Thanks for all the stats and comments!

Yeah, that particular part of the scene splits into five parts depending on the MC’s stats (and then those five parts split and then–). But you actually managed to trigger that?! Other people were having trouble pulling out their weapons since there’s a coding oopsy there.

(✿‾̀◡‾́) < I take tribute in the form of kisses, Hersheys or otherwise.

Besides the obvious stats, the different careers are toggling a bunch of other things in the background. Various resources you have access to (such as the gun for the detective & guard), various starting traits (once again the poor guard), and past knowledge you’re going to be taking with you into the future.

The restaurant worker job tends to be one of the hard mode ones except for one chapter when it comes really, really, really in handy.

That ended up being more popular than expected (at least to me). Be a menace to everything in your general location, both allies and enemies alike!

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

But more seriously, there’s a pattern you can pick up regarding all these MCs who tanked their ‘purity’.

Regarding all the flavor test… let’s just say that everything in that overly complex customization at the beginning of the game was there for a reason. It’s either obviously important, seemingly extraneous but actually even more important than the obvious stuff, or it’s a red herring that’s going to be referenced a thousand times to hide the important stuff.

You know you’re never actually ever going to see that outside of when I go “Quick everyone, post your hidden stats that I’ve revealed here!”. Now I’m wondering if I can find a more visible place to stick that.

My “gimme all them achievement” run. (That being said I did forgot about the TV so that’s that)

Did I save scum to get “No Rescue Needed”? Yes, yes I did. My main struggle was trying to keep the fear and the corruption in check (poor security guard). I managed to get “Fearless” for the first time in my many runs. There probably is another way to get the achievement but yeah that’s it.

Overall, great game  I can’t wait to see the rest of the gang™

And here’s a preview of the second path through Chapter 2 (Part 1)… aka Attack of the Spoiler Names aka “It’s about time we get some knights in here”.

This path splits in three and thus has a beefier word count at 18,600+ words.

Summary

Thanks for the stats! Some of the Achievements are in direct conflict with each other, so it’s impossible to get all of them within one run anyway.

I’ve gone back and tweaked some of the fear level checks based on the stats that I’ve been collecting, so that should be slightly easier with the next update. Corruption level seems to be doing okay with what’s been posted so far.

Although you’re missing the talent created specifically for dirty save scummers like me. The rest of the crew should be getting hunted down popping up in a completely safe manner 1 - 2 per chapter from now on.

Hey, I’m curious about something: In the Serial killer MC route, we can decide whether to kill our last two targets or give up, right? Furthermore, for some reason depending on the MC, will it be possible for us to kill people other than the last two targets, hiding the fact that it was us who killed these people? I like to imagine a scenario where my MC killed enough people for the other ROs to start worrying about this serial killer. Yes, I like a little angst hehehe

Another random question, What is the “importance” of choosing which part of the MC’s body is beautiful? Just flavor text with the ROs? Even though it’s probably flavor text, I like the decision, and I always choose the legs as a beautiful part of my MC’s body lol

(sorry if I’m confused, English isn’t my language)

Yes, once the crew moves on to Europe in Book 2, the Serial Killer MC will have the option to kill one, both, or neither of their final targets. Although that’s not the only way that particular plotline can blow up in their face.

The MC (all of them, not just the Serial Killer) will have the opportunity to kill other people but not really in a serial killer-y type way. If the MC was prone to going Jack the Ripper on random people from the start, the demons would’ve gotten them before Merlin showed up. Meanwhile as the Apocalypse progresses, society’s not going to be in any sort of condition to be investigating random deaths and… stuff happens.

So far the best feature stuff is just flavor text… but not just with the ROs. Everyone notices it. Whether that becomes plot relevant… well, let’s just see.

So basically we would be left alone for the serial mc considering the freak accidents going on for now. I know it might corrupt me but my mc can’t forgive them. After that I will try to avoid killing if possible.

