Hm~ To be fair, Katsuo is friendly with fem MC. Only with fem MC. He’s even flirty! Plus he can pay for our game! ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟ The only reason why we can’t go and hang out with him more is Sakura. Unless we change her mind with our impressive gaming skills of course
for my Mmc in the harem route, I’m going to make him dominate everyone, Kazu might of been the original one but my character is going to be the one to come out on top
Hello everyone!
As mentioned before, I decided to look into creating a Patreon to help pay the bills - and I did it! It’s now available for those who are interested.
I tried to make something fair and interesting, but for now, the benefits are quite humble. I hope to improve and increase the benefits over time!
And for those who aren’t interested or aren’t able to support through Patreon, don’t worry! I’ll continue to pay attention to everyone’s comments, and all the content released on Patreon will eventually be released to everyone as well. The major difference now is that I’ll avoid answering many questions here and won’t provide as much detail, as I’ll save that for Patreon, and next Updates will release sooner for some Patreons.
I wish I could present more content to you all before accepting any financial help, but receiving a few bucks would really help my situation.
Thanks for the support from all of you!
Here is the Patreon page: Gabriel Cometa | Creating an Interactive Story Driven Game | Patreon
Oh, I also created a Discord server! Swing by to chat!
Fixed! Thanks!!
Yup, totally possible!
Yess that’s why I made a note sheet so I could track myself in the writing haha
I don’t like using AI and don’t intend to for the game, but feel free to use and share. Your character looks really cute!
I didn’t think about Natsuki even once while creating Usui Usagi, but now that you’ve mentioned it, maybe I was inspired by her a little without realizing! Natsuki is probably one of my favorite characters from all the works I’ve played/read!
I mean,
probably?
If in my head they all have anime appearances, then the MC probably sees them and themselves like that too!
Yup all of that is right!
In the next update, if you end up not walking together with anyone, you have the option to completely skip the festival.
Yes pretty much!
You are in for a surprise in the next update
Great Idea! I will add this for sure in the next update!
Sure! I will add this too! xD
I’m glad you noticed! I’ve written several dialogues and even resolutions that vary based on who your character is, but I prefer to let you discover them rather than me telling you what and where they are!
I remember an ask that said if we could romance all the ROs and you said yes, so how is that going to work exactly?
In the comments above, it was mentioned that the MC can be yandere. Is this something we can do or will it not be added? I just don’t remember you answering that question.(Maybe I just missed it)
Will sword aura be a thing
For balance, you may take inspiration from the generic scale in the fanmade dnd detect balance Excel, where:
A ribbon, not likely to make much difference: 1
A sometimes useful feature: 2
A frequently useful or powerful feature: 4
An unusually powerful feature: 8
Where the descriptions measure the frequency with which the feature will be useful in relation to the narrative’s context, how impactful and effective the feature is when it is useful, and how difficult it is to progress in the narrative without it, and the number is a measure of how much the feature is worth in relation to a maximum of 25 to 30 as a sum of the numeric values of the selected features considering their description.
About Choices:
We may agree that choices add variability to some extent, variability that is usually expressed in the script (numeric values, words, symbols, etc.) and is present in:
1.- The choice itself.
2.- The immediate aftermath of selecting a choice.
3.- The long-term aftermath of selecting a choice.
4.- The aftermath of the result of the interaction between the values assigned to the selected choices during the story (like stats of any type).
We may agree that a choice stands as different from another as long as it is differentiable from the choice being compared to by at least one of the four points’ criteria. The sample:
A) I nod to Kawabata, he saved me here. Silently, I let them settle it out.
B) “I can pay the lunch.” I comply.
C) “I can pay the lunch.” I begrudgingly comply and express it.
D) “I can pay the lunch.” I begrudgingly comply, but I won’t express it.
From the sample, it can be assumed that the following relations (R) exist:
R1. Four out of four choices share the commonality of being differentiable by point 1’s criteria.
R2. “A” is differentiable from the rest by points 2 and 3’s criteria.
R3. “B”, “C”, and “D” share the commonality of being undifferentiable by point 3’s criteria.
R4: “B” and “D” share the commonality of being undifferentiable by point 2’s criteria.
R5. “C” is differentiable from the rest by point 2’s criteria.
So, at risk of over-inferring, adding choices that are different from the rest by point 1’s criteria for role-play purposes doesn’t guarantee them being perceivable different from their peers by even at least one of the other points’ criteria, as seen in the relation between “B” and “D”, as there doesn’t seem to exist a causation between being different by point 1’s criteria and being different by the other points’ criteria. Adding another choice while maintaining the regularity inferred above will change the ratio in the following way: instead of three out of four choices being different from one another by at least two points’ criteria, that is, 1 and 2, there will be three out of five, which may not be so ideal if the goal is for the majority of the choices to seem different from one another… Does having glasses mean the MC will be able to do a Velma impersonation?
