tbh considering the academy is pretty new im gonna guess that Chaney will say yes
Maybe instead of tech tree have the player pick a fleet doctrine your MC wants to pursue at the start of the career and start building towards it. Like picking space superiority (carriers focus) or superior firepower (heavy ship focus) or space torpedo warfare (small stealth ship focus with space torpedo’s more built for stealth). You could make 4 or 5 doctrines or maybe more? some being tied to stats to be unlocked
Sadly we cant do that i think, we start off commanding a small ship so we cant really focus on the doctrine at the start, thought once we take command of perhaps a flotilla we could start developing our doctrine{s}
Yeah a Fleet doctrine might be a little above your paygrade in this game. If I decide to make a sequel though…
As Cyber pointed out the Academy is still very new. So yes, you or Wagner can both potentially be the first undefeated cadet in the history of the school. It’s just that that history isn’t very long.
Cool… Cool imagine having this kind of reputation and then the other students find out that your father is the admiral. The doctrine route reminds me of the Cole protocol from Halo.
If I decide to make a sequel though…
A sequel you say?
Most likely they will just scream Nepotism
they will just scream Nepotism
And yet they all get crushed by MC in mock fleet battle.
I wonder if Wagner and MC are getting shipped by the cadets lol
Guys hypothetically speaking can I bribe the raptors
Just played through the demo for the first time, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I dig how the age choices do actually seem to impact how people treat you and I appreciate how every character seems to have their own distinct personality without becoming trope-y. That being said, Wagner does remind me a lot of Caz from the Infinite Sea right now, though I’m sure she’s an individual and unique character.
I especially like the way success and failure is handled in the game, where you learn more from studying your failures than you do your successes. I think it’s a really elegant way to handle failure, making it so that it’s still useful in some way. I hope that’s something that we continue to see for the rest of the game. Also, while I’m personally not someone who cares much for hard sci-fi, I do like the way the science is explained in this game. It’s not too overwhelming, but it still allows me (someone with a limited knowledge of physics and astronomy) to understand how things work.
Lastly, a question about how things work in this universe. Are cadets from the Academy allowed to make requests for who they want as their subordinate/junior officers upon graduation? Or is it randomly assigned?
Are cadets from the Academy allowed to make requests for who they want as their subordinate/junior officers upon graduation? Or is it randomly assigned?
I feel like theres only 2 ways you get assigned, the first is how well you do, more good = better subordinate/junior officers. Second way is when the academy judges you off of your strengths and weaknesses and assigns you subordinates/junior officers that either bolster your strengths {ex if you have high intelligence you get a subordinate thats very bookish or something} or junior officers/subordinates that cover your strength {ex If you have low leadership you get assigned a junior officer thats very charismatic} of course theres always the nepotism based route but thats boring.
Say, does the term “submarine” existed within the space navy?
Insert comically large manned suicide torpedo, In other words if the japanese still exist, yes
Hey, thanks for giving it a read, I’m glad you enjoyed it! The success, failure thing is something I intend to continue both because I think it’s true that we learn more from our mistakes than our triumphs, but also because it helps balance the game. Win all the time and you’re going to be given more challenging assignments. Lose, and you may not be as well respected but your tasks might be easier and of less importance.

Right after graduation? No. After you start gaining more ships and more responsibilities? Yes, 100%.
Say, does the term “submarine” existed within the space navy?
The word exists in that submarines still exist back on earth, but it’s not a ship classification in the United Fleet. Stealth vessel exist and fill a role similar to subs in a naval role, but they’re usually just modified corvettes or destroyers.

This implies that ship racism exists.
How do Raptors communicate with eachother?

Sir the raptors just ate the delegation you sent to bribe them.
The delegation was the bribe.
