The Fernweh Saga (Scheduled Release: 5 January!) [Book One is 600k]

Sorry all for my tardy replies–too many issues popped up that had to be dealt with and that took up way too much of my time. I am (almost) looking forward to the work week so that everything settles down. Now, back to Fernweh…

@Cat-Toes

These are great reasons to make a new character for each route. This would allow each of my MCs to develop their personality and romance organically. I would think it would also be very interesting, as you suggested, to see the story from different perspectives. For example, I would imagine an MC with B as a friend versus my Daisy with Bee as an RO would experience quite different interactions.

I think that I mentioned that Daisy’s bestie in Fernweh is Ruby. The interactions between B and R are quite entertaining. I would like to develop a new MC who will romance Reese and have B as a friend. I can imagine that dynamic would probably be equally as interesting, yet different. Of course, I still want to try S’s route first, but once the game is out, I will have plenty of time to explore many options. :grinning:

@lo6otia

The creation of ‘Snarkassy’ was hilarious. I will probably try the JR route based on recommendations in this thread. I’m not sure of my MC’s personality on this route; maybe flirty, a little snarky, a little cruel, and friendly? I think it is a testament to @lacunafiction ‘s writing that several of us want to playthrough multiple times with different ROs.

@Zeal

I am so glad that you liked my MC, Daisy. :slight_smile: I appreciate your asking me about her (definitely no trouble) because it allowed me to organise my thoughts about her and to find those great photos of Madison. Daisy would blush with pleasure over your compliment about her name (btw, Sora is quite a lovely name also). She is certainly the cat lover, although she is also quite fond of dogs (she put the food out for the dog; Bee glowingly approved of her action).

If you haven’t tried the Zombie room at the Dorran’s, I would strongly recommend it. It has a bit of a creepy vibe, but I found it so great with all the ‘hints’ that were embedded around the room that relate to zombie movies/shows. I won’t mention them here in case you haven’t tried that room option yet. There is one reference in particular that I think you would like to discover! Let me know if you find it/have found it. :eyes: Just as an aside, I found “Army of the Dead” on Netflix last week. I haven’t finished yet (go away real life), but it is quite…interesting. You might enjoy it if you haven’t already watched it.

I almost forgot–I am happy that you like me username. I need to come up with a great icon like yours. I will put this on my list of fun things that I need to do.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

So question time: How come none of the romances left this Town? and what that spell for the future? I mean, you&Becca are clearly ‘outsider’ even if the MC grow up in this town right? what will happen?

And don’t give me that generic ‘I was a beta tester, lips sealed unless cake is involved’ :grin:

Will your MC stick around for their chosen romance? Leave? (That is if we survive). Hm, unless the Town end up being eaten and there is only a crater left…so back to the city?

Also, where does becca&mc come from? What about Work?

This question (and others) is answered in the game. Guess you’re gonna have to waaaaaait. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

The wait is killing me, but I know it will be worth it. :heart_eyes: :star_struck: :kissing_heart:

You know you’re asking questions with very spoilery answers, right? I’m just hoping we won’t have to wait too long for the release, so we can have a proper conversation about all these things :slight_smile:
Hmm, cake you say, what kind of cake? :moon_cake:

Boo…it aint my fault! Though, I’m not asking for spoilers. I’m asking in general, like without spilling the beans…would your mc stick around or encourage the romances to leave? Although, it make me wonder which ones can actually leave. Ruby for example, strike me as someone who could…maybe? S can’t because their mothers and the Lodging. J can’t cause of their jobs…

So becca would be the only potential one who would go back with you from…whenever we came from.

I shall remember that you smarty pants :smirk:

for some reasons, I got this idea that the game gonna end like in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A huge crater where Sunnydale was :rofl:

@furyleika :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I have a good memory when it comes to Returning Visitors! I love learning about them since I can then possibly incorporate choices or scenes that I hope readers will see and be like: ‘oh, that fits perfectly!’. And yes, I do also keep files for MCs when I know a lot about them; typically for my betas, but there are some readers who also make edits or share facts that I mentally file away for later on while writing.

I’m trying to recall which room theme your MC picked. I think it might have been Cat’s Cradle; I remember us talking about R’s cat in the past.

I’m going to include an ask from Tumblr; it’s publishing tonight from my queue. If there is interest, I might start sharing from Tumblr; maybe do a Tumblr Thursday or Tuesday where I post something on this thread. I know some of you don’t go on both websites, so this might be a way to shed more insight on your favorite RO(s). :green_heart:

Tumblr Ask Rooms 8-29

B: Rainforest Respite as we know from Chapter 1, though I could seem them being curious about Safari Slumber and Cat’s Cradle.

S: Nautical Nap because of the blue tones or Rockin’ Rest due to the music element that they could appreciate. Given the room themes in the B&B, you can bet that S’s own room didn’t have any limits set on it by Mrs. Dorran. She would be fine with her child doing whatever as long as the space was respected and they felt safe/comfy in it, etc.

