Prompted by the post about a game crashing someone’s comp I went into the games code to check what was wrong, and then looked into other factor.
What I found was that the game in question is 64MB huge.
There’s usually just one reason for a CS game to be like this: People not resizing their images proper. The Wizard of Oz game had the same problem, having the game stand at 90-something MB.
So, please, people, double check the filesize of your images.
In an effort to do this, could you tell me how? Sorry, I’m more writer than coder, and I don’t want to make things difficult for anyone. Also, what is the correct file size and format. Cheers!
Check the “make your own game” category here on the page. The dimensions are there (can’t link them atm, sorry.)
EDIT: Hah, got it:
Icon: 1024×1024, but mobile devices will resize it down to 48×48. This icon should NOT include the name of your game.
Splash Screens: This screen will be displayed briefly as the game starts (on various devices) and will act as the first screenshot in the store.
480×800 portrait (Android)
640×960 portrait (iPhone 4)
1242×2208 portrait (iPhone 5+)
Here’s an overview for the image dimensions.
To check the filesize you can rightclick on the file in your folder and check its properties.
This isn’t about what images to use, but about their size.
If a file is too huge it can cause problems with the game.
Sorry If I sounded rude. But I can imagine my feelings if were my game the one called out in public by other writer.
It was being used as an example of a problem…