But these choices are different. If we choose to begrudgingly accept paying for Usui’s lunch while we remain friendly, we will receive flavor text of choice “C” and receive benefits of being friendly. Plus it’s a pretty neat choice for roleplay… I also lowkey feel you kind of subtly comment my idea to add another choice to this scene ( • ᴖ • 。 )
I don’t see why every choice must be unique in one way or another. People love choices and they love roleplaying. Even if the choice doesn’t differ from others much, but it suits their character more, they’ll happily pick it.
Example:
- “Yes!”
- You nod.
These two choices don’t differ from each other, they lead to the same consequences and the same flavor text and scenes. And yet it will make roleplaying as your character easier. People who want their character to be more outspoken will choose the first choice and people who prefer to roleplay as a more silent character will choose the second choice.
plus making every singular choice being a different branching path would be a nightmare to make for the dev
I like the story so far. It’s simple and fun plus you’ve given us a lot of different dialogue choices which is nice. Looking forward to future updates! ^^
Likes: New content, new introductions to characters and how the world around us works, the character seems lively and have a lot of things to say. I like it how we can replay it with different setup each time to see the outcome. The choice to go explore and see each area is really good since we could potentially make new friends. Love the idea of choosing between being a total good guy that gets around with everyone like Kazuki, a jerk that annoys and make everyone uncomfortable like Katsuo or the observing type of guy that stand afar and watch everything unfolds and manipulate everyone to do as they like . Also, HIROMI. (yes, hiromi)
Dislikes: Some of the paragraphs seem to be…repeated. The idea was repeated and rephrase for 2 3 times in a single page so, you might need to check that out. Also, some of the text seems to be…mechanic? Idk how to explain it but it seems like A.I generated (no offense), I can teel since I also did use A.I a few times to write stuff. Oh and the characters description might need some changes since it’s kinda complicated (some can be shy but outgoing, some can be empathy toward the lesser but still hates them, some can be apathetic toward everyone but still have a soft side for us? it’s kinda weird and conflicted) and most of the characters are introverts…? (might need to update the character description to make it more lively and more like an anime since they too, have friends other than us and it’s better to have different personalities right?)
It’s going to be something laborious to do but not really difficult. You can date any of the ROs, and if you manage to convince them to be in a poly relationship, more people can join. However, all the ROs will only be romantic with you unless you yourself incite romance between them. It’s a little complicated to explain now, it would be better to see it in action.
I would like to add this option, but I believe it would be a lot of work. Still, I want to add it. Let’s see if it’s feasible over time!
Kind of!
I actually found this very helpful! I will definitely use it as inspiration, thank you! I admit that using existing systems as a base helps a lot xD
I really like the idea of having choices for pure roleplay, even if some are “useless” mechanically. I believe that since it’s a story, the reader’s perception matters most! However, I also understand your point, and that’s why in some choices I try to at least change a sentence, a word, etc., on the next page to try to justify it.
I think the same!
I admit I laughed at this! But funny enough, the glasses will actually have more importance later on at specific points in the story.
I’m impressed how everyone likes Hiromi so much right from the start xD I didn’t expect so much favoritism, especially since with the available content now, she barely appears.
That’s a big problem that I plan to solve with the revision! I myself have a habit of repeating things while writing, and in this game, it doubled the occurrence!
Since I structure the game’s code in a way that saves as many words as possible (for example, using the same line of code in scene X and scene Y to save space and reduce the total word count), I end up connecting some codes that repeat some idea that has already been told. I pay a lot of attention to this, but with so much text, I sometimes get lost…
If you find something repeated, please let me know where!!!
I have been using AI, yes, but wait, not in the way you’re thinking!
Initially, I used to write the story in Portuguese (my native language) and then manually translate it into English because it’s much easier for me to imagine and write a text in my language. The problem is that it’s a lot of work, practically writing the same thing twice. So I abandoned that tactic and decided to write everything in English right away - the problem is that I feel like my writing becomes much emptier and more mechanical this way.
I also thought about writing in Portuguese and then translating the whole text into English with AI, but if I do that, I’ll never improve my literary writing in English. I spend so much time thinking about which words to use that it makes me a little sad (I even have a hard time answering you all because I try so hard to write everything in a “corret” way lol)
So I prefer to try in English and use AI when I feel that the result isn’t good enough yet.
As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I don’t plan to use AI to create character art, for example, because then I prefer to pay an artist for that - but I think using AI as a tool to help with something that already exist is fine. I mean, if you prefer me not to use it at all, I’ll stop using it though.
Ideally for me, I would pay a reviser not only to help me correct mistakes but also to improve my text, but unfortunately I can’t afford it at the moment
But again, if you guys think it would be better if I don’t use any AI tool, just say so! I don’t mind stopping using it; I’m more concerned about the quality of the text anyway.
