Day 5: 2346
Still feels like too small of a step, but it’s forward momentum, so that’s a win. Still lots of coding, which is always top heavy in a game, and those words can take longer to write. But, it’s coming together.

I know I said I was going to wait until December, and there will absolutely be days where I don’t write anything because of school and marketing my book, but I had fun figuring out how to make this little tracker in Excel.
Thus far I’ve refrained from tracking in such detail like this haha. Just making an approximate measure of my progress every week ~
It’s a fine balance struck between the pace of content generation and the impact that those contents will have. I.e. quantity v quality –> but never to be stuck on overthinking / perfectionist obsession. I keep telling myself: better to be good and progressing rather than perfectly stuck.
I like making things in Excel or on google sheets but it never occured to me to do something like that. I’m going to rectify this terrible mistake right now!
Day 6: 390 + 1068
Total: 3631 (8645)
Urgh, so sleeeeeepy. (And so many hospital scenes. Why am I writing so many hospital scenes?)
Day One: 0 words
Day Two: 1563 words of Chapter Four
Day Three: 1229 additional words for Chapter One (reworking the Yeoman origin slightly).
Day Four: 2678 words for Chapter Four.
Day Five: 2021 words (579 for a rewrite of a scene in Chapter Two and 1442 words for Chapter Four)
Day Six: 500 words (roughly as I’ve spent this evening tidying up some grammar and fixing some errors I spotted.)
EDIT: Not updating the demo though as got some bugs to squish tomorrow first.
I’m not writing today, having too much of a migraine. So my Day 7 result will be 0, which I can tell already even though the clock is just starting to hit the hours when I’ve been doing most of my writing.
I hope you feel better soon!
I love the spreadsheets. ![]()

I’m actually happy with my last bit of work. I rewrote and erased all of the old stuff in the files. It’s all up to my current vision now. I’m being patient with myself, there’s a lot to set up at the beginning and I want to do it right. Unfortunately, this good work doesn’t translate to wordcount.
That’ll change soon enough once I get into the narrative part.
But here comes life again. Gone this weekend, hope to write on Sunday.
Day 8: zzzZZZZzzzz
I’m not sure if it’s the tail of my migraine or if I’m actually coming down with something, but I’ve practically just slept the whole day.
(I did manage some plot solving on the side though.)
Day 9: 0 + 697
Definitely coming down with something. Urgh.
I stopped tracking daily counts earlier in the month because I felt like I was adding words just to add words–and not adding the words I needed, if that makes sense…
But I haven’t been super productive so now I’m wondering if maybe I should have kept with it after all. ![]()
Hope the rest of you are doing well in health–and if possible in words! ![]()
Well, I sure failed this month. I had high hopes to writing every day and getting those big NaNo numbers, but life had other plans for me.
Oh well, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Onwards.
Same here. I’ve written only maybe couple dozen words in two weeks. But getting sick wasn’t in my plan, so there’s that.
