perhaps it could be inserted as a bug in the system, which caused us to start with infinite points or an op ability.
Oh, this reminded me of the Crosscode game, where if you started a new game plus with an already leveled up character or with the “Sergei cheat” the NPCs reacted to your absurd damage. It would be funny if the characters reacted to the very strong protagonist in this story.
@Robert_Shsg Author make this as some sort of RPG style choice game, with class and stat screen in the story, need to be more specific about what “Cheat” You want here, like is it stats cheat? Or dialogue check cheat like what certain dialogue affects stats?
As for the stats cheat the game largely about dungeon dwelling from how the Author reveal it, there is also no game over even if you’re defeated in the dungeon and since the story is about from zero to hero cheat stats probably trivialize the game too much, because well you suddenly become the strongest, EXP cheat probably better like have more exp per kill, it’s make the grind easier but not outright break the game, you as player also still experience level progression that way.
I was kinda neutral on this demo, I like the concept and all but nothing really got me to chuckle until I had to chase that dam shy boy lol. That got me. Like that meme I can’t share on mobile of a woman slowly chasing a kid
If so wouldn’t be a cool idea that you could either get a unique skill from them as a pick that match your archetype or have them help you awaken more inside you during the battle with them where you could get something wicked like how in the anime shield hero there is the cursed shield series and his friends and love interests pull him out of that state
Idk if this story is still alive (I hope it is cuz I love tropey stuff), but I have some feedback on culture/language stuff.
he/him/kun, she/her/chan, they/them/san
Honorifics are based on familiarity and status, not gender. I’d personally remove the kun, chan, and san from the gender options. You can’t pick your honorifics, they’re constantly changing. You could be called “-chan” by your parents at home, “-kun” by your teachers/peers at school/work, and then “-san” by the cashier when you go grocery shopping.
few onigiris there, which are rice dumplings, neatly wrapped in plastic
IMO onigiri is better translated as “rice ball” or “rice triangle.” Dango is often translated as “rice dumpling” so it may be confusing.
Huh I thought dango was just some kind of sweet
Sweet probably because how it taste, but it’s not sweet it’s a snack.
The story is still alive don’t worry! Gab is currently working on some of the more technical mechanics of the game that we will see in the upcoming chapters, with the help of patreon members, which is taking along time. However I feel like he’s somewhat close to being done, but I can’t say how close yet.
is there a walkthrough on this? i like to see how to get my desired results or how to encounter people
There is a path chart that he made you can find the link the the attachment for it at the end of this public patreon post:
thank you
Hey, everyone!
Sorry for the long silence! I ended up focusing a lot on Patreon and neglected to update you all, my bad.
The demo is currently around 110K words, including code. Excluding the code… the demo has only 83K words, in other words, just 14K new words that can be read in the game.
Yes, out of the more than 35K new words, over 20K is purely code. For those who don’t know, for a game written in CScript, that’s an absurd amount of code.
I’ve already made a post here explaining about this, which is pinned in the main post! Take a look if you haven’t seen it yet.
This month, besides programming new things, I also gathered feedback from the folks on Patreon and made changes and improvements. Remember that Dungeons and Battles are very important for the game, so I have to pay a lot of attention to that.
I still think things aren’t in their best versions yet, but we’ll keep working on it over time! I’m close to finishing things to release the first version of the demo for Battles and Dungeons to you all.
I think it’s better to split it into two parts to make it easier to organize, and of course, to avoid leaving you without anything for too long. The first update for Dungeons and Battles will only include the random versions of them, and the second update will focus on the story.
I’m terrible with dates, as you all know, but I believe that if it’s not ready this week, it will definitely be ready by the next.
(I’m tired of writing code and calculations and codes and calculations and numbers and loops and codes and more numbers and-- you get it! I don’t want to code anymore!!! Please I just want to write the story!!!)
Sure, I’ll add that!
I’m going to alleviate these kind of things to give you greater freedom of customization (If I don’t do this, how will you achieve those extraordinary looks that your character wears during their best moments?)
It’s actually in the plans!! Go to the barber or buy cool clothes too
They’re already 18 years old and will turn 19 this year! So, they’re not that young anymore.
Well, the main characters won’t grow beards (except for Ryota, of course), but that doesn’t stop yours from having one. (Of course, it’s different for people from different regions of the world, but I found your comment funny 'cause I, for example, was already growing a beard at 15 haha)

There will be special dialogues and scenes for each difficulty level! They won’t impact the story, of course, but they will exist.