Likewise for me, I will definitely kill the last targets, and besides, I will analyze whether it is worth killing more people. I want drama but my MC is not a bad person (It’s kind of weird saying that to an MC who is basically a serial killer lol)

Path 3 is now done (14,500+ words) plus a 4000+ word potential extra bonus scene for the Lucid Dreamer MC. So the next update will be adding an extra ~48,000 words to the beta test.

I’ll next be rejiggering some of the minor stat checks + flavor text in Chapter 1 based on all the data I’ve collected (I’ve already done so for the major ones that were giving people trouble) plus potentially setting up one last basic shortcut through the customization scene.
After that, it means…

The game will update November 16th.

Here’s a preview from the third path in Chapter 2 Part 1. Arthur makes his debut as an RO (instead of haunting your nightmares) guest starring the Boldly Flirting Sassy Lucid Dreamer MC.

Summary

Eventually there will be ways to mitigate demonic influence, but there will certainly be various drawbacks (and benefits?) if someone decides to otherwise go all psycho murder-y during the plot.

Nice one. I wasn’t expecting an update but it’s welcome all the same. So we can get some benefits of demon corrupt but can we cure it or at least reduce chances of possession. I’m just looking forward to the drama unfolding when the mc gets out if at all.

An update incoming? I will admit I wasn’t it expecting it to be here so soon…but then your writing pace is frighteningly quick perhaps I shouldn’t be so surprised.

Also the fact we get ways to slow/stop the possession is intriguing. While I imagine it will take more than some priest with some holy water or Merly working their magic on us for a serial killer MC I like the options. Also the drama that it may involve? I’m liking this idea alot. Now if only they(Merlin) had to way to magic my MC to stop smoking a pack or two a day form the stress lol

I can’t wait to play this update when it comes out, the game is really fun and I want to see more characters.

Also I kinda want more interaction in Merlin’s mobile home. I mean what’s good is a mobile home if it isn’t somewhat lived in.

Definitely want to see more Merlin texts, those emoticons she uses are adorable.

Whoops, I double-checked the schedule and it seems that IF Comp has the game tied up until November 15 11:59PM Eastern, so I pushed back the update by one day to Nov 16 instead.

There are already a couple different ways to mitigate the demon’s corrupting influence for those who haven’t yet failed a possession check. It should also be slightly easier to avoid c̴o̸r̶r̵u̵p̵t̶i̶o̸n̶ now that you’re with Merlin and away from your Hellmouth apartment.

For those who are already possessed… yeah, you’re gonna need outside help with that. Luckily the people you’re currently with have good reason to be highly invested in getting possessed!MC exorcised ASAP. (And you’re on the right track regarding what might help, now if you just think more Arthurian about it…)

Alas, “ASAP” still means trying to reach the other potential Harbingers before the demons eat them, so that pitstop might have to wait for awhile.

homer_possessed2

But good thing about awakening as a Harbinger is that such mundane things as smoking will no longer be able to kill you (alas, for everyone else who’s not a Harbinger in your near vicinity).

Well, luckily for you, guess where you’re going to be living for the foreseeable future whether the MC likes it or not!

The MC is also due a whole slew of texts & phone calls once they wake up in Chapter 2, but I don’t think Merlin is due for any more messages for a good bit. (I say that, but I still haven’t completed the Minor sections for Merlin’s Guide to Arthurian lore yet, so there would be all your kaomoji.)

Great news about an update, but will we get any clues to our potential Camelot identities in Chapter 2? Does the dibs list contain all four options? I’m dying from curiosity here and need something to grasp onto :c

So on a scale from calmly discussing things to throwing MC’s belongings and MC themselves out to the demons how hard it is to successfully romance someone with the Lust vice?

