The Highest Office

Even if they do, the game won’t even be legal in Germany.

@Aquila That shouldn’t be a problem. I do not suspect that, as a game written in English, there will be a particularly large market for a CoG piece in Germany.

You always do call the fascism system with another name and set in another planet all would be the same but nobody would complaint

Edit @Drazen @Aquila and me are spanish and we buy Cog and there a bunch of people from not english speaking countries.

@Marajade
You could always stick with “Totalitarian”. It’d probably better to make a generic fascist government than create one modelled on the specifics of Nazi Germany, or Imperial Japan, or Francoist Spain.

@MaraJade Indeed it would be on a different world, and I probably will change some of the more…per say radical systems…

@Drazen So far I was looking at: Conservative, Liberal, Fascist(what ever I call it) Monarchist, Moderate, and Totalitarian (Dictator/possibly communist)

@BraveMustang There seems to be a bit of a crossover: Monarchists tend towards being Conservatives, and Totalitarians tend towards Fascism, as well as to Communism (But always go to the left, I suppose). Communism itself also has a strange, flirtatious relationship with Liberalism, at times.

What about an Anarchist, or just a Libertarian option? A candidate who works to undercut the government from within, Swanson style, could be amusing.

@BraveMustang
Liberals and Conservatives who aren’t Monarchists, Non-Democratic Socialists or Fascists tend to be supportive of some level of democratic tradition or other.

@Drazen @Cataphrak Yes I understand your points. I will refine it later tonight

Slander and conspiracies. Two things every good corrupt Politician must be able to pull off :wink:

On a side note, I highly doubt you’ll manage to get in censored in Germany, at least as long as you don’t put in pictures of the Swastika (the Nazi-Version, not the religious one) or try to incite people to actually overthrow the government and kill Jews/Foreigners/Dentists/random minority group.
Just to show the bar, you’d have to at least beat Hitlers “Mein Kampf”, which is still legal (though not reprinted on copyright grounds).

Avoiding the censure of Apple, on the other hand… :wink:

@Nasdaxow That’s the trick!

Anyway, As a quick update, I’ve been making solid progress, and would like to have a demo out sooner rather then later. So far, I’ve chosen

Conservative
Liberal
Anarchist
Totalitarian

as the basic ideologies, I am more then happy to add more, so please suggest.

I think that covers the logical political options so I would stick with those!

Could you further explain them. Totalitarian ? Nazi fascism or comunism both are horrible but different.
Anarchists dont believe in gobern system only in freak comitees and fake public assambles, so include anarchism sound weird as hell

@MaraJade
All systems are horrible. Capitalism is disgusting xD

@DJ_CUTY
All systems of government are bad to some extent, but that’s because all systems of government exist to mitigate individual desires and turn the ambitions and motivations of individuals into public goods which serve everyone within the state. Anarchy is the individual, unleashed, with no restraints.

Most governments are like jumping out of an airplane with a parachute soaked in urine. Anarchy is jumping out of an airplane without a parachute.

Are we to devolve into angst-ridden, teenage dismissals of statedom so quickly?

This conversation made me think of Thomas Paine’s quote

“Government, in its best state, is a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one”

“Democracy is the worst system of government… except for all the others.” My Personal Hero, Winston Churchill.

@Drazen
Actually, I’m pretty sure most of us are statists here.

@Cataphrak Nevertheless, it is the insane minority which worries me, alongside the pervading smell of ammonia which seems to stem from your understanding of statedom.

@Drazen What is your understanding of statedom?
