Question on where things are released

Some of these games (particularly the hosted games) are released on Steam, others are not (e.g. The Grey Painter, Fifty, [many, many others]). Some are released on the Amazon Appstore, and others are not (e.g. Zoopocalypse). Is there a logic to predict which stores will feature a particular title?

All games from the professional labels, Choice of Games and Hearts Choice, get a Steam release, to my knowledge. Hosted, it depends, though on what I do not know. I assume it at least partially has to do with how well they believe it’d be received on Steam so if it’ll be worth it. I’ve yet to see Hosted games that had a sizable following during its wip stage not also be released on Steam. (Golden Rose, Blood Moon, Sword of Rhivenia, etc)

All Choice of Games and Heart’s Choice games are released on Steam, without exception. Whether a Hosted Games title gets a Steam release depends on whether HG staff consider the extra expense that goes into a Steam release a good investment. New installments in successful series get a Steam release by default. It’s also pretty much guaranteed for works by successful authors and anything that had an enthusiastic following as a WIP. Short games usually don’t qualify for Steam, at least upon initial release. Games that aren’t chosen for a Steam release but perform better than expected on other platforms sometimes get a re-release on Steam later on.

I don’t know anything about the Amazon app store.