Since Merlin’s sexy times are coming with Chapter 3, I have to ask - will there be a top/bottom choice for any potential m/m sex scenes (with Merlin or other male ROs)? Or should I choose lady Merlin for a rerun? I’m also fine with stuff like that left to the player’s imagination. Sorry for awkward questions :'D

I wonder if Adrian, being our stalker, knows about Serial Killer MC’s unusual hobby. He seemed shocked in that knives scene but maybe he just hadn’t realised the extent of our collection…

There’s definitely clues to who you are even in the early Camelot dream sequences where your choices are still setting up the particular background MC will end up being. People wouldn’t be treating random pigfarmer #4713 the same way they’d be treating King Arthur, for example. Also, unless you think MC is pulling a Fight Club, anyone you see in the flashback can’t be your past identity.

However, the early flashbacks will be general situations where all four of the potential Camelot MCs could be sensibly present. There’ll be clearer clues in the later chapters once the player’s actions have locked-in a certain background and the dream sequences start diverging depending upon who you are.

Some of the potential Camelot identities are present in the dibs list. Some are not. It’d be way too easy if they were all on that list.

About as easy as it is to stop Greed MC from LEROY JENKINS themself into every dangerous situation they come across.

It’s not so much the ROs that will cause problems that way (although there are definitely ones who’ll be more difficult to romance if the MC has a rep for being a player), but the MC themself that’ll be sabotaging themselves.

lust

Eventually there’ll be ways to try and get your vice under control, but not until later games. (The focus with this game is more on the phobias + no way am I letting the players fix their vices before they’ve got the chance to punt the MC in the face first).

The non-fade-to-black versions should have some details (which would include basic positions). The ROs certainly have their own preferences, but that’s something that can be worked out. (Merlin’s preference is any way you want, any where you want, damn near any time you want, so…)

If there’s interest I’m still open to a separate smutty DLC that goes into further detail than that, but I’m not sticking any rated X content into the base game.

adrian_knife

He didn’t realize something or other, all right…

I have a question about the imposter secret, since the name we pick at the start of the game isn’t our original name, do we get to pick out original name or is the starting name/alias/Camelot name(s) the only name(s) we get?

Our stalker will probably figure out our activities eventually since he’s drawn to us like a magnet for some reason unless it’s the fake memory loss which is going to be difficult unless Merlin get involved.

Any of the backgrounds that have an original true name (imposter, amnesia) will have the ability to choose that true name if it ever becomes relevant. (Non-lying Amnesiac probably hoping it becomes relevant, while the Imposter is hoping that it doesn’t!)

Well… with one special exception.

Assuming he doesn’t already know. “I didn’t realize…” could also be “(I knew you were murdering people, but) I didn’t realize (you had an entire hunting knife store packed away in your apartment)”.

Good to hear, I can do at least some guessing now! Being Lancelot is out of question I suppose… As are Arthur’s relatives, probably (though that incest tag…)
I peeked in the code and omg why is there the entirety of Merlin’s Encyclopedia in relationship stats, is it a clever ruse to prevent players from learning the cast’s incarnations or what xDDD

Yeah, who needs being mentally stable, it’s the apocalypse anyway!
In all seriousness though, I love it. While being afraid of committing is not uncommon for ROs, it’s pretty rare for MC to be like that (I mean you can always try to romance everybody, but it’s not treated as a psychological problem. At least I think so, I’m not really an expert in such paths…)

( ͡° ل͜ ͡°) v ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ಠ╭╮ಠ
That’s my MC and Merlin in chapter 3 with Adrian in the background disapproving of all of my life choices (edit: damn this looks kinda cursed on mobile oh well .-.)

Possibly bugs

If you ask Adrian about apocalypse, he suggests sending you info and if he is percieved as a stalker or an acquaintance, MC reacts with this

Yet you get a text from him about horsies being spooky before deciding on your bond stat and since MC can’t react with “who is this how do u know my number” I assume that’s a bit inconsistent)

Ed refers to Merlin as “she” even though MC’s just specified his gender
