On choosing the Raider path. Can we freely choose where to raid or is it in random?
It will be like a short story. Game itself is more to narrative and less to managing stuff.
When I see screenshot of gains and looses comparing to raid and trade sections explore section looks less rewarding.
Will there be a long term gain for exploration?
That is just brainstorming. I want all of them to be balanced. Perhaps even so that all gains and risks will be the same.
Just an idea, put the explore option under both trade and raid, because if I’m exploring there’s a good chance I’m looking for someone with which to trade, or… (wait for dramatic emphasis)… raid. If you didn’t see that coming, don’t worry neither did many a coastal village and or monastery.
Hmmm, you got there something. I will need to ponder about it a bit. Not straight cutting between 3 options, but giving 2 choices in same story…
Is Raiding and Exploration at the same time gonna be possible?
Nope, after some consideration of what @Dartknight said, I changed it a bit.
Simple example -> you arrive at a subjectively interesting place, where you can do either - trade with locals, raid them or help them in exploring what troubles the region (usually mystical/lore stuff). So 3 ways how the player can go about this situation. For balance things (renown, wealth, and relationship) increase/decrease I can’t answer yet.
Simply incredible.
I liked the way you write, but I have a criticism, I think it lacks more dynamics.
Oh, thank you! As I haven’t published anything or written that much my writer’s voice is still developing.
Can you elaborate on what you mean by a lack of dynamics?
Still itching to start raiding
Simple comments here encourages me, thank you!
Due to family reasons (for those that very likely didn’t read my other post in the September support thread), my mom got diagnosed with cancer, late-stage and she is all I got family and otherwise, I have been very to say in mildly devastated, so writing hasn’t been on my radar. This month I really wanted to restart on it, but… have evaded it. At least thoughts of stopping writing at all have vanished and I still intend to finish this (and all the other projects I have in mind in the future). So I can’t promise when you or others will be able to to do some fighting and pillaging
But not to be all on the downside I can tell, that shipbuilding has been changed a lot, and it’s very customizable. I have even thought about the contest when I finish the game concerning this. Here is an update for that.
And here is my excel with calculations and warning a bit of spoiler:
No worries! Best to go on at your pace and family always come first. I Just posted that reply so the thread isn’t dead.
Nope, already have done it. A lot of times I love planning/coding stuff more than actual writing
Well played.
Hi, fierce warriors!
Here is a small status update of 2020-11.
I have been using a lot of my time outside of work with family. Mom is doing fine, but chemo gives heavy heart problems, but she is a fighter~
Speaking of Chapter 3 - I have restarted writing daily. Be it 100 words or 500 (on weekends I can hardcore up to 2k) and the self-goal is to finish this before the year ends. Can I do it? inserts doubt meme nevertheless I will try!
On other hand I have been learning a bit about the craft… reading a book here, watching lectures there. Lectures really inspire me to do other writing too. I even did a few paragraphs on my old book and some other projects that will be the focus after Dragonships is finished.
That’s all! I hope everyone will be doing good at the last month of the year and hopefully, my next update post will be the chapter release with full changelog (which is walls of text by now…).
You can do it!
Do it on ur time afterall family is more important
