You have absolutely no reason to be nervous sharing this story, it was AMAZING! I don’t understand those complaining about it being gender locked. If anything it wouldn’t have the same impact if it were gender choice. It leaves you feeling like a bit of a rarity being a woman in an otherwise all male band.
I adore all the characters, I’m going to REALLY struggle picking who to pursue but Vincent has my heart so far Keep up the fantastic work author! I have a feeling this story is going to be among the greats!

Sure thing! There’s a character section in the Stats, so I was debating making one in the forum or on a tumblr. Thus I’m glad you asked, because I needed some kind of incentive! Thank you for reaching out. I have Pinterest boards with references and such, so I’ll try to create some kind of master-board with it all for you
Edit: I tried to edit my post to include a character description listing with links to the inspiration I took from Pinterest, but no such luck! I think I left it too long and the edit time-bracket has now closed unfortunately. I should’ve done it initially anyhow, so I do apologise. For now, do find the character descriptions in the stats section of the game. They appear chronologically throughout the story based upon interaction and are quite detailed. When I do get around to updating Scapegoated with Chapter 1, I will ensure to include a character description in the announcement post, as well as any other added trinkets and details I can think of! Again, sorry about that!
Goddamn does this IF seriously fucking cook! I don’t mind genderlocked stories long as the story captures me and holy Santa Klaus shit does this one mean business. I was seriously like “uuuuggggggghhh!!” when it ended. I want more. Definitely more.
It’s been a while since I’ve been this curious after reading a WIP. This story is hella good and intriguing. The story flows perfectly and the characters dynamics is really good. I’ll pray that you can finish this story without a bump, cause i think this is excellent and have a really huge potential good work and good luck:heart:
Give it a go, it’s really worth it. I was put off a bit by having to play as a white person but leaned into it and (shock, gasp, horror) made my MC blonde and pale. And honestly there are so many “proper” games out there where you are gender-locked male because the gaming industry is filled with men. IF writers on the other hand seem to be a lot of women so it makes sense that some are gender-locked female. Fionapple would have to rework so much of the story if they were to add a male option.
P.S. @fionapple I didn’t see Fleur in the romance screen, is she just a hookup?
Thank you for echoing my sentiments! Since only the prologue is out, it isn’t as obvious as to how race and gender will play a huge factor into a lot of the story coming up, but I am hoping if it will gradually more and more sense.

thank you for taking the time to reach out by the way! Fleur is just a hookup I’m afraid (one of many potentials). Due to this, she is listed under minor characters. She will reappear eventually, but she does not play a key part in the main storyline.
I had the same thought! I am a woman but I am definitely not white and it didn’t matter to me - I love the music from Joni Mitchell and Stevie Nicks and Janis Joplin and so many other white female music icons from this time period and this just felt like an extension of that, of a woman that could have existed in this time in this way in this little fictional universe. And you’re right that there’s countless story rich RPGs with set characters. I don’t think we always need to be able to make “ourselves” in an interactive game, I think it’s great that so many games try to do that but it would be incredibly limiting, for both the reader in what they are exposed to and the writer in the stories they can tell, if that should always be the case. Sometimes you look through a specific person’s eyes for a specific reason. The beauty of fiction is expanding your own horizons and examining an idea from a different lens. And I can tell that there’s a lot of thought and care put into this one
same! i’m a nonwhite woman as well, and was skeptical until i actually read the demo. i trust the author and their ideas. i think it will be fun to follow the journey of my 2 MCs i’ve made up (blonde French woman + brunette British woman). it will almost be like reading Valley of the Dolls, Slow Days Fast Company, Play It As It Lays, etc. some IFs are just so good you don’t necessarily need to self insert!