Oh, and there will be a New Game+ for sure!! (with more exclusive scenes and dialogues! I have big plans for that)
I won’t pretend to be a great expert or super fan on Japanese culture, and I really ain’t. Everything I’m writing is based on what I consume + the research I did while writing. So, if there are mistakes in what I wrote, I apologize!
From what I understood from my research, -kun is more commonly used among boys, -chan is more commonly used for close girls or very close people in general, and -san is commonly used to demonstrate respect. If there’s any mistake in what I said, please correct me! The more I understand, the better I’ll write it!
Since one of the game’s goals is to make you feel like you’re part of an anime, one of my concerns is having the characters use honorifics with you… if possible, I’d like to use them correctly haha
Noted!
Please end my pain
The funny thing is that if CScript had a better list function + loop, the code would be much smaller and faster to write xD but oh well, I like challenges I guess
Bloody Hell that Code… someone has some masochist tendencies lmao.
I suppose my chance of existence was low, then. I had a pretty full beard before I turned 19 (though it isn’t quite my current lumberjack beard).
Guess I phrased it wrong, I didn’t mean to say no one grows beards young(I also started growing full beard 15-16) and people from different places grow at different rates. What I meant was that let’s be honest when we first grow it, it’s not good, it’s probably a bit patchy or still too thin, etc.
Like when mine first started growing, I left it alone at first thinking that’s how it would grow and it was bad. It took shaving a couple of times before it started looking good.
I’m sorry we’re going to die in the season finale?

This is kind of a “yesn’t” situation. Honorifics are status/vibe dependent and cultural context is so complicated that a lot of educational materials will explain it that way for simplicity, even when it’s not entirely accurate. In terms of formality and status, going from least to most formal, it’d be chan > kun > san > dono (in modern life this is for memes, jokes, or like historical dramas) > sama. In terms of grammar rules, these work regardless of gender…except due to societal shenanigans, gender ties into “who do you consider above/below you.” I’m not gonna get into all that though lmao.
The chan/kun gender divide is more of a little kid thing. For instance, in a lot of schools, kids are encouraged to start using -san around the 5th or 6th grade. Prolly more context than you need, but sometimes male teachers will even refer to girls as san and boys as kun, while female teachers might refer to girls as chan and boys as san.
As you get older, and especially in middle/high school, more teachers will start calling all students -san. But again, this is all flexible based on context. For instance, my Japanese teacher started calling me -kun instead of -san, once I had her 3 years in a row. Your coach might call you -kun, while your math teacher might call you -san. Some schools will even do -kun for boys and -san for girls for 7th and 8th, then do -san for everyone in 9th, but this is way too much detail for this explanation already and I am failing to keep this short.
Someone in a service role will always refer to you as -san or -sama, regardless of your gender. Ex: cashiers call you okyaku-san/sama, which means customer-san/sama. Usually depends how fancy the place is (sama is more polite). It seems a bit funny, but even a child will be called -sama at a posh restaurant, for instance.
In a work situation, you might call people below you -kun, people equal or above you -san. People above you can also be called -senpai. Unless they’re your boss. Then you’d typically call them by their job title. This is of course assuming a traditional company structure, because again…context.
Not everyone follows those rules though. You could use this to showcase a character’s personality. A flirty character might call someone they don’t know by -chan, even when social rules dictate he should call them -san. A flippant character might drop honorifics for everybody, even when it’s not appropriate.
The quick rule (for adults) is: anyone you don’t have a relationship with is -san. Whether you call them something else is based on context (how do you know them: work, school, etc.) and how close you are. But again, everything is context dependent and this just grazes the surface.
My suggestion is still to remove honorifics from gender selection, and instead give players a chance to pick their honorific once they have a certain % of affinity with a character.
Personally, I think it’s more cute if characters have different ones for players. Ex: A cutesy or tbh annoying character might call MC -tan, -pon, or something equally cringey. A more proper character might switch to First name-san instead of Last name-san.
You could even do a scene indicating the change where the character asks, “Can I call you MC-pon?” And then have a menu come up that allows the player to agree or change it.
This might be way too much work though, in which case -san for everybody works for the high school or older level, and avoids too many coding variables.
(I meant to keep this short, but it’s impossible. )
Well as long as you try hard enough, then I’m sure your mc will not face their untimely demise at the end, after all the new objective is to not die.
