The Judgement of Tarkar [8/9/2024, Months 6 and 7 update]

Another small update: The first week of month six is now playable! It’s a short week but serves as the introduction to the upcoming festival planning and the conflict between the gods. There’s also a few hints as to who will help you plan the festival depending on choices throughout all the previous months.

What can MC get in adventure outside the city? Treasure? legendary loot or something?

Yep! You can find treasure (money, elixirs, food, clothing, or weapons), earn legendary items (special weapons or clothing), get special items the Sorceress seeks, discover unique locations that affect certain story arcs, and speak to characters that can impact which ending you’ll receive.

Just posting to say that I’m planning an update for later this month!

New Update for 8/9/2024!

Added Month 6: Did you hear the news? There is going to be a holy festival next month! Unfortunately, you don’t get the chance to sit back and relax because Harja has made you the planner! It’s a big job for one person, though, so who will you choose to help you with the rituals, art, food, and entertainment? More importantly, which god are you going to honor?

Added Month 7: The festival plans are underway, but the gods laugh at mortal plans! Your decision to honor one god has left the others snubbed, and now there’s a potential war brewing between Tarkar and its neighbor. Will your festival be a success? Just a dull event? Or perhaps you deliberately want this honor to the gods to fail…

I’d love to hear any feedback you have, especially what you did with Tarkar’s neighbor (divine curse? thieves? attacked? blockade? peace?) and which god you ultimately chose (and if you have good or evil Harja).

Wait we can have an evil Harja!? How?

Yes – just like how the MC has a morality stat, so does Harja! If you just want to get Harja’s evil festival their morality stat only needs to be below 50, so you don’t need to choose every -1 option… but their future actions and endings will change depending how how good/evil they are.

Harja Evil Path Options

Month Two, Week One
Choice 1:
#“It would just be our luck if he’s a member,” you say with a nod. You don’t understand why and how $!{nameh} could bribe without consequence, but you figure this is not your place to point it out.

#“If that’s the case, then you might be able to find him in the Slums,” you say with a nod. You don’t understand why and how $!{nameh} could bribe without consequence, but you can use it to your advantage.

Month Two, Week Four
Choice 2, version 1:
#“You did help,” you say, shaking your head. “You warned him about the Housing Council, and he was able to save his possessions. That’s as much as anyone could do, and you’re supposed to be anyone right now.”

#“You did warn him about the Housing Council, and he was able to save his possessions,” you say, pausing. “But it’s a good thing you didn’t help further. That’s not your true purpose here. You aren’t supposed to be helping. You’re supposed to be judging.”
Choice 2, version 2:
#“No, you did enough. You saved that painting of their family,” you say, shaking your head. “But I think you’re forgetting your true purpose here. You aren’t supposed to be helping. You’re supposed to be judging.”

#“You could have gone in again. You only saved the painting of their family,” you say, pausing. “But it’s a good thing you didn’t help further. That’s not your true purpose here. You aren’t supposed to be helping. You’re supposed to be judging.”

#“It would be unwise to threaten me,” you tell him, laughing in return even as you question if $!{nameh} would have your back.

#You take a step back from this balding nobleman. Did he really just threaten you? Perhaps you should go find $!{nameh}.

Month Three, Week Three
Choice 4:
#“I don’t think we should confront the Council. They might ask for higher rent,” you say as you eat your breakfast. “It’s not your place to interfere, anyway.”

#“Don’t forget you are here to evaluate,” you say as you eat your breakfast. “The Housing Council has done terrible things, but it’s not your place to interfere.”

Month Four, Week Three
Choice 5, version 1:
#“Lord Endure Bryn owes me a favor,” you say outright, taking a bite of a cucumber. “He’s going to help us after I helped him steal a horse.”

#“Lord Endure Bryn owes me a favor,” you say reluctantly, taking a bite of a cucumber. “The important thing is that he’s going to help us.”
Choice 5, version 2:
#“Agesilaus and his group of thieves owe me a favor,” you say outright, taking a bite of a cucumber. “They’re going to help me after I gave them free drinks at the inn.”

Choice 5, version 3:
#“Your $!{chosenname} Guide has thought of a plan,” you say, taking a bite of a cucumber. “Don’t worry about it. We’ll be in the palace soon enough.”

#“I didn’t think of anything,” you lie, taking a bite of a cucumber. “Maybe you should have done this instead.”

Month Four, Week Four
Choice 6, version 1:
#You decide not to tell them, instead quickly getting up from the table without a word.

#You hesitate but decide not to tell them, getting up from the table without a word.
Choice 6, version 2:
#You decide not to tell them about the inscription you saw beneath the mural, instead pushing your plate closer to you.

#You hesitate but decide not to tell them about the inscription you saw beneath the mural, instead slowly adjusting your chair.

Month Four, Week Five
Choice 7:
#“You haven’t changed at all since we met,” you agree, knowing that it’s what $!{nameh} wants to hear.

#“You haven’t changed at all since we met,” you agree despite it being what $!{nameh} wants to hear.

#“Of course you can’t. You’re a god,” you point out, thinking that you can’t imagine them changing so greatly either.

Month Five, Week Three
Choice 8:
#“I don’t think you should go,” you say as move your seat a little closer to the table. “If this prayer doesn’t require a dominion, then any other god can answer the boy’s prayers.”

#“Then you should go,” you say as you move your seat a little closer to the table. “One week won’t matter too much in your overall evaluation of the city.”

The best way to tell Harja’s morality level is by how they answer the prayer in Month Five.

Harja's Answers

(Less than 46) I then left the boy in the village as a warning to all who entertain forces beyond their control.

(46 to 49) I then collected the gold dust from the hair pin and gave it to the boy. If he finds his way to another village or city he can sell it.

(50 to 53) I then sent the boy to the city of Nomia where he will be under the protection of the God of War.

(Equal or greater than 54) I then sent the boy to the city of Nomia, where he will be under the protection of the God of War, and collected the gold dust from the hair pin so he may sell it for gold.

It’s a bit tedious and repetitive to be forced through the same options every single week

and also I hate that harja bitch with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns

which is so bloody ironic

Thanks for the feedback! Are you talking about the job and/or weekend choices? I have an idea that should put a monthly option for the jobs to make it less repetitive, but I’ll have to look closer at the weekend choice to see what I can do there.

Yes, having to choose the job and outfit and place to visit afterwards every 5 minutes.

I feel like I did everything to please Harja, yet she still disses the festival after it ends TT.

Harja is hard to please, haha! Which god did you choose, who did you delegate tasks to, and how was the conflict with Nomia resolved?

Is the romance with harja implemented? I have 81 relationship with her but I haven’t seen anything related to romance.

Sorry, none of the romances have been implemented yet! Some choices should be appearing in the next update, along with the magic options and the month skips for jobs, clothes, and visits.

I think it might be bugged. Got this in my playthrough.

Small update! This one is focused on mechanics – I added the month options for jobs, clothing, and weekend choices. I also added a difficulty option, although right now it only affects job results. I’ve also been adjusting the festival stats a bit, which might help align the outcome of the individual aspects with Harja’s thoughts on it overall… or make it worse! :joy:

Another small update: I added a few magic options and gave more/less money to the blessed/doomed difficulties. Next update will be more story with romance choices.

Just to make you aware, Dashingdon hosting will be closing soon so I would recommend moving this to cogdemos or uploading a compiled html file:
