Saving a Playthrough

So, this I am sure there is some context I am missing in both the history of development choices for CoG, and as someone who doesn’t mess with scripting, but I have some questions about how “Saves” are done for games. If it is relevant, I usually only play/read (plead? Ray?) on the app.

My first question is why can you only save your playthrough if a sequel is already released? I would love to be able to save for games that don’t have a sequel released (or possibly even planned).

My second question is if there was a way to look at your saved games/characters (and specifically their stat screens) from finished games? I get attached to my characters, and would like to reminisce, sometimes, but I only ever see my saves at the start of a sequel.

If someone could give a sort of introduction or guide to how Saves work within CoG development, and how realistic these ideas would even be, I would appreciate it!

If the writer has no plans to create a sequel, what would you do with the playthrough even if you could save it? But yes, the only official way to save a playthrough is if the author sets up the save transfer system for a sequel. It’s the way CoG/HG designed the system and we have no control over that.

There isn’t. (Unless you take screenshots of your character before finishing the game and putting it for safekeeping in a folder somewhere.) This is something which will require CoG/HG to substantially rework the engine and omnibus for, and I don’t know if they’ll take up a request like this. Your only way would be to take screenshots of the ending screens and stat screens, and put it in a personal folder somewhere to reminisce.
