I’ve just finished writing the good end to the Rose/Briar romance.
I’ve also done a couple of short scenes with Great Aunt Edith.
I need to aim to actually get something uploaded. I don’t want to upload any of the endings. I have actually done a fair amount of work, it’s just all disconnected and mostly ends. I need to work on the middles.
I do that all the time with my writing. I’ll have the beginning worked out then randomly write scenes that are far from being connected but I know what I want in between. Just so hard connecting them.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that does that, @Scrivener. I was beginning to think I was an oddity.
Anyway I wanted to ask do people want the endings uploaded, or would you much rather wait until I have middles there too? I know not much of the game’s making sense currently anyway since it’s very jump between the scenes without anything bridging them.
Agreed. Middles would be the logical thing to put up next then the ends. @FairyGodfeather And yes I love when I’m not the only oddball in a room. I’ll have ideas that are far along in my story and not have the ideas yet that connect it all together.
Damn! And here I was just wanting to put up the beginning and the end. That middle’s the tough bit. It’s the not so fun part. Okay! No shortcuts then. I will see if I can get something worked on and put up.
Well you know we all love the story so if we can love it enough to love it (makes sense in my head meh) then we can wait long enough for you to do whatever you need to do.
I love the idea to become a witch! I also agree that you should post the middles before the ends simply because I want to know how I get there rather than just reading the endings. That would take out the whole journey aspect of the adventure!
Damn! I really, really just wanted to post the endings. Why does a game need middles anyway? Okay! I won’t. I’ve written a few more ending snippets. I likely won’t use all of them though.
I’ve been poking away at Aqua and Swampy’s adventures too. (Individual Adventures, they don’t adventure together.) If I actually typed up everything I have Aqua’s would be done but I’m not finding the motivation and I’m busy trying to tweak things.
I’m going to change the deliberately cracking the egg to the start of the evil path, I think. I’m not sure whether to have an evil dragon hatch or not though. Hmmm I think an evil dragon could be fun only not sure if I have an individual personality for it.
Eh, how hard is it to establish a dragon is evil anyway? Have it eat someone and cackle. Like in Fablehaven (I hated each and every book and yet I read them all. WHY)
I’d read the ending! It would give a different perspective to playing the middle, I’ll be on the look out for foreshadowing and red herrings.
I would I also like to say that when I first read ‘Great Aunt Edith’ I thought that was her title, like she was the champion Aunt and everyone bowed to her ('her highness, the Great Aunt!). I may need more sleep.
[That would have been kinda cool tho.]
Heh! It’s just a baby dragon to start with though. A baby dragon will have problems being evil directly.
Hahahaa! I think for Great Aunt Edith it is her title. That much is revealed in one of the endings I’ve written. She’s a Great Aunt, the Great Aunt, in fact.
Oh my god, thank you for that. All hail the Great Aunt! This game is going to be so good.
Well, maybe the baby dragon can bite someone’s finger? Some people react to a puppy biting them with ‘it is evil incarnated!’.
Fablehaven is this series of books about fairies. Well, really it’s about a maaaagical girl and her idiot brother having maaaagical adventures where they are alternatively completely useless or saving the world. It’s like a really long fanfiction.
It might be attractive to a ADD 11-year-old kid. I am not one. It was recommend to me by a not-very-good-at-her-job librarian, after she heard I like Rick Riordan books (‘oh, but you’re like 20, right? I didn’t know people your age still read those!’ I was like 15 when they came out, and shut your face, those books are awesome).
Thank you for your enthusiasm. I hope the game lives up to your expectations. I need to get it finished.
I needed to google Rick Riordan to see who he is, the name sounded familiar and no wonder. Percy Jackson? I’m very much a believer of read what you want to, as long as you enjoy it that’s what matters. I read teen books sometimes. My favourite Terry Pratchett’s are his young adult books, never mind that he has a whole pile of adult books too.
I think what you should do is not necessarily have the dragon be born evil or to have a distinctly evil personality seeing as it is just a baby, after all. I would like for it to simply be a particularly mischievous dragon by nature and by association and continued contact with the evil person it has as an owner, will eventually become evil itself. That would allow for MAYBE a path, depending on how in-depth you want to go, that has the dragon and the player become enemies if the dragon turns out to not actually be evil but the player is. Or you could have the player decide not to be particularly nasty and they could end up more or less just pranksters who occasionally go a little bit overboard with their shenanigans. And there would be the path of them both being equally evil and destructive.
Well Sparky’s the mischievous dragon, if by mischievous you mean angry and intent on setting everything on fire. I’m definitely not usually a fan of the whole born evil thing, but with a tongue in cheek game I think I can likely do that. The evil path is essentially get your revenge, overthrow the Prince, become ruler, take over, with the awesome power you’ve gained.
I do like the idea of the dragon becoming more evil along with the player though. However that path ends up, it’ll mostly be written for some over the top fun. Typical villain stuff, like that list of things evil overlords shouldn’t do.
Heeee! Okay I’ll keep in mind the evil black dragon. I think it’ll be the last path I write though. It’ll be a little bonus. I want to focus on the other five first. But six dragons, including one evil dragon, does appeal to me.
I’ve finally got going with Aqua’s Adventure and worked out the personality of Agaric, who’s the character central to that. Agaric’s a Scholar, as opposed to the artist I originally envisioned, extremely rich and studying ancient civilizations. If you play your cards write they’ll invite you and Aqua to join them on their nautical adventures, or fund your artistic endeavours. It’s only at 1,300 words so far but that’s a vast improvement on what it was.
I’m at 2,300 words now just poking at it every so often while browsing the internet. I still need to write the end of the segment, but it’s just about there. Then everything needs tied together and I need to go back over it in order to fill in all the blank spots.
