More capable, maybe, but more willing? It wasn’t moral inhibitions that stopped you the first time, it was your fear of your mother’s terribleness and her past actions. I don’t see how practicing on random people who don’t have that terribleness and history with you would help. Dressing them up with your mom’s clothes wouldn’t do much for the jarring OOC-ness.
From a research standpoint, the first victim is always the most personal or meaningful. But in this case we actually seem to be doing the opposite in general. So…dunno.
Well of course this is all theoretical, but I see it as “help,” Think about it, the MC could get so numb to taking lives through repeatedly doing it that, eventually, his/her mother will be reduced, in their mind, to nothing more than just another victim. Not only that, but:
Precisely. By becoming more “terrible,” we become the worse monster. To the point where the MC sees themselves as 10x the threat she ever was to anyone.
I think the logic follows both of these things.
Not to mention the obvious third piece of possible logic: its fear that’s stopping us. So, by proving to ourselves that we can kill anyone, that fear will naturally dissipate as we witness ourselves growing “stronger.”
Even if it works, that would defeat the whole point. You wanted it to be personal, remember? To kill her with your own hands, and enjoy doing it, thus ridding yourself of her shadow?
To the world, maybe. But I just witnessed her sending you crying with a glare even though you could and wanted to kill her the moment before. You need to patch up your Achilles’ heel, not work on your biceps.
That’s not necessarily true at all. A lot of the time it’s literally some stranger who was hitch hiking.
It’s only for females that all the victims are almost always personal enemies.
@sljzz
If you think this is about pragmatism, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s an emotional thing top to bottom. The MCs whole plan is illogical at its core, but to them, it will help them become ready to kill their mother since they would have already killed “her” multiple times before.
It doesn’t matter who the victim is or what they’ve done. The MC would be dressing them up as their mother and literally acting like the victim is their mother right there in those moments, except they would be unburdened by the fear that only she causes them.
Do you think that when Gein sliced up bodies and made their skin into a giant body suit so he could become his mother that he was being pragmatic or emotional?
…How would that make it no longer personal?
This.
Also this. Its a twisted form of desensitization, in a sense. Its not meant to make perfect sense. You’re thinking normally, not like the MC.
Wow, this was fascinatingly twisted. I absolutely love the inner monologue of the MC; it really allows readers to understand the motivation and, of course, the sheer terror, the MC has. To the point where even though most probably wouldn’t approve of the “practice” the MC is planning on to steel their nerves, many readers will likely sympathize with the MC’s ultimate goal of killing their mother.
And of course, the whole psychological aspect of this is enthralling to me.
I’m excited to read more!
Also, when you’ve apparently gotten enough of a reputation that someone can make a reference like this, on a thread you’ve never even set foot in yet, and expect people to know who it is…it MIIGHT be time to get a new, untarnished username.
Thanks, I’m glad to hear it!
Hehe, true. Or, you could wear it as a badge of honor.
Will we get the option take souvenirs from our kills?
So found this WIP which is very interesting and something i cant wait to play the full version of.
But one question (which maybe has been answered somewhere in the thread) what is our character? A sociopath or a psychopath?
A sociopathic, revenge-focused killer with really dope powers.
Aw, do we really need to label everything?
Can’t we all just hold blood soaked hands, sing about dismemberment and enjoy murder?
That’s obviously gonna be the post-release ceremony. We just need Sam The Man’s blessing.
I want to have a option to join the police who is trying to catch us and “help” them along with the case
*like Arsène Lupin
I’m sure their Captain would look amazing running barefoot in a dark mine while dawning a blood-soaked version of Mother’s favorite dress.
I can already picture the ceremony speech.
“We had good times. Some people died, and we all had a few laughs…but now it’s finally time to get out there and really see more of the world and other people and all the parts of them.”
“Obviously, I’m referring to all the parts of the people. Thank you.”
You actually play as vice captain of the city guard, and you’ll be “helping” catch the killer (aka you)
Edit: also I realised this will be the MC’s situation
You all are hilarious.
@SirBearington
Of course!
MC: finds a random drunk woman
Also MC:
Another edit: @Samuel_H_Young can we play the whole game without being exposed or will the city guard need to find out who we are at sometime ?