So the poly option will be like a V poly
It would be a lot of work FOR SURE. There are so many types of yanderes (๑﹏๑//) They can be obsessive, controlling, possessive, delusional, overprotective, sadistic, lucid, worshipping, manipulative, soft or isolating. Oh, and how could I forget about submissive and clingy yanderes. GOOD LORD. You should decide on one type or else it’ll get too much… and I don’t think a yandere based on Yuno Gasai would work in this story… Just think of all the scenes you’ll have to add… you have 10 ROs in the story… and polyamory is possible… and there are different paths…
…Soft yandere MC would probably work the best on both ‘hero’ and ‘villain’ routes… Plus you won’t have to write toxic relationships if you’re not comfortable with them. ( • ̀ω•́ )✧
It may have something to do with her physical appearance.
You may lowkey feel that way because I wrote this → “adding choices that are different from the rest by point 1’s criteria”
To that you may add this fact → The last comment referring explicitly to the notion of “Adding a choice” happens to be under your name. Adding to the coincidence, the choice suggested in said comment is differentiable by point 1’s criteria while standing as undifferentiable by points 2 and 3’s criteria in relation to “B” and “D,” making its addition, the third choice out of five choices being only differentiable by one point’s criteria, all of this discussed in the comment under my name. Without the contents of the comment under your name being explicitly quoted, one’s reasoning over only the identified coincidences can result in the plausible notion that the comment under my name is a consequence of the comment under your name, instead of the two of them just being correlated.
Now, we may agree that it is impolite to bring the counterargument of the argument of a person who is present, to a neutral party without notifying them of the existence of a disagreement. Because, the person is then, more likely to either initiate with delay to defend their argument or not initiate at all due to them not being notified, thus leaving the debate biased in favor of the offense in relation to the defense, as in case one, the neutral party is left to draw their own conclusions from the counterargument in contrast to the argument. The counterargument, as a reaction count with the offense reasoning in consideration of the defense resulting reasoning, which is more than the defense initial argument have in consideration. Without the source of the argument being there to defend their thesis, the following debate between the neutral party and offense risks deviating from the origin of the disagreement which is founded in the relation between both the offense and defense’s thesis. In case two, the disadvantage hinges in the delay, which usually translates in the time the defense has to prepare.
Now interpreting my intent as “to add another choice to this scene” bamboodobeliupatterfluffles me. While plausible, if believed to be an objectively truthful and realistically accurate explanation of what that sequence of letters I just clicked is supposed to convey, I’d argue it, along with the conjecture of the comment under my name being interpreted as intended as a counterargument to the argument under your thesis, as a confirmation bias founded over the uncharitable framing of my actions over a reasoning that is below rather than beyond reasonable doubt, as correlation doesn’t mean causation.
Now I don’t know what this “( • ᴖ • 。 )” means dictionary-wise, but my inner empath tells me it is 100% a slur and that you’re likening me to an overfed capybara, which is a trigger word for me. Should I be concerned?
In conclusion, you only want the child back, but for your information, you can’t have it, not because I ate it (ew), but because we’re now surgically fused. That’s right, you undo the surgery, and one of us dies! The ultimate parent move! So you better keep that child support going!
So… after that explosive verborrheic episode, I’d say, brown tongue and everything, that I agree with you. Maybe is this in which the disagreement lays?
“Without causation, the differentiability of a choice by point 1’s criteria doesn’t guarantee their differentiability by others’ points’ criteria. → Situation that doesn’t meet the standards given by the candidate for a goal consisting of making the numerical majority of the choices different from one another by at least two out of the four points’ criteria.”
From what I’ve read, I infer that the reason underlying the disagreement is that an identifiable differentiability by point 1’s criteria is satisfying enough, and that making sure every choice is different from each other by more than one parameter would multiply the number of choices the author would have to work with. For that, I pull forth a probably unsatisfying work in progress of a solution for someone else to refine, as the intent can vary as much as someone’s intent can vary, which can be more than what it can be humanely reasonable to put into text. What about leaving the intent to the player’s imagination instead of explicitly wording it in the choice, thus reducing the author’s workload to only three choices: “I comply,” I don’t," and “I comply with an edge in my tone,” while allowing for multiple head-canon intents to prosper for less work? Or actually, a more reasonable counter-solution to my solution would be: “tldr”; equating the worth of adding, removing, or changing an innocuous choice to the price of writing a wall of text left for everyone unfortunate enough to lay their eyes on is an itsy bitsy absurd of a thing to do, kind of like stabbing a mosquito laying in your uncovered genitals with a 1000-degree knife.
Lord have mercy upon my text.
I am way too lazy to read this…
Am not reading all that am sorry
