The arrow symbol you were confused about is meant to show that you can pick a certain option without the scene progressing. Aka, you can ask or say something and get a little bit of extra content. I thought I added that to the section where you choose whether or not to include symbols, but I must have forgotten. I also haven’t gotten around to only include them if you choose to play the game with symbols displayed. Will do so later!
As for a poly option, I’m gonna treat it like a serious question haha. I adore poly routes and admire writers who take the time to include them. It’s a thought I’ve been playing with, but even if it did happen, Q and R sadly wouldn’t really be compatible in that way. R is pretty freaked out by Q and keeps their distance from them as much as possible and Q finds R’s attitude obnoxious. I could see a poly route working for some characters, but those two? Sadly not
As fun as poly route options would be, it’s not something I’m planning to do. The rewrite already has 7 ROs with upcoming jealousy scenes and a love triangle + romance paths that differ more or less depending on the character and how you interact with them (ex. you can have a hate-love romance with A or just go with the more shy or confident romance choices when interacting with them). If I ever was to write a poly romance I’d want to give it the attention it deserves, which is something I feel like I won’t be able to do right now

I’m really hoping the Shadowlady/man romance will create some funny and/or awkward interactions with the other Tenebris (like one of them being rude to us and us pulling the “don’t talk to your (step)mother/father/parent like that!” card.)
This was one of my first choice of games so happy for a remake and Q is always best boy in my opinion as someone who was once a selective mute due too drama in my younger years it was nice seeing a mute character keep up the great work can’t wait to see more
Since releasing the update at the end of July I’ve taken it a little easy with writing as to avoid burnout. Now that the Patreon short is finished, I plan to spend more time fixing some errors/bugs/mistakes present in chapter 2 + edit and polish certain parts, particularly the extra content available in the early access version.
The writing pace will probably change a little bit this or next month. Partly because I want to divide my focus between TSS and my other IF, which I really miss working on, and partly because summer is nearing its end and I’m not really in a position where I’m able to spend the majority of my time and focus on writing anymore (aka I need a job). I adore working on TSS again and it’s only getting more fun the more I write, so this isn’t in any way a case of me losing interest in the rewrite. I wasn’t sure how to juggle 2 IFs when starting the rewrite but knew I wanted to try. My other project means a lot to me; I don’t want to abandon it or leave it on hiatus for months or years, so I’ll just have to find a way to work on both.
According to a Patreon poll I held recently the majority of members prefer future early access releases to be complete, fully edited chapters instead of some thousand words at a time. This means that once chapter 2 is out, it’ll take a while until any new chapters or content is going to be released and available to the public. I’ve rushed things a little bit until now because I’ve wanted to show that I’m serious about the rewrite, but from now on I’m going to slow down and really take my time with it all.
I’m also thinking of adding a new Patreon tier which will contain NSFW content. I thought it’d be too early to do so at this point in the story and don’t want to go beyond what’s accessible in the main game, but I’ve got some scenarios in mind that I think would work even at this point in the story. Another piece of extra content, which wouldn’t be too time consuming to create, are lore info/tidbits. I haven’t really decided yet, though, so we’ll see what happens with all that.
It’s hard to predict how things are going to unfold in the near future, but I’ll keep you updated!

@GardeniaSpade Thank you for giving the rewrite a shot this version might end with some things still unresolved since I plan to write a sequel, but one of my goals is to NOT give a cliffhanger ending this time around hopefully it’ll feel complete on its own once you reach the ending!
Some time ago I held a poll on Tumblr asking who people would like to see a portrait of, and Azuridian got the majority of the votes. Here’s the final result I added a small snippet from chapter 2 along with the image because I like doing that kind of thing over at Tumblr whenever I post character portraits.

You feel your smile grow but do your best to suppress it. “A small diversion, huh?”
He mirrors your smile, though his is sharp at the edges. The allure that might otherwise have been inviting possesses malice that would make most people think twice, were they the target of that smile. “Yes. Perhaps you’ll prove an interesting enough one to keep my attention past our detour. We will see.”
Vince lets out a loud laughter at your comment, then covers his mouth when a few irritated stares are aimed his way.

I don’t always keep track of the stats screen, but I noticed that the personality section disappeared a little after the appearance section was filled out.
There’s once section where you can indicate what you’re wearing, but I think you were in bed before visiting the house? Sleeping in jeans isn’t too comfortable.
The writing was good. It was smooth and easy to follow.
I haven’t played the original game, so I’m offering this feedback as someone who’s completely new.
Thanks a lot for your feedback! You have a point there about the phone I can’t believe that part of this story has been out since 2018 and that never occurred to me. I’ll add an option to use its flashlight in the next update. And I’ll look into the misspellings/typos/errors as well!

I wonder… are we dealing with actual shadow monsters that take on human forms to assimilate better (kinda like a disguise), or are they simply humans with shadow traits?
It’s the former Their human forms are, as you said, practically disguises. Q is in a sort of category of their own, but all of them (except for M) could be considered shadow monsters. The Shadowman’s/Shadowlady’s hands and eyes are meant to hint a little bit at that.
One of the things I really want to do in the remake is to successively peel away the layers of how they present themselves and reveal what they truly are, which at least according to my plans is going to occur and be different depending on the character in question.
