1 bowl and probably the detective too)
Adam, because he tries to be helpful (but cupcakes??? shouldn’t??? make that sound??? Detective, what did you put in there?)
Mason, because almost wrecking a perfectly good pie is a felony.

well this was fun. I filled it out mostly as my MC was at the start of the book, so I’d like to think she grew and some of the questions would’ve been different afterwards.

Caithe

1. What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?
Probably about an hour or two. She’s used to being alone with her thoughts.
2. How easy is it for your character to laugh?
Genuinely laughing at something funny isn’t something she does much, but she’ll laugh in resignation or defeat when she feels that way
3. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)
She passes out. Beds are comfortable and nice.
4. How easy is it to earn their trust?
Fairly difficult, given her history of having to live independently due to her mother’s absences, and Bobby’s betrayal of her friendship when she trusted them
5. How easy is it to earn their mistrust?
She already distrusts you. It’s not hateful or malicious. She’s just learned to depend on herself, so it’s safer to assume you won’t hold up your end and plan accordingly
6. Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable?
Caithe’s probably somewhere in the middle. Laws are there to keep order, so they should be followed until they impede that. At that point it becomes redundant
7. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
Music and books. She spend a lot of time alone as a kid, so got really into them. Not all books and music trigger nostalgia, but there are some memories tied to certain tunes or books. How she enjoys it depends on what she’s remembering
8. What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child?
Staying up waaay too late reading. You have school tomorrow Caithe, you have to be up in 4 hours!
9. Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
Sparingly. But oh, when she does, the curses do flow. She has no idea what her first swear was. She probably read it somewhere.
10. What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
She didn’t spend the whole holiday break alone doing nothing. She was out being productive and social with friends and family. Really.
11. How do they cope with confusion?
She figures it out. If she can’t count on herself to figure this out, when who can she count on?
12. How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?
Ignore it and hope it goes away. And when it doesn’t, pretend it never bothered her anyway. Really, she’s fine.
13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?
Black and earth tones. They go with everything. She’d probably look great in something bright, but we’ll probably never find out for sure.
14. What animal do they fear most?
Anything that carries disease. Or is poisonous. Or sucks blood. Do vampires carry diseases like mosquitoes do?
15. How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?
Caithe speaks fairly reservedly. She’s a quiet person, and doesn’t usually say more than she feels people need her to. She’s generally pretty averse to confrontation, so she doesn’t say anything she thinks will provoke someone, so long as they don’t give her reason to.
16. What makes their stomach turn?
Pretty much any bodily fluid, which is why she can’t stand animals that transmit disease or inject anything into you. She’s is NOT good with needles. Good thing there are no murderers running around looking to inject her with anything
17. Are they easily embarrassed?
Absolutely. Though she does everything she can to hide it and avoid those situations. That cute person over there? She’s never heard of them. Not once. She was too busy working.
18. What embarrasses them?
Being caught unprepared. She’s supposed to be self reliant. So why can’t she think of what to say right now? It doesn’t matter. She should be working
19. What is their favorite number?
Gonna be honest here. I got nothin for this one.6?
20. If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?
Caithe would sour. Her mother never showed her familial love. How should she know?
21. Why do they get up in the morning?
She has to get up? Oh… I guess she does… but the bed is so nice and cozy… Why does she get up in the morning? I guess she has a job or something
22. How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?
She kills the feelings. She can’t be jealous if she never had feelings in the first place. Right? Right?
23. How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)?
Caithe doesn’t like reminders of how lonely she was as a kid. She’d probably just stew in it thinking passive aggressive thoughts.
24. Is sex something that they’re comfortable speaking about? To whom?
Caithe’s comfortable with it, if a little detached. It’s a thing people do that feels nice, right? She doesn’t quite understand the emotional part of it. She’s never had a chance to learn that yet.
25. What are their thoughts on marriage?
Pretty much the same as for sex. She understands it, but in a detached uninvolved sense.
26. What is their preferred mode of transportation?
Walking. Why does she need to drive? Wayhaven is small anyway, she’ll be fine.
27. What causes them to feel dread?
Things she can’t figure out. Caithe has to be prepared. What’s she going to do if she’s not? If she can’t rely on herself, who can she rely on?
28. Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?
No. Not ever.
29. Do they usually live up to their own ideals?
Caithe usually lives up to her ideals. It bothers her endlessly when she doens’t though
30. Who do they most regret meeting?
Bobby. She trusted them.
31. Who are they the most glad to have met?
Tina. Tina’s one of the only dependable people she’s met in her life, even if she isn’t as punctual as Caithe would like her to be.
32. Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke?
I don’t know about a go to, but Caithe’s humor is mostly self detrimental. She wouldn’t admit it, but it helps her to deal with how let down she feels when she doesn’t meet her own expectations.
33. Could they be considered lazy?
Caithe probably appears lazy to the outside observer. She spends a lot of time in her own head, so her sitting and thinking could be taken as lazyness.
34. How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?
Caithe holds herself tightly to her sense of independence. That means if something goes wrong, she’s more than likely to blame herself for not seeing it coming and working around it. If something goes wrong, she’s to blame. It’s her fault for not seeing this coming
35. How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?
Caith would be supportive, so long as she doesn’t have to enter into a situation she didn’t plan for. Will she go to a concert with you in a week? Sure, she might not enjoy it, but if you’re her friend she cares enough about you to do it for you. But can she do it tomorrow? No. She wouldn’t have time to prepare.
36. Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?
Caithe doesn’t trust people enough to open up to them romantically. Even if she won’t admit she really wants to She doesn’t need a partner. She’s fine on her own
37. Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?
ALL OF THE LISTS.
38. What memory do they revisit the most often?
Bobby and her’s friendship. Christ, she can’t believe she trusted them. At least Bobby taught her why she needs to be truly independent
39. How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people?
Hard. She needs to know your flaws so she can plan accordingly.
40. How sensitive are they to their own flaws?
I think this one’s been pretty clearly answered by the prior questions :stuck_out_tongue:. But to answer succinctly, very.
41. How do they feel about children?
She’s not fond of them. They’re a contingency.
42. How badly do they want to reach their end goal?
I don’t think Caithe really has an end goal yet. Not until she meets Unit Bravo, at least. Though, when she finds it, she’ll pursue it with the same determination she does everything.
43. If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they do so?
Caithe would probably want to know why you want her to explain it to you. But if you must know, she prefers women. Now why are you asking?

