Mind Blind (01/31 Demo Update. A Story Where You Are NOT The Chosen One!)

No update, but she posted two extra stories last night, one with some major spoilers for the vengeance route.

Love the game!
I think I found a small gramatic error?
In the first chapter, when you choose to risk the Metro, you have the option to answer the following to Sally:

“What about you? Or is has the ugly uniform changed your mind?”

I believe it should be only has.

Can’t add screenshot because my account is new or something? :frowning:

First time playing, can anyone tell me how to unlock this option?

Chapter 2

“According to The Aeon Student Guide, Unity’s primary objective is prevent a repeat of the mass-scale psychic crimes committed by the North Korean regime.”

“According to our oh-so-unbiased student guide, Unity exists so that Good Ments can stop Bad Ments.”

You have to go to the stat page and click the option for the student guide there before it gets to that part. It won’t give you the option to choose those options unless you’ve actually read/“read” (clicked?) it.

Will the sports variable in chapter 1 be relevant anytime soon?

Will Button have a choice to have a power or is the narrative locked on being mind blind?

For all the Nick/Gray shippers, you see this when Button has trolled Gray’s fan club forums with false rumors in chapter 1:

Gray still hasn’t forgiven you for posting that picture of him and Nick conked out on the couch together after you three had a movie marathon. The two hadn’t been able to go outside for months without paparazzi inquiring about their “relationship” status.

Nick, being Nick, found the whole thing hysterical, even after his then-girlfriend dumped him for not rectifying the rumor. He referred to Gray as “Darling” in public for months.

Gray, in turn, referred to Nick as “arsehole.”

And you referred to the associated press as “amusingly gullible.”

Imagine doing the trolling and then romancing Gray. MC can give an interview saying they did it to distract the press from their own relationship

Their Patreon has had 4 short stories released 2 days ago so the author is still semi active. They maybe working on the game or taking a little break from the coding

My native language is Spanish and I oftenly think in English. I believe it could be very useful for the MC.

I agree. I believe an accommodation wouldn’t be the same as the trope of a disability being magically cured.
I mean, people who use prosthetics, wheelchairs, service dogs, hearing aids, etc. aren’t magically not disabled anymore if they use those things, some even find it a hassle to use it but it can make life easier for others.

At one scene it says that the machine their mom was going to use exists because there’s more telepaths to study while they’re the only zero, but while others aren’t zeroes it doesn’t mean that they are 100% safe from coercion and many would want something that could protect their mind.

(I’m not saying it’s something the author should put because if they want the MC’s disability to not be able to be accommodated that’s their decision.)

What I’m trying to say is. The world if Vengeance was a group that spent their resources in mental protection research instead of making college-aged students explode: :sparkles::bouquet::lotus::tulip::cherry_blossom::hibiscus::rose::rainbow::dizzy::sparkles:

If MC learned a dead language i would be even better. Image learning esperanto or latim… His thoughts would be somewhat safe.

You sound like you’re arguing with Kent

I agree completely though. I’m definitely siding with Vengeance. Honestly a lot of Ment powers seem more a hindrance to people. If you read the codex entries people like Sally often go off the grid because they can’t handle their visions. The only powers I can get behind are Grays (and Empathy… to a point). Grays powers don’t let him perve on people, rape their brains, manipulate their emotions, etc. His powers can only be used to protect (himself and others).

And it’s not like I want to kill the Ments. I love Nick despite his overbearing nature. My Button is excited when he’s in her brain because it’s the closest she’s ever felt to being normal. I’ll just go ahead and take over Vengeance because Reese is a terrible leader. No more blowing people up. Just gonna drop some kinda BRS thingy in the water supply. Or something.

There is a bit in the game where it felt like Jo was teasing a possible ending where Button might be able to become a One. But I’m not sure if that’s good enough for me.

Yeah, I appreciate Gray, really. He’s a good guy and his powers aren’t intrusive. If Gray and Button could leave together and go live somewhere that has no other ments (or on a deserted island), I’d probably go his route. Same for Kent. The rest of them? No thanks. I thought Rosy was awesome until I realized who they really are. After that? No effing way, and it’s made worse by the fact that there can’t be a romance because they’re Button’s teacher, so nothing can happen until years in the future.

On the one hand, it seems wrong to take away their powers completely. On the other, everyone would be safer for it. Personally, I’d rather not take away anyone’s power… I would just want to level the playing field and ensure no one can ever do to anyone what was done to Button. Furthermore, find a way to block everyone’s mind from Ment intrusiveness. Not accidental. Not purposeful. No one has a right to anyone else’s thoughts unless they are given express permission to them. Period.

As for Nick, I like him but his “poor me” bullshit really got on my nerves. Button has to walk around with him invading her mind constantly and he acts like she has some nerve not wanting him judging or commenting on her thoughts. He has no respect for her privacy, individuality, or desire to be free from being mind raped 24/7. Yes, he gave up a lot for her, since the parents bailed, but that doesn’t give him the right to treat her like she doesn’t have the basic rights all humans should have.

As for Button becoming a One… don’t count on that. From what I saw of the ending, Zero will always be a Zero. It’s either learn to live with it or be “evilllll” and join the anti-Ment team. There’s no in between and no escape where you can just go off by yourself to a Ment-free colony and be happy. There’s no crutch to help you defend yourself so you can be self-reliant. You must submit and accept the mindrape if you want to be labeled “good” and not have everyone hate you. And that’s fine. They can hate my MC all they want. She’s done being told she can never be trusted or treated like an equal because she’s a Zero. Better to be labeled an enemy and an outcast than never be able to have a private thought.

Before I get back in. It was updated since last I looked.

My thoughts as Buttons. “Need me to find the spies?! I got a sure fire way!”

Whomever is known and unknown WILL try to leave quickly. Unless they are as bad as my brain. Mildly, all food looks like the worst thing can imagine. Only one of many that’s only mild. If I go further, it becomes AO and at worst, lock them up!

So i won’t go any further.

Maybe I’m just a psychopath but I really don’t see what’s inherently wrong with taking people’s powers away. It would just turn their world into the one that we all live in. Which is also shit to be fair. Button’s mother, Sally, all those people that reject society because they can’t handle their powers… They would be better off without their abilities. Not to mention all of the 1’s and 2’s that live their lives as victims. And then there’s Button.

On another note, has Jo said if there’s going to be a Book 2? I imagine a second book would be really difficult to implement with how the story diverges.