R: R would fall into the Cat’s Cradle ‘trap’ that I know some of your MCs have experienced. The sheer amount of pink in that room wouldn’t bother them. It’s the painting that makes the room a hard pass. R requests (politely demands) to switch to Royal Retreat, if Mrs. Dorran isn’t around to hear. (They don’t want to upset her or the creepy children in the picture.) If she is, then R would wait and go pester S for a bestie sleepover or flop on the couch. (I feel like S would likely go get R, even if R was trying to tough it out on the couch to not bother anyone… But they would playfully toss a pillow at R first. XD)

J: They would likely make an excuse not to stay the night, but if they had to pick, it might be Futuristic Futon once they see the door. J can vibe with sci-fi stuff since some comics have elements of that…

Best wishes! I hope to talk with you all more later on. :grin:

Royal Retreat didn’t exist when I first played through but I’ve since switched to that in a total metagaming move. :sweat_smile: I’ll have to concoct some reason for Rosalind to have picked it that’s not just because I like it best.

This is such a fun idea; some of my favorite details about the characters come from asks you answered on Tumblr. :heart_eyes:

R’s room preferences are on-point; Cat’s Cradle appealed to me from the beginning, but I also fell in love with Royal Retreat when you introduced it. (Of course, you know exactly how I (and Marcie) feel about that creepy as heck painting in Cat’s Cradle.) I also love the colors and aesthetic of Nautical Nap, but the ocean terrifies me…

@Lambkin I have a preference for the Cat’s Cradle (the picture is a little creepy, but the cat theme outweighs). I also tried the Zombie room (as I mentioned in a previous post) and found lots of hidden treasures that references various shows/movies (it was fun :zombie:). Although I will admit that the changing blood trail did give me an uneasy feeling since it implied something was under the bed. I haven’t tried the Nautical Nap room, but I will on a future playthrough; maybe one with S?

I once got pulled out in an undertow, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it back in to shore (it was touch and go for a while). So, I appreciate your fear of the ocean. I definitely respect it and pretty much choose to just view the water from a comfortable spot on the beach. :ocean:

@lacunafiction I wouldn’t mind eventually having a sleepover with B. :kissing_heart:

@Starfield Same! I agree. It was after witnessing some of their exchanges when I was playing B’s route that made me interested in trying the RJ route. I liked what R said to J about the jelly (or maybe it was jam?) in the fridge during chapter 4; they kind of clash and complement each other.

I agree, this is such a fun idea! I also learned some of my favorite details from Tumblr. (Its also where I found out R had a cat for the first time which is the real reason I keep coming back to Tumblr. The cat pictures.-JK I do check for the asks, the cat pictures are just a bonus.)

I love the idea of a cat themed room, but I can’t handle the sheer amount of pink. (Also 100% agree with R, that painting is creepy.) Luckily Fanny (My MC who’s staying in Cat’s Cradle doesn’t have a problem with the pink, she is a bit freaked by the painting. (but she gets scared really easily, and I mean really easily, so she’d be scared of any of the rooms.)

Nautical Nap is probably my favorite, and the one I think I would personally stay in had I the opportunity. I’m not even particularly fond of the ocean. I just found the aesthetic of that room to be the most comforting, (Or just the least creepy).

Hello!

Just read your demo yesterday and I fell in love with it! R caught my MC’s eye so far and will read again to see the shy and the flirty options are like since my MC decided to hid her feelings toward R. Also lookong forward to trying out other rooms, My MC chose the Cat Cradle because cats, didn’t expect lots of pink. :joy:

Looking forward to the your first book and congrats on your submission!

@resuri08

I have yet to do an R route, but I’ve seen some conversation on here about a shy MC with R and how their interactions are cute. I bet R flusters the MC. I also saw in the game the hide feelings choice. (They were greyed out for me because I have played with Ruby as my bff.) A playthrough where my MC masks her interest could be fun; lots of tension. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth: I doubt R gets refused often.

I don’t know if R is more of a heart-breaker or a heartthrob or something else?

For some reason, I thought the Cat’s Cradle room would be in black, white, and orange like a cat. It was just a feeling. :joy_cat:

I’m definitely not up to date on my zombie pop-culture references to really catch any of the fun nods at different shows and movies. Maybe I’ll ask my friend if she wants to marathon The Walking Dead sometime. (Though I do have a slight aversion to zombie-themed attractions; I completely avoided them and their chainsaws when I went to Halloween Horror Nights several years ago.)

I was going to suggest the MC could put together a makeshift barrier to block anything from going under the bed, but then it occurred to me, if something was under the bed already, that something could then knock on the barrier (the underside of the bed, etc.) to torment the MC in the middle of the night. So, uh, nope.

It’ll definitely get S’s stamp of approval with all that blue. :ocean: :blue_heart:

Oh my gosh, this is terrifying, and I admire your bravery; I’d never step foot on a beach ever again (which, given where I live, would be kind of tough). (Alsso, I know this already happened/is way after the fact, but I’m glad you’re safe.)

I agree with you; it’s definitely one of the more soothing themed rooms. (It’s the description of the sailboat after the first nightmare that puts me off.) And if I could get pretty sea glass-looking tiles for my own room, I totally would; that’s probably my favorite detail of Nautical Nap’s initial description.

Ah, to be Daisy and to not have to choose who gets the coveted BFF status between B and R.