I make really angsty characters I guess. I like seeing them grow through the story.

ALSO, hot damn Sera released the Nat short while I took like an hour typing this.

And good lord it is spicy

    • everything about that short was gold, especially Nate bursting in to keep things PG—“LEAVE ROOM FOR JESUS”
  2. Nat
    • left me shooketh
  3. Farah
    • -10 points for being unhygenic (jkjk, Nat just…leaves me a-quiverin’)
  4. Adam
    • we all know that Adam probably set fire to the kitchen after the end, destroying all chocolate in the apartment—I cannot forgive that

That’s why Nate’s here–to babysit his friends and keep it PG-13.

Nah… That’s for actually wrecking the pie.

EDIT: I managed to quote the wrong post. And then mispell quote.

Rin
  1. What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?
She doesn’t like sitting still, if she has nothing to do then she will fine something to do. If its not work then its chores, if its not chores then she’ll go jogging or go to the gym. She can’t just not do anything.

  2. How easy is it for your character to laugh?
Very hard, she doesn’t laugh very often (RIP, Felix). She has a weird sense of humor so when she does find something funny she will laugh HARD.

  3. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)
Rin likes to listen to music before she goes to sleep, maybe read something.

  4. How easy is it to earn their trust?
Not easy at ALL. She is very skeptical of people, but she’s more trusting of people who are bluntly honest.

  5. How easy is it to earn their mistrust?
Easier than make A angry lol

  6. Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable?
She considers laws to be immovable, but that doesn’t mean they are always right.

  7. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
She’s pretty sensitive to certain smells (old book smell, Rebecca’s perfume, stuff like that) she does enjoy it when the feeling strikes her but she doesn’t go out of her way to feel it.

  8. What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child?
Probably to stop scaring the other kids in the neighborhood. Rebecca probably tried to get her to watch more age appropriate shows (violet samurai movies are NOT appropriate for 8 year olds!)

  9. Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
Very rarely, her first was probably “damn.”

  10. What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
Rin doesn’t lie very often so it was probably something silly. She probably figured out the tooth fairy was just Rebecca but pretended to still believe so that she would still do the little ritual.

  11. How do they cope with confusion?
She doesn’t. Confusion makes her mad and when she’s mad she forces herself to deal with it.

  12. How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?
    SUFFER.

  13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?
She doesn’t think about that very often, maybe dark greens? And yes she does!

