Finally introduced RO 4! This update also includes story progression & a reshuffle of scenes from the previous update to improve flow.

As always, looking for feedback on consistency, coding issues, and anything else you might flag up.

A little late to the party but I’m in love with this WIP!

Urban fantasy is always interesting, there’s a mystery/crime-solving aspect to the story, and it’s apparently also going to tackle reincarnation and past lives (!!!) so I knew I was bound to love it no matter what. And I did!

I had a lot of fun getting to develop my player character (so many different options in how you can respond to things!), the dialogue between characters flowed really naturally (Reese and Amari snarking at each other was a highlight), and the characters we’ve met so far seem lovable and wonderfully quirky, too!

I also ran into a line that didn’t quite make sense.

Think it was supposed to be: It steps forwards as you move away?

I’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

Update 05/10/19!
Romance/friendship scenes, a little bit of plot, not much else; although this update is short in terms of playthrough, there are several possible branches depending on previous behaviour.
There’s one route which contains major spoilers for the rest of the book, so please be aware of that if you choose to give feedback! You’ll know it when you see it.
Thanks for playing, as always, and I hope you enjoy!

tenor
okay this time i’m trying to control myself and not only talk about our lovely adrian shawn so, what happens with the kitty after we are attacked? did i miss something (i probably did lmao)? also this is a super serious question, can we keep it please?
also don’t tell shawn but i’m going to play the other routes right now !!! because all the characters seem so interesting and loveable in their own way !!! you did an amazing job !!! i loved the update mwah !!!

glad you enjoyed it! thank you for the lovely message :heartbeat:

I haven’t quite decided what’s happening with the cat yet, there might be an option to keep him but we’ll see. Whatever happens, he’ll be fine, it’s a horror game but I’m not a monster.

This was interesting, I played it a couple times, talking to Shaw some more and getting to know Levi on my second time. Are the last two options hidden because certain choices hadn’t been made or because you haven’t written for them yet? Either way, the options had me like :eyes:
I look forward to future updates, I’ll surely be keeping my eye out for this one.

Those options are locked to certain stats - they are possible to unlock in the current demo, they just require some specific choices.

Thanks for your interest!

This update was great! I played through it a lot of times to try as many different options as I could.

I’m still charmed by the whole atmosphere of the story. The attack and its immediate aftermath felt so hazy, and you could really feel the shock the player character was going through. And your dialogue! Reese and Amari continue to have my favorite banter. Case in point:

banter

I also love how the friendship paths are given just as much weight as the romance ones! Your characters feel more and more real, and getting to see them adapt to the player character in a more vulnerable state was a delight. (I’m in love with everything about Amari, please note.)

I’m so excited to see where this goes next!

Thank you! I’m not a romance writer by a long shot but I do really enjoy character interactions so I’m hoping to give the friendship (and as time goes on, you’ll be able to develop more antagonistic relationships with them as well) routes just as much value as the romances.
I’m really glad it has replay value as well, that’s something I’m aiming for.
Thank you for the encouraging comments!

I had a thought,

If we had the confrontation with the muggers and grabbed the switchblade, there ought to be an option to pull it out of your pocket when the Strigoi attacks.

Taking the cops gun seems a tad irresponsible.

Not that I think attacking the strigoi with a switchblade seems like a good idea…

Just wanted to say this is one of my favorite WIPs right now. Absolutely fantastic. That supernatural neo-noir vibe is absolute catnip to me.

That’s actually a really good point, I’ll definitely take that into consideration! As for it being a good idea… maybe not, but the choice is yours. It would be kind of boring if everyone made good decisions all the time, right?
Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you, this is lovely and v encouraging to hear!

Holy shit? I LOVE it?!

Every time I think I’ve read all the current WIPs that are in my wheelhouse, another one will pop up and bash me over the head. This is awesome. I can’t decide if I’m sad I just discovered it or happy that you’re further along now.

I have only played through a couple of times so far, but I have really enjoyed it. The characters are interesting and distinct without being tropey. I feel like all my interactions are given a good weight, not just the romance ones.

But honestly I’m super into the world building more than anything. I am very interested in the rules of the universe.

The description of the strigoi was creepy and gross but not too much. Great balance of horror.

I only have one thing to say about this wip…

REESE. IS. CUUUUUTEEE!!!

God dang it, you sure aimed for my weakness using her xD

Seriously though, I enjoyed the wip, the story is there, nice cast of characters and I can’t wait for more!

Really enjoying this so far! I like the range of character choices- I never reached a point where I thought “none of these sounds like what I’d do”.

One thing I will say- and this might just be a cultural difference- my straight male character getting a forehead kiss from Shaw felt a little odd. That’s a bit more intimate than most straight nonrelated men will get. Or even related men, for that matter. Similar with the hand-holding in the dream/flashback.
