Holy crap, I don’t go on this website for 2 days and I find out that Mind Blind has updated!!! Like dam that always happens to me soooooooooo once I’m finished I shall be posting my reaction!!! Wish me luck!!
Sorry for the double post guys but dammmm holy crap that update is amazing!!! the little jokes, we can make like the tranquil rainforest one, the way we can know if Nick is super tense and Sally do the future vision thing!!! I chose the Glitch pathway(the sarcasm and humor grows on me. Maybe cause that’s my personality in real life???) and the cool foreshadowing “What u mean she’s missing/What to do mean u don’t know? U gave the order” was so cool!!!
In the sally route when you pick the option “how do I tell the girl I love that the boy I love is in my head” he says that what she feels isn’t love, but infatuation so I’d say that the tumblr was fairly accurate lol
@wildelight People can put a little too much emotion, behind their feedback, unfortunately.
I’m sorry it freaked you out or caused anxiety.
But it’s what WIP is for, so you can change things that don’t work together and bring new spin to things.
Just don’t forget to take care of yourself as well, take longer time if needed for updates and/or writning in general.
I know shit happened, it was bad. But i don’t want my Button’s only defining quality to be their damage so to speak. And people building their lives around my MC’s wants and needs doesn’t feel good, if i’m honest.
I’m all for Sally/Nick being happy, while my Button themselves sending K M rating imagiry and actually having fun with their life.
But this is a thread that is woven throughout the story and why I repeatedly refer to my mc’s hopes dreams and aspirations of being able to live a fulfilling, adult, life as due to his disability the mc functionally lives somewhat like a 10 year old in practical terms, no matter how privileged. And, yes, that is increasingly grating on my 20 years old mc, but at least the people closest to him, Nick, Sally and Gray mostly do it from a place of love and care. Mostly
John doing it on the other hand does make my mc a bit angry. To my mc it looked more like Sally conspiring with John, which does feel like a minor betrayal. With emphasis on minor tho.
As for the recent developments I guess now instead of Nick “retaliating” by messing with my mc’s crush on Gray it will be the reverse.
was just checking out this post and found out that ch 5 was already uploaded in the demo. the banter between my mc and nick, please my heart,
and the vision of each one of the ROs? jesus im scared. like really. especially for grayson and kent. kinda intrigued with ambrose and glitch’s vision tho. dead body and posibble encounter with the villain? ooooohhhh.
and i couldn’t help but laugh hard at:
Your teacher? Nick’s dismay echoes through your mind. Button, you’re lusting after Ambrose Kim?
also, genuine question, is there a possibility that we can have a poly ship? im in love with all the ROs, it’s impossible to pick just one
I’m leaning towards “nay” at this point, but I remain open to change. I agree with a lot of @bric’s, @Mistyleaf123’s, and @theredwoman’s points – I still feel for them both as their own characters, but I don’t know if I love them so much together anymore. I don’t know if Sally’s ready lol. (I agree with what disembodied!Nick says at one point in-game.)
I also don’t know if my Button is ready herself. Even though Sally’s held a torch for Nick since the beginning, Button has been made to feel like Sally’s first and foremost her best friend.
Nick might be her doting brother, but Nick has Gray. So Nick’s not fully hers.
I’m hoping my Button will have the opportunity to grow past the codependency (and the lowkey passive-aggressive possessiveness) into a more healthy, independent individual. Maybe finding someone for herself would help?
When that day comes…then she’ll be okay with Nick and Sally choosing each other over her.
To chime in (late) on other posts above, I like having the option to set up Nick and Sally. It’s also an entirely optional thing, which is cool. Mind Blind has spoiled me with its many choices.
On another note, anyone have any theories on the true situations behind Sally’s visions?
I’ve got one about the corpse vision for Rosy/none-of-the-above. The dead guy is Clarence, placed there to frame someone (lol, who could that be?) for his murder. Either that, or Noh left Button a present. Alas, Satan, we hardly knew ye. I’m probably wrong, but trying to guess is fun. As is being on tenterhooks after each new update.
Oh, and that recent Noh-related post on the Mind Blind tumblr is killing me. Cool art, but the text portion is making me flash back to all those troll-y tumblr posts on where people are asking if Noh is one of the already-introduced ROs. Right now, I’m like, “Oh, no, is Noh Glitch? That Eliot quote did sound kind of ominous. Or is it Rosy? That might be too easy to guess, so easy that it can’t really be that easy, but then again…”
Basically: awesome. Also: help me, I’m this close to building one of those conspiracy wall maps with tacks and red string.
ooh speaking of this, @wildelight, how many chances in-game will we have to activate Snickly? I’d appreciate a chance to do that later in-game (more towards the middle, end?).
With my mc’s rotten luck Noh will turn out to be Gray. And maybe Gray doesn’t even know about it. I mean who better to have a dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde kind of split personality than our resident smouldering hot Brit, eh?