  14. What animal do they fear most?
Perhaps geese? Those things are MEAN!

  15. How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?
She doesn’t talk very often so she normally like to think through what she says before she says it.

  16. What makes their stomach turn?
In disgust then ridiculously sweet sweets. In fear… heights. She hate heights.

  17. Are they easily embarrassed?
    Yes.

  18. What embarrasses them?
Her fear of heights, being put on the spot in front of a lot of people, anything that makes her look weak or silly.

  19. What is their favorite number?
    7

  20. If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?
If you love them because of their faults, its romantic, if you love them despite their faults, its familial, if it’s a mix of both is platonic.

  21. Why do they get up in the morning?
To work and contribute to the world around her.

  22. How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?
    She becomes aloof and distant.

  23. How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)?
It depends, but maybe a little bit of resentment but she will try to either hide or deal with it.

  24. Is sex something that they’re comfortable speaking about? To whom?
She’s very comfortable talking about sex but mostly with really close friends (Tina) or her partner.

  25. What are their thoughts on marriage?
She doesn’t think she’ll ever really find someone she’d want to get married to (she is wrong, Felix is her perfect partner) but its certainly got an appeal.

  26. What is their preferred mode of transportation?
Anything she she’s driving, she doesn’t like letting other people drive.

  27. What causes them to feel dread?
    HEIGHTS.

  28. Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?
No, the truth is always better… but avoiding the unpleasant truth is always a viable option!

  29. Do they usually live up to their own ideals?
For the most part, yes… Unless it has to deal with FEELS.

  30. Who do they most regret meeting?
    Bobby.

  31. Who are they the most glad to have met?
Felix Ah, well, shes great friends with Tina!

  32. Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke?
Not really, her default is not to talk at all.

  33. Could they be considered lazy?
    Oh, no, not at all.

  34. How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?
Very. She takes her own failings very hard.

  35. How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?
She’s very supportive in her own, quiet way. Mostly just quietly listening and asking polite questions.

  36. Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?
She doesn’t actively seek romance because of her fear of rejection

  37. Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?
She likes to write things down if shes worried about forgetting it, on her phone or on her hand if she has to.

  38. What memory do they revisit the most often?
When her first crush rejected her feelings… Oh, you know, the same thing most people thing about. First time she saw her favorite movies, staying up late for the first time with her friends, normal stuff…

  39. How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people?
Depends on how much the flaw affects her. Something like Bobby’s pushiness or Douglas’ short attention span annoy her but if its something that doesn’t affect her she can ignore it.

  40. How sensitive are they to their own flaws?
    Very.

  41. How do they feel about children?
They’re, like, little drunk people. Some are okay.

  42. How badly do they want to reach their end goal?
Very. One day she will be the police chief and Wayhaven will be so damn protected that they won’t even KNOW what to do!!

  43. If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they do so?
She often finds she’s more attracted to men, but she’s not against dating anyone if they have traits she finds attractive (boldness, confidence, not being scared of her, reliability, knowing what they want)

Samir
  1. What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?
Samir is a bit of a busy-body so not a whole lot of time. Though during a rainy day he might make a hot drink, sit back, and just listen to the rain.

  2. How easy is it for your character to laugh?
Honestly, not that easy. He has a good sense of humor but its hard to get him to do more than chuckle or giggle.

  3. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)
Right before bed is the PERFECT time to get some video games in! He likes to snuggle in, get out some kind of hand held device, and play something. He tries to pick more relaxing games (something like Animal Crossing) because he is known to stay up way too late because he got way into whatever game he was playing… He still does it anyway.

  4. How easy is it to earn their trust?
VERY easy. When Samir enters something where you need to trust the other person than that person has his absolute trust.

  5. How easy is it to earn their mistrust?
Not as easy as gaining it but still pretty easy.

  6. Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable?
Laws are not perfect, so while they themselves might be immovable how they apply to real life needs to be looked at on a case-by-case base.

  7. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
Probably the games he played and the movies he watched. Nothing hits him harder than his favorite game’s music soundtracks.

  8. What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child?
To put the GAMES DOWN and EAT HIS DINNER, YOUNG MAN. The Pokemans will still be there when hes done!

  9. Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
He’s a bit liberal with his vocabulary outside of work, though he tries not to often. He doesn’t but it was probably him quoting a movie when he was little. Rebecca was not happy.

  10. What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
“Yes, Nanny, my mom lets me stay up this late all the time!”

