Iā€™m with @Arcane_warrior on this, why would I expect any kind of mercy from theses guys, better to not get taken alive or to try to flee than just surrender at that point. The fact that we learn afterward that they kill every stranger on their land and we are just the lucky exception does point out that surrending to them is a pretty bad idea.

because if you donā€™t get mercy, youā€™re dead anyway, fleeing doesnā€™t work as an option when they are right in front of you / around you and you are in hostile territory and not being taken alive just mean youā€™re dead, which is what you want to avoid

nope, it doesnā€™t change that surrendering give you a chance while every other option is 100% assured death plus a good 80% chance of that death being horribly painful, making surrendering the only non insane option, every other option isnā€™t just bad, it is direct suicide unless you are a goddamn hack and slash protag
