@Bagelthief Go tell Ami, she’s awesome!
F-language? Doesn’t seem like a particularly efficient method of communication. If you want to keep your kids from intercepting your communication, Public Key Encryption is the way to go.
so how is the demo coming along?
I just randomly thought of something! You should totally do your next Warrior’s Path game about pre-unification Hawaii! I don’t think anyone’s done that before. I wanted to make a Mount and Blade mod about that but I don’t have any skills except questionable writing and criticism.
I know very little about pre-unification Hawaii. Actually, I know nothing whatsoever about it.
Great! Same for most people. A perfect excuse to learn about a different culture! One that was heavily oppressed to the point of near extinction by “The White Man” and Christianity.
Why the air quotes?
@ScarletGeisha: I’d probably slap quotes around “The White Man” as well. It’s a metaphor for racial privilege and Euro-American colonialism, not a literal historical entity like, say, Christianity.
The quotes highlight the fact that it’s metaphorical – I don’t think they dilute the ugliness of what it refers to.
Your thoughts?
@Havenstone Seconded. It’s essentially specifying Western Civilization’s kyriarchal structures. It’s air quoted 'cause it’s not meant to be taken as a perfect literal concept (all white males) and instead as a generally understood concept without a perfectly drawn definition.
IIRC I used virtually the same phrase in some of our earlier discussions.
It’s used in the same manner as The Man but nobody uses quotes for that. White is added to acknowledge that Western Imperialism plays a part.
I’ve seen The Man with quotes – though yes, more often without.
And from what little I’ve read about it, I do think that pre-unification Hawaii would make an excellent game. @Shoelip – any recommended reading material?
And I am always interesting in broadening my horizons so… Suggestions?
Air quotes because of how pissed I got at you about throwing that phrase around earlier in this thread.
I’ll have to get back to you on suggestions.
Im really looking forward to this, and i know u said this takes place in a parallel feudal japan but did u consider adding any historical Japanese figures from the time period like Miyamoto Musashi, Ieyasu Tokugawa, Hideyoshi Toyotomi (just to name a few)
DATE MASAMUNE!!! TOKUGAN-RYUUUU~!!!
Who’s Tokugan Ryu?
Do you mean Dokuganryu?
[mod]That was inappropriate.[/mod]
