The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - An affair of the heart (WIP) (Ch 6.1: 31 jan 2025)

@Ghoslestat :+1::+1: which story do you think would be fun? I’m thinking something short and friendly? If any newcomers to the books want to join

@flowersloveoranges :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Thank you for commenting! So wonderful to hear that you loved the demo :heart::heart:

 Thank you for asking if you can support the game financially! But as you said, some parts of the copyright remain in the United States (not where I live, but Patreon is based there so the laws apply). And the Conan Doyle estate has sued before based on the last books. I have talked about it a bit on tumblr and here in the forum, but as it stands right now, I would feel more comfortable with waiting until the copyright is fully finished in one year and four months. After that, who knows. Honestly, I would probably not say no to any support, if people are still interested in the story by then :relaxed:

I wanted to ask on one thing in particular: does choosing voluptuous mean that Sherlock will be curvy like Marilyn Monroe is curvy - 24 inch waist and all around tiny, or more like Ashley Graham curvy? If it’s the latter, then will choosing the first option simply labeled as ‘Curvy’ mean the former?

Oh, and also thanks for letting us to play as unattractive, it means a lot :+1:

I might have discussed this before, somewhere in the thread, but the body type choice is just a word used to describe the player, by themselves or other NPCs. I won’t make any assumption on that word alone. If I ever need more to make a reaction or choice reference work, I might expand the option, so the player defines the word further.

The reason it is done this way is that, like the situation you asked about, a descriptor like that can mean many different things for many different people. I recommend choosing the word you would prefer Sherlock to be referred to as should their body ever be described.

I’m thinking ‘The Man With The Twisted Lip’ or ‘The Case of Identity’.

If anyone can think of any better ones, add your thoughts.

I like them, I am up for both!

And if anyone else has any other stories to propose, please write!
I’ll then do a little poll on which story, and we can pick a deadline to read it and then discuss it  a mini book club thing! I don’t know if it would be alright to discuss a Sherlock Holmes story here. If not I could make a discord and anyone who wants to join can join

Good idea with Discord :+1:

I think it’s probably better to do it on Discord or another thread, because it would clog this one with a lot of new messages not related to the WIP :+1:

@Cingulum_diaboli @Kirlett
Yeah, I am definitely leaning towards discord now  though it would have to be a discord I turn off and on when it is used. I don’t really have the time to moderate if it is ongoing all the time, and I think it would be a lot of work if it got out of hand.

But yeah, I’ll make one soon :kissing_smiling_eyes::+1:

@Fardil_Husain :relaxed::relaxed::relaxed:

So, everyone, here is the poll for the mini book club thing:

  • The Man With The Twisted Lip
  • The Case of Identity
  • The speckled band

0 voters

The stories are all relatively short, around 30-60 min reading time, I believe. The winner is the one with the most votes in about 24 hours.

Anyone can join. We will have a small book club thing over discord, probably sometime next week.

I don’t know if it should be a live thing for an hour or two—or if it should just be an open forum? Any ideas are very appreciated

@Talaya :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Thank you! Fair warning, completion is a long while away

The book has been chosen!
The Case of Identity is the winner

I’ll create a discord soon  I didn’t really think so many people would be interested, and while the amount that want to join will probably be less than the voters, I’m leaning towards a sort of open forum where we discuss the story. If people really want some voice channel discussion I could still do that, but with so many people it might be difficult haha

Thanks for voting, and I hope to see you in the digital book club!

(I’m saving this on my phone. It’s too good not to have with me at all times :grimacing::+1:)

And I suppose my head canon is the whole bottom row

Art! Fine, magnificent art! I’m the first one on the last row… and bit of the middle one on the second, sometimes :joy:.

Hahahaha I love it! I feel like third one in the middle, without the alcohol :joy:

Two for two different Holmes:

  • First row, second column for the more, hmm, let’s go with extroverted one. :grimacing:

  • Bottom row, first column for the more introverted one. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

10/10

I’d say my Sherlock is a mix between the first one on the first line and the second one on the third line. Add a bit of the third one on the third line as well!
