The Dragon's Covenant (WIP)

I found a bug where Azgor ask if we already a name and suggest some dragon names, but I already have a name given by Arael and currently romancing her. By going through it, it replaces the name I was given with the new name.

Oh, I hadn’t even thought about that—English isn’t my first language, so when I originally set up the variables for pronouns, I didn’t take those differences into account. Right now, I have it set up like this:

*create gender "undefined"
*create HeSheThey "undefined"
*create HimHerThem "undefined"
*create HisHersTheirs "undefined"
*create HimselfHerselfThemselves "undefined"
*create IsAre "undefined"
*create WasWere "undefined"
*create HasHave "undefined"

These get assigned later when the reader chooses the MC’s gender. But yeah, I didn’t realize the issue with the differences between “his” and “hers” depending on context. I’ll need to rethink how to handle that and rework the variables a bit—so it might take a little time to get it right and replace all the old variables.

Also, sorry about the misgendering issues! I’ll go back through the text later today and fix anything I find.

I actually like it as dialect, it feels more like a living world. It’s just the instances where it wouldn’t be dialectic that it can be a problem.

oh, this one’s a bit weird. I had added a condition for it to show up only if the name hadn’t been changed yet before, I don’t know why it showed up, but I’ve adjusted it a bit to see if that helps. I won’t be able to fully test it until later today though, since I’m a bit short on time right now—but thanks for letting me know!

Oh, yeah—I think I found where I messed up. This one might take a bit longer to fix, but I should have it sorted out later tonight, if all goes well. Sorry about that! I’ll post here again once I get it fixed.

Love how you actually include the MC in the world building in the story while the MC is present exploring the new discovery. It feel more like we are actually adventurer and exploring the world instead of just writing an essay of the of the world building. I see a lot of world building where they just delayed the story progression and instead write the world building in an essay form.

The stats seem to do the opposite when I tried to do an arrogant mc said stats seem to make selfless go higher while arrogant is in the negatives. Great IF aside from that bug, I especially love the characters and lore.

I believe it’s fixed now! I’ll do some more thorough testing tomorrow, just to be sure. That scene in particular is kind of a tangled mess of ifs and redirects, so it’s pretty easy to get lost in it.

Thank you! I’ll take a look at it as soon as I can tomorrow. I’m still figuring out how this double stat bar setup works, so I was kind of expecting something to go wrong somewhere, haha. Really appreciate you letting me know!

Can there be a toggle for the poly stuff or something, I’d rather not trigger a poly romance just because my arrogant stat is high and I talk to Lyra.

Oh, no need to worry about that! As soon as that scene comes up, you’ll have the option to clarify that it was a misunderstanding and that you’re not interested in her that way. The dialogue that triggers it is also pretty specific, so it’s easy to avoid entirely by choosing a different response when the time comes.

Is this part not implemented yet?

That choice is only available for now if you’re not currently romancing anyone. I still need to figure out the best way to implement her poly route properly. For now, all it does is set Ruby as the romance option, but there should be more development on that in the next update.

Bit surprise nobody’s asked for more character and romance details in the top post, it’s usually one of the first requests on a thread I’ve noticed

Ah. Does Arael still disappear if you don’t go the romance route? I swear when I picked the friendship route, she vanished.

No, she’s not supposed to, at least haha.

I changed it a while back. The way I set it up now, she should still go along with you even if she dislikes you, thanks to Lyra convincing her.

There were a bit more of those questions at the beginning, but I’m still here if anyone’s curious about anything else, haha.

Is this stats heavy? I can’t differentiate whether I failed stats check or not because of how overpowered the MC is. Maybe add stats check verification like that of Aura Clash and Path of Martial Artist.

It’s not very stat-heavy. That’s actually something I’ve tried to avoid as much as I could. There are a few stat checks here and there, but they’re aren’t very common.