I mean if we take the walking to Aeon route then Gray is dressed suspiciously like a playground prowler, so who is to say we don’t encounter that disguise in a less benevolent manner on the Subway path .
And then there is his name Grayson Black, so him having a black and a white or rather a black and a gray personality…well it may not be out of the question.
Also Sally’s vision about Gray, I mean who could hurt Gray better than Gray himself or his own split personality, as they could just temporarily deactivate the invulnerability and cut away.
Lastly since Gray is practically family it would certainly explain why they know so much about everything.
Whacky conspiracy theories are fun (as long as they remain confined to fiction that is)
Or, well…compelled the mc to plant it. But they’d know exactly where to place it, or have the mc place it, to inflict minimal damage or target a single person.
Well the main argument against it may be that Gray is too obvious since he is the most direct beneficiary of incapacitating Nick, as he’s the big leader guy now. Which would make him a big suspect if this were a normal police case.
I don’t think that’s reason enough to suspect him because of the fact that he wanted the MC to take it with them in the first place, as an excuse to see their father, but wasn’t overly insistent one way or the other
While I don’t agree with the theory, I’d actually argue Gray being laissez faire about where it ends up doesn’t work against it.
It’s a very localised bomb, given it only seriously injured one person - with this theory, either Gray gets a fellow Ment agent (assuming he wasn’t specifically targeting Nick) or he gets the very famous John Wiseman. Pretty damaging to Unity either way, really.
There is quite a few reasons behind this nay (some which were already pointed out by others). But before to that… It’s probably worth mentioning - I’m not interested in Sally as a ROs. Also my Button loves Nick to bits. So this is a point of view where Sally is “just Button’s friend” and relationship with Nick is great.
I made a post with my opinion about Sally/Nick potential relationship before but some things have changed from that time. Mainly my ‘feelings’ towards Sally character/friendship. “I like Sally as a character and my Button’s friend” - I can’t say I agree with this statement anymore and the reason for it is tight with Sally crush on Nick. Honestly… I sadly ended up seeing her more as a rather annoying, fangirl with obsession about Nick then my Button’s true friend. To the point where I felt relieved to have a option to send her home in the last update. It all started in chapter 4 when I was constantly getting the vibe that she is there mostly because of her crush on Nick and not to support her best friend. Sally behavior felt way too “pushy” and not sympathetic for my taste considering the situation. From interrupting the first conversation between John and Button about Nick’s condition with a question that (in my opinion) should be “reserved” for Button Can we see him? (also “we”…) through unnecessary arguing with the gurad to being upset when she couldn’t see Button brother first. At this point I don’t even particularly like Sally as a my Button’s friend anymore.
The biased fact that I absolutely love Nick’s character() and I’m not fond of Sally at the moment is not the only or main motive why I’m on nay for “Snickly”. In general secondary characters, ROs etc getting together subplot is just not “my cup of tea”. Same goes for playing a matchmaker. I know that some people enjoy it (that’s totally fine and valid!), I personally don’t. However the primary reason is that this crush/potential relationship can change Nick/Button dynamic in a way that neither me nor my Button would enjoy. And as I mentioned above “Snickly” seems to already have impact on Sally/Button friendship dynamic. Most of the other reasons were already pointed out here, so I will keep it short… Nick and Sally don’t seem compatible at all, her crush feels more like a rather immature obsession then genuine feelings.
I guess overall I personally both liked and disliked how “Snickly” was handled so far - it made me feel rather negative about Sally’s friendship but in the same time it allowed me to skip the subplot kind that I don’t especially enjoy in games early on.
On the side note:
In regard to the planned changes… I won’t lie, I’m a tiny little bit anxious about the possibility of too much unavoidable “Snickly content” and that it will affect Button/Nick sibling dynamic or Nick’s behavior in general. Tho in the same time I hope for the best and some more positive friendship vibes from Sally. That said… Honestly I just really appreciate that “Snickly” is optional! So thank you Jo for this and also taking under consideration your readers feedback even when it means extra work.
The trigger in Chapter 4 is officially gone, so there will probably only be one opportunity in the future (which won’t be available at all if you send Sally home in Chapter 5).
@Lotta Thanks for the feedback! I should probably mention that sending Sally home effectively cuts off access to her friendship scenes as well as her romance route. It’s for players who don’t to be friends or have her around, since that option more or less confirms that Button only let her remain because she provided the “service” of protecting Button’s brain. (Button can see their friendship as being codependent necessity, but it’s never how Sally’s viewed things.) Interactions with her at Aeon will also change to being distantly polite. Most things Sally can get over, but telling her that you don’t want her nearby because she’s no longer useful is the one thing that the relationship can’t bounce back from. One of Sally’s greatest fears that she’s only valuable as a precog and not as a person (a theme in her relationships will be confirming that she’s worthwhile, and not just valuable because she’s useful).
The good news is that people who pick that option will never have to worry about Snickly!
