Mind Blind (01/31 Demo Update. A Story Where You Are NOT The Chosen One!)

@Aldieb Thank you so much for screenshotting the issue! It’s super helpful for me to identify where the problem lies (I think some coding got messed up when I added “very tall” and “very short” as options). It’s not specific to the K route–Lev’s conversation changes based on your height

In other news, I’m working on a mini side-story for Christmas–it’s a backstory I wrote to flesh out characters that I’m now turning into a short IF on dashingdon. As a thank you for everyone’s support <3 (You get to play as baby Button)

If I could urge you to try Glitch’s route I would! By far he is my favorite RO! Very compassionate about poetry, and his texting is superb! He’s also a skilled flirt!
It’s hard to explain without spoiling the route. But thus far he has been cheesy (of which I would say is a good thing!), helpful, and fun!

Some of his/her knowledge can come off as suspicious though. Such as his/her knowledge of the hospital floor plan, his/her unwillingness to reveal how much he/she knows about Kent (Nox or K) —specifically in the room 1 combat scene when you scout the room together—, as well as how he/she knows where you live (also the hospital scene). Additionally you could count him/her knowing your phone number as suspicious — especially since the MC thinks so too.
And we know that he/she is skilled with computers! But, according to the MC, no one would know that we are living with Nick. So Glitch would have to have known through different research methods. We could assume that K told him, but, if they didn’t know we were his neighbor like we are lead to believe on his walking to school route, then they wouldn’t have been able to tell Glitch.
Personally I cannot attest to his/her innocents or not, but glitch seems to genuinely care about the MC or at least enjoy their company! I really want to believe they won’t backstab us.

The following is only a small theory about Glitch that is heavy spoilers: I think that whatever he/she is involved with has a tie to his/her callsign and that either Kent (Nox or K) is aware and apart of the same thing or also not aware (but I am inclined to believe that Glitch and Noh are somewhat affiliated). Why? Because of the vision from Sally that shows both Glitch and someone with a mask (like… Noh perhaps?).

That’s amazing :open_mouth: Thank you for sharing your story with us and know that you’ve got an avid fan right here

I think you can count this off as “suspicious”. There’s no reason why Glitch would like to share intel about their best (only?) friend for years to a person they’ve literally met the same day. And that’s overlooking the fact you’re pitied against each other in the assignment. Glitch has shown a fair degree of social savvyness in the form of subtle manipulations, so I doubt a simple stranger’s niceness will cut it in a long, long time.

Additionally, the fact they seem proficient with hacking could account for why they know the hospital’s floor plan, or Button’s residence for that matter, though that’d be a whole other can of ethical worms I’m sure will be discussed in-game.

You groan. “It gets worse. I spent half the ride mentally drooling over her.”

“Are you going to be okay?” Sally asks. “You can sleep over at my place tonight if you want. I’ll provide either a gallon of ice cream and eighties romcoms, or three cartons of rotten eggs and enough toilet paper to teepee her entire house.”

BEST FRIEND IN THE WHOLE FREAKING WORLD! Kudos to Sally for just being awesome! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Gotta ask: 1. A suuuuuuper awkward love triangle (which is avoidable, and only angsty if that’s the way you want to play it)

with whome? anyone know?

We choose our romance route like next chapter so pretty sure that’s not happening.

K and Glitch are uninterested in each other romantically. The very thought makes Glitch laugh hysterically and K break out in stress hives.

Also, I realize I forgot to post last week’s update! I’ve yet to get in the groove of social media management (I’ll figure it out the day before the internet becomes obsolete, just wait).

Mind Blind Friday Progress

Words: 148k in alpha demo

Additional Words: 7k in Christmas Project! You get to see what the Wiseman family were like before everything imploded. Also, preteen Nick.

Next Demo Update: November 30th. Pushed back two days because I’m stuck with extra teaching shifts over Thanksgiving :frowning:

Chapter 5 Done List: Scenes with Gray, Sally, and K. Also Rosy’s homework scene (which you can only get if you lost the assignment), and the “loner” route. Even though you’re not locking into an RO route yet, some of the scenes are semi-exclusive (similar to the various car rides in Chapter 4).

Chapter 5 To-Do List: Finish up Glitch’s scene (you can finally go on that date . . . albeit with a third wheel) and transcribe the final twisty scene. I’m working on some variable tracking so that Button can figure out a certain development before it’s revealed, if you consistently pick certain options. It’s tricky to tip-toe around spoilers while still explicitly letting readers suspect something is fishy. We’ll see if I manage the balance!

Wooot!!! Thankyouthankyouthankyou! :hugs:

Also, good luck with Social media lol I avoid them like the plague for a reason.

Oh, well you do have Love triangle you know where A love B and C? But you can have some tensions between friends who fall for the same person without them entering into a relationship lol . I’m just saying…you don’t have to provide us with anything. the story is amazing as it is, and the romances are fine. I guess I just had my hopes up since I wasn’t thinking of Sally crush on Saint Nick as a potentiel anything if you romance her too . Since, he is your brother.

Hum…I shuttup now

Me and my stupidly one tracked mind is going to enter panic mode trying to uncover all the possible scenario(curse this curiosity of mine)

You can find the code by typing /scenes/startup.txt at the end of the demo’s URL and read all possible scenarios from there.

I believe people meant love triangle like N and A from Wayhaven, they’re not interested in each other but both are interested in the mc  for angst purposes I think lol

Personally I’m not a fan of Glitch because of how showy she was and the fact that she is obviously lying about lots of things. The way that she’s written makes me think of a very loud American (I’m sorry loud Americans but you’re a bit much for my ears to handle). As for the romance route, I superficially don’t like a bald head. And (not) superficially I can’t trust them, and I don’t date who I don’t trust.

You’ve made an excellent point that I can’t help but agree with! After all, I myself wouldn’t trust someone I just met with information on my best friend either.
As for their proficiency with computers, I’ve come across another point as to why Glitch would know about the hospital floor plans which I think could be applied to buttons house too.

If you choose to flirt with Glitch and get the date text from them and you say yes, Button is sent a picture from glitch of Glitch with a rose photoshopped between their teeth. Button in their internal dialogue says that this would have taken Glitch longer than three seconds to make (which is arguable knowing their proficiency with computers). If it’s true that Glitch pre-made that response and we apply their proficiency in foresight (of which we can infer from their status at Aeon as an MIV). We could infer that Glitch, as a friend of Buttons, planned the escape and thus knew the layout of the hospital as habit or to ensure a quick escape. I highly doubt that Glitch wouldn’t get intel from K about where Button lives in the circumstance where button and K met before getting to Aeon or that Glitch used his knowledge of computers to find out. And, though both of these acts can appear suspicious; Button did admit, if you choose to question Glitch about how he knew your home address, that their methods could be either more innocent or more sketchy than Glitch is willing to admit. Thus, likely, leaving room for you to choose if your button is inherently suspicious of Glitch (and there are many dialogue options that allow you to be suspicious of Glitch throughout several conversations with them. Such as during Rosy’s first assignment, after receiving a text from Glitch, and during the car ride) or to be trusting. — Though I mean that having an option to be suspicious is a button personality trait (or the ability for readers who are suspicious to voice it as Button) and not as a signal that Glitch is nefarious.

I feel that lol. Glitch would be first ro route for me if he wasn’t bald lol

Edit from 2022: I was a fool. I don’t care anymore about his hair or lack thereof, I love him.
