Well, that means that they’re not real mages.Cuz if they WERE,they probably would’ve found a way to get 2 people of the same gender pregnant with each other by using a spell or something.
Or at least I think. This can be applied to a lesbian couple,as the magic can just flow into the puss puss of one of the fine ladies, and then they’re pregnant. But 2 guys…I’m not seeing it.
Also, the Battlemage is planned to span across 5 books. I want for you to be able to get what you want. The romance, the badass feel, all the things that I myself want when I read and more.
I also want the world to be alive. People will have differing ideas. Some people just will never accept your way either, others are more malleable. There’s a lot of background problems cropping up and tensions running high. You just aren’t exposed to it… yet. You are only 12, but once you reach the Academy in chapter 3 it will be more of a free for all.
Also just to clarify for the Battlemage is that in Magus Terra (the tentative name for the world) Mages aren’t glass canons. Simply put they are superior beings compared to the average human. Some people even worship Mages. Others consider them demons and with a good reason for both sides.
Mages in Magus Terra are the elite. The leaders of the world, the military officers, the ones with the best learning and assets.Whether or not that all goes to your head (like so many others) or if you remain humble, or be somewhere in between is up to you.
There’s a ton of I have planned for book 1, and you don’t even get to meet one of the Cults yet.
Obviously you’d need a surrogate mother, who would bear the conceived child (and hopefully be compensated for her trouble). The magic would probably ensure that at least one X chromosome was inherited, and would have to compensate for mitochondrial DNA, too… It’s not rocket science.
But it would be a very nice, subversive option, in my opinion.
Thank you. If they’re going to take my golem friend against their will, then I know I don’t want them as a RO for my MC. All I have to worry about now is my apparently abducted golem…
This whole discussion actually does bring up an interesting point. I’m going to have to ask around and do some research on this matter. I could do it as magic (probably will), but I want there to be some real thought put into it as well.
I never said you wouldn’t be able to succeed now did I?
You’d be surprised how much grief I’m going to put Golem through. I have some scenes written down for future chapters that involve putting Golem in the most… precarious of situations.
If this isn’t asking too much and depending on how it plays out, I tentatively want the option for MC to be protective of Golem (just because Tulip’s obs not relevant to people) rather than competitive. It depends on how you plan it going down, obviously. Like, if this person turns out to be chill and Golem’s in love, then my MC won’t stand in the way…Unless it’s like her soulmate, maybe.
One thing to research is the birth in Mexico just recently of the baby that had the genes set from two moms and a dad. The same idea can be brought forward for dna from two dads and the surrogate mother. The idea was to avoid genetic disease but I’m sure you can adapt the concepts presented, especially in a magical world.
Basically, it would be easiest to look at what each parent supplies:
Mother supplies the womb, mitochondria, egg cell. Father supplies the Y chromosome. Consequently, a female/female couple wouldn’t need any extra surrogate if they wanted a daughter, although a male surrogate would need to supply the Y chromosome for a son. Meanwhile, the guys would definitely need a surrogate for the womb, although you could probably get mitochondria from either of the fathers’ other cells, and I imagine that the magic could “supply” the egg cell. Or you could just use one of the surrogate mother’s egg cells (along with its mitochondria, but not its DNA). Hopefully the magic would help to ensure the viability of the resulting foetus, too.
Okay, so maybe I’ve thought about this subject too much…
I was thinking the mage could just take the dna from one or the other strands of the fathers. So if they wanted a daughter, the mage could take the x-chromosome from both fathers and if the fathers wanted a son, then the mage could take the x-chromosomes from one and the y chromosomes from the other. As far as the womb… well I’d prefer magic there too because real world “stuff” involved with surrogates is too contentious to be happy with.
…consider me interest… nothing quite as refreshing as a good rivalmance built on passive-aggressiveness and belligerent sexual tension. Or secretly bonding over rebelliousness against the family.
Of course not…it’s genetics/genetic engineering.
As long as my MC will not be forced to end up pregnant…I mean…they have magic, don’t tell me they didn’t figure out working contraceptives by now.
