Scapegoated (WIP) - '70s Hollywood, Music '&' Murder [62k words]

Hey, everyone! I am excited, albeit slightly nervous, to share my IF that I have been working on this past month. It currently consists of a short introduction and prologue, and I am opening it to a public beta-testing more or less. Find link below!

Synopsis:
Take centre stage as a former-rockstar turned actor navigating your new career and the chilling grip of fan-obsession. Your once-famous band may be nothing short of a ghost of the past to you, but the rest of the world cannot seem to let go. The split in 1968 was scandalous, abrupt and mysterious. And although you’ve thrown yourself into acting and secured your first major role with a big time Hollywood director, whispers of blame have been on your tail ever since.

While most of Hollywood sees these rumours for what they are–empty gossip–a darker current takes precedence and poses a much more sinister threat to your life and the lives of those around you.

Features:

  • Shape and mould into your truest ‘70s self. Perhaps you’re a mod-girl or a hippie?
  • Interact with ‘60s and ‘70s icons on the Sunset Strip.
  • Help uncover the identity of the ‘Ampersand Killer’ terrorising the West Coast.
  • Decide which career path is more fitting for you. Are you made to live on the silver screen or stadium stages?
  • Pick from a selection of love interests. Will you fall for your brooding ex-bandmate; an elegant folksinger; the filmmaker shooting your film; an Academy-Award winning actor and your soon-to-be costar; or the lead-detective investigating a serial murder case that you are connected to?
  • Includes two gender-choice love interests as well as an array of potential flings.
  • A catalogue of original songs for fictional musicians.

To whomever does read this, do reply or reach out in any way that you can regarding bugs and errors of any kind. Thank you!

I don’t usually play gender-locked female games nor have I ever commented on a post, but wowza! This is really good!!! I’m looking forward to seeing where this game goes

I wanted to have a gender-choice protagonist, but as I was planning the story I realised the protagonist being a woman is central to the plot. Really sorry about that!

Discussions of racial politics throughout the story, I wanted the discourse to be clear regarding stance and accountability. I tried to think of ways to discuss multiple point of views absent of involvement from a main character of different racial backgrounds and I couldn’t think of any that didn’t disrupt plot—or just entirely removed the mc from those important conversations. I also thought of the characters contingent to their backgrounds, upbringings and history to entirely ensure a lot of my research about each cultural background was historically accurate—especially of the contemporary issues such as the troubles in ireland, the paris protests of may 1968 and the growing anarchy movement in the uk.

loved what you’ve got here so far!! very interested to see how the plot will develop and how we’ll be involved with the murder element of it. i felt like my character could really exist in this time and her career y’know… the newspaper description of the outfit and her getting sly with the paparazzi for asking about george harrison was too real, i could just see it in my head lmao. just loved it!!!