  11. How do they cope with confusion?
Probably try to get someone to help him with whatever is confusing.

  12. How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?
Get someone to scratch it for him or use the corner of some piece of furniture to scratch it if he’s desperate.

  13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?
Cooler colors, like blues, and yes he does!

  14. What animal do they fear most?
Samir doesn’t really fear animals but he is rightfully cautious of wild animals.

  15. How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?
A mix of both, but leans more towards not thinking before he talks.

  16. What makes their stomach turn?
    Mushrooms….

  17. Are they easily embarrassed?
YES. He easily gets flustered and overwhelmed.

  18. What embarrasses them?
Guys being really forward with him. Mason People looking down on him and his accomplishments Adam

  19. What is their favorite number?
    3

  20. If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?
“The only difference is if you want to kiss them and what kind of kissing you want to do.”

  21. Why do they get up in the morning?
To do his job, to make the world (or at least the town) a better place, to see the people he cares about.

  22. How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?
Jealousy is, in Samir’s opinion, one of the worst feelings in the world so he tries to ignore it… but it might make him a little bit more snippy than normal.

  23. How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)?
Similarly to jealousy it’s a feeling that Samir hates it but unlike jealously he can try to work through envy. He wishes he had something? He tries to get something just as good. He can’t? He appreciates what he does have instead.

  24. Is sex something that they’re comfortable speaking about? To whom?
As a concept hes okay with talking about it (like to his doctor, or to his close friends). Talking about actually having it with someone… Oh. Geeze. Oh no. Now he’s a flustered mess.

  25. What are their thoughts on marriage?
He’d like to get married one day, if he found the right person.

  26. What is their preferred mode of transportation?
Flying He doesn’t really have one, whatever gets him from place to place.

  27. What causes them to feel dread?
Doctor’s appointments. When he can’t find something he lost, even if its not important. Bobby

  28. Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?
If it’s a small thing then he doesn’t mind it but for the most part he prefers the truth.

  29. Do they usually live up to their own ideals?
He pushes himself to live to his ideals and always feels awful if he doesn’t live up to them.

  30. Who do they most regret meeting?
Oh, geeze, probably the vampire that almost killed him and turned him into some kind of magnet for every crazy supernatural ever.

  31. Who are they the most glad to have met?
Tina, Verda, his friends, Unit Bravo expect Mason but also especially Mason

  32. Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke?
He’s careful who he tells it to but there was the time he was DMing and accidentally killed all his players… in the first two minutes of the campaign. IN his defense they were the ones who didn’t check for traps!

  33. Could they be considered lazy?
He could stand to be lazier, tbh.

  34. How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?
Yes. He normally takes on a lot of responsibilities, including taking blame for things that weren’t really his fault, and he’s pretty hard on himself.

  35. How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?
He’s very supportive! Even if he doesn’t fully understand he will try to! If nothing else then he will encourage them gush about whatever they’re excited about because even if he doesn’t understand it or care about the thing itself its great to see his friends so excited!

  36. Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?
He prefers to be the pursued and not the pursuer, but he does like to date and meet new people.

  37. Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?
He will repeat it over and over to himself till he remembers it (it doesn’t always work…)

  38. What memory do they revisit the most often?
Probably any memories of him and his mother getting to spend time together. (Rebecca helping him face his fear of roller coasters)

  39. How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people?
Samir is pretty forgiving of other people (way more than he is towards himself) so its pretty easy for him to ignore other’s flaws.

  40. How sensitive are they to their own flaws?
HE WILL NOT REST UNTIL HE KILLS ALL HIS FLAWS.

  41. How do they feel about children?
He loves children! He’s pretty good with them too, probably would’ve been a elementary teacher if he didn’t go into the Police force.

  42. How badly do they want to reach their end goal?
    BADLY.

  43. If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they do so?
    “Hella gay” – Samir, 2018

ExcUSE ME. Did I read this right? Did you just classify Mason as the least best one?

No pie holds a candle to his smooth criminal moves. I pride myself as a pacifist, Hannah, but I will not back down from such an insult.

Ohh boy, Suavewell came in guns blazing. Will N ever rest until they’ve conquered all the hearts in the world? A question for the ages.

Also, @rose-court, Charlotte is so sweet :sob:. I mean, her first swear word was at twelve. That’s so damn precious. How will she keep that adorable innocence through all seven books? My MC wants to wrap her in a blanket and protect her like a big sister from all the evils of the world.
