Edgewick Edgelords or we riot
Oooh. That’s a good one.
Is Doge too old? I thought he still had relevancy. Maybe my meme-fu is not strong.
Doge isn’t as relevant as it used to be. I feel that meme mascots unintentionally date the game AND toe the line between ridiculous and too ridiculous.
I liked Fighting Peacocks for Edgewick. Maybe Knights (or Lancers) as well, fitting the whole blue-blood theme that they have.
Yeah, I think meme mascots would date the game, too – even if you choose a more relevant one, chances are the funniness and meaning behind it will be gone in a few years. Perhaps if the game was connected to a certain year and mentioned current events it’d be fine, but since there’s some leeway as to when this game is set I think it’d be better to have mascots that have that same timeless quality, too.
Y’all are right. Even if I’d rather that you weren’t. Okay, so the Fighting Peacocks, and then I will need one for Adams.
If you’re going to use memes, make them references to certain vines. Even though vine is very much dead, the memes have still survived. I can personally vouch for that since I’ve never met a person (gen z specifically) that doesn’t know at least a few good vines.
But also like @expectedoperator said, memes don’t age the best. Some have a nostalgia to them but kids of now aren’t going to get them. I mean, I’m a gen z kid who was around long enough to remember to seeing doge die out so I still appreciate it but, yeah
But for Adams, maybe we can get a parallel with the birds? Something more average since Edgewick is the good school but y’know it works.
For Adams, maybe the Bulldogs or Badgers?
Or Bantams?
I am an actual millennial (as opposed to what the press calls millennials) and I was only dimly aware Vine even existed, and couldn’t describe a single one with a gun to my head.
The bird corollary is interesting. Adams High Pigeons, or Adams High Sparrows.
At the same time, like any good UGA attendee I do like the Bulldogs idea. Gooooo Dawgs! Sic ‘em! Woof woof woof woof woof!
I quite like the idea of Adams High Presidents, since one of the themes of that branch of school is the fact you named all three schools after Presidents of the USA.
Quincy, you have some serious team-naming skills.
I would like to say I took a course on it to sound cool as apple pie, but that’s not the truth…lol
I was going to suggest: the Adam Apples …

I know … too cute, am I right?
The Adams Apples actually sounds just about perfect. Silly, but not absurd like the Doges. It does take away the connection to the Edgewick team, but that’s not a huge deal; this is so late in the game that any repeaters probably wouldn’t remember what the team name for the other school was by that point.
I know, I’m flighty. But this one really might be it.
Oh, last night was devoted to karate. It is now in for year 5, 10, and a little blurb in the bully section. Did I miss including it in a lesser capacity somewhere else? Possibly. I tried to do control F to make sure but there is no guarantee I caught them all. Point is, it is going to be a new activity. Hopefully an update in a week, but we will see how hard the tryout segment is to write.
@hustlertwo
Bug, in year 10, in the diorama scene.
I chose: “Sigh. Okay, what do we need to do?” then: “If it must be done, it should be done right. Jennifer needs an A+ here!”
Together, you embark on an hours-long project magnificent in scope. You’re not sure why you had a bag of sand in the first place, but it allows for a masterful depiction of the Allies storming the beaches of Normandy. It doesn’t quite reach Saving Private Ryan-esque realism; this is a fifth-grade class, so probably best to go light on the missing limbs and such. But you still feel confident that it will earn Jennifer Spielbergian levels of acclaim. She earned it too, working on the diorama for hours before finally succumbing to exhaustion and falling asleep on the sofa.
An all-nighter normally just means staying up past midnight, or maybe one or two in the morning. But to craft this painstaking creation, you literally did not sleep. It shows. You’re late to work, move like a zombie all morning, and you get called to come get Jennifer early since she is not feeling well due to her exhaustion. On the way to pick up Jennifer, you run a stop sign and end up with a hefty ticket. This leaves you rather surly by the time you arrive, and your child does not seem to be much cheerier given your police-inflicted lateness. She slumps in the seat beside you, her own exhaustion apparent. “Well, I got an A on the diorama. Ms. Applebaum said it was the best work she’d seen all year.”
Your mouth twitches. “Great. I got a court date for the twenty-fifth. Let’s go home and sleep for about fifteen hours.”
You glance over, but Jennifer can’t hear a word you’re saying, as she already nodded off in her seat.
I am getting the text for creating the best diorama with Jennifer in the first text box, and on my own in the second text box.
The bug is caused by the: “If it must be done, it should be done right. $!{aname} needs an A+ here!” Choice going to the bestdio label, but that label is for MC’s who worked on the diorama by themselves.
So I think the beach scene is by default my favourite vacation scene. Would have been nice to have the choice of a foreign vacation, mind!
When I got to year 14, the game stood still… Was that supposed to happen? Also may I suggest adding some more events to the childhood years to make it more varied? Also, would it be possible to have twins, triplets or quadruplets?
It was supposed to happen, in that for the current demo year 14 is the end. I am close to done with 15, but I got pneumonia again which has knocked me back. On a bevy of meds right now.
Multiple kids would make this story tens of thousands of words longer, so that would not work. I am working on a small bit to add to year 8 that will hopefully be a little different.
Story updated, all the pertinent info at the top of the page.
Got some eternal loadscreening trying to get to year 15?
Hmmm. I will take a look when I get home and see what the issue is.
I want to say that I am still in shock at how quickly this chapter passed testing. Longest one yet, and it failed Ms. Quick a grand total of one time, for something at the tail end I had written this morning. Passed Mr. Random on the first go. That said, there may still be a bevy of errors that aren’t the type that trip up the system, so stay frosty. Assuming not actually loads for anyone, that is.
