Orpheus Ruse discussion (slight spoilers!)

I know there’s another Orpheus Ruse topic, but it’s all questions and I really felt like sharing (and reading) impressions on the game itself.

I thought it was great! Kept me entertained and on my toes for quite some time. I can’t wait to play it again, since the replay value seems particularly high with this one. The length is great too!

The stat system bothered me a little, though, as I thought I was reasonably nice and compliant yet I still had ridiculous amounts of disregard and individualism. At least it didn’t affect the gameplay too much, which I’m thankful for, and it gives me another reason to start all over with more empathy.

The one thing that really disturbed me is that you can’t refuse to have sex with Annika if you’re in love with her. It might work at first, but you’re forced into it the second time around, and I found it a bit disgusting to be honest. I mean, seriously, who wants their lover’s first time to be with some random dude’s body?! Not to mention that they probably didn’t even use protection… *shudder*

Now that I think about it, the reason it took me a while to purchase Orpheus Ruse was that I was put off by the fact that I wouldn’t be in my own body and that it had a somewhat ‘‘military’’ feel to it. I was afraid the character interactions would be messed up or non-existent, and since relationships (romantic or otherwise) are one of my favorite parts of CoG, I was unsure whether I wanted the game or not. I’m really glad I gave it a chance and it turns out that you can build many great relationships, but my fears were still partly confirmed when it came to romantic ones.

It’s a relatively minor thing, and I’m probably being over-dramatic, but it kind of killed the romantic part of the game for me, especially since I’m having issues of that nature with my girlfriend IRL. ^^’’

Anyway, what did you guys think?

I thought it was pretty badass, myself. Had a bond crossed with xmen feel to it. I think the main downfall was length. It’s one of those game that you want to keep on going but just sort of ends. Took awhile to get used to the word psychic being misused as basicly someone with a random power, but I thought it was good.

My medical opinion: 8 out of 10 (insert random item here)s
