@Wonderboy not saving the fleet when the empire introduce the superweapon would get weaver and watanabe killed.
Bug in 1.0.5 for iOS. After the Lionheart testing, I choose to keep my Manningham then, during the evac, I attack the capital ships. Later, when I’m ordered to switch to the Lionheart, stat screen reads thus:
"Combat Armature Status
Type: XCA-118 Lionheart
Speed: 3
Armour: 3
Weapon 1: Particle Storm Rifle
Your machine has sustained microfracture damage to its frame. Survivability is reduced. The Lionheart has taken moderate damage."
Now a), the lionheart wasn’t the armature damaged in that battle and b), if it was I wouldn’t have 3 armor, I don’t think.
Got 100 rep. I think that is a good maximum to have. It lets players know that they have action figures made of them in the future!
@Wonderboy:
I’ve fixed that for the next update.
Upgraded and all is coooooool! got 85 respect
One bug, and one complaint. The glove is still put on if you cooperate with the interrogator, and I have to say it was a huge tease when we never saw the Ironside actually do anything in the truce ending. I was hoping that all the stuff with Weaver and Watanabe surviving to help you with Damocles would actually end in some kind of epilogue battle for the sake of coolness!
@Halosammy
So, even if you give up both pieces of intel the interrogator asks for, he’ll still use the shock device? That shouldn’t be happening.
Still happening. I give him all the info, and I get the message that he takes the glove off, but not of him putting it on.
Anyone have the highlander Burial achievement? Don’t really know how to get it.
1.0.6 should also include a fix in the Mopub code, which will help with data usage (though this might only be for Android/AAA users).
Last question for now. What skill checks are used when defending the fleet in the second battle?
Can someone help me save Asadi!! I got it once, but then I restarted it
Now I can’t figure it out now
@kanani40 just don’t separate from your Lancer group(don’t know any other way u can get Asadi killed )
Finally romanced Hawkins, after reading it several times. Had a prescence of 2/3 in the game and a reputation of 85.
Psh! Save Asadi? It’s your duty to sacrifice everyone on your team to save the rest of the fleet and the people of Crown Station!
A bit late on the review bandwagon, but having just finished a SEED + SEED Destiny marathon, I all but screamed when I saw that CoG had gotten a mecha game. The fact it’s by the author of SoI made it an insta-buy.
Let me start off with saying that the world building here is AMAZING - the amount of info included both in game and on the forum goes above and beyond what’s needed to get me engrossed in the story. Though I do have to admit I tended to skip past the more tl;dr sections of tech descriptions, but that’s probably because I tend to be into space operas for the ‘opera’ part rather than the space tech.
The battle sequences were badass too. I could feel my heart pounding the first time I tried to talk Steele down.
And now onto romances! The Hawkins romance was the best to me because A) it’s the longest and most detailed and B) it explored a lot of his personality (And what a personality it is! Badass Char clone + being adorably skittish when the MC starts putting on the charm = instant fave. I just wish I didn’t take my SIX tries to make him see that we’re soulmates ;;orz).
Compared to that, the other romances felt very static and one dimensional.
Sure, Asadi’s was good because he was hot, his scenes were hot (boy was I fanning myself in the climax of his route!) and I have a soft spot for hotblooded, wannabe anime protagonists, but Watanabe and Weaver’s routes fell flat for me.
Watanabe was cute as a button, but I personally felt that his route was a bit too short for him to really grow on me. (And, off topic, I loled SO HARD upon discovering he’s basically based off Amuro.)
Weaver was flat out boring to me - all you ever find out about him is that he’s a pacifist and that he has a dog, nothing to get the romantic tension flowing.
Managing the MC’s stats to get onto each route was pretty easy once I knew who liked what, so I have no criticisms there.
If I had one recommendation to make for your future works, it’s to put a bit more detail + length into the romances? And show the character’s personality a bit more, that sort of thing.
Oh, and well done on the super BAMF Captain Baelyn. There needs to be MOAR strong, iron-willed, female commanders who aren’t just fanservice on legs. Plus, her backstory is A++ and she has some of the best lines. (I nearly spat out my tea when she listed Hawkins as my ‘suitor’. Now PLEASE tell me there’s some hilarious rumors going around the ship that we’ve got some super melodramatic forbidden romance, star crossed lovers thing going on after all our fights together, and that his defection was due to TRUE LOVE.)
Speaking off Asadi, is there any way to get him to join my side during the Damocles epilogue? I can get Watanabe and Weaver no problem, but he insists on remaining with CODEC no matter what I do.
@Halosammy
Give me as many details about this bug as possible. I want to get it fixed properly for the next update.
As for the achievement you were wondering about, here’s a clue:
@Coines
Hello! (And welcome to the forums!)
First of all, I’m glad you enjoyed Mecha Ace, and that goes for everybody. I was a bit apprehensive writing this one, since it was my first time writing wholly out of my “comfort zone”, with things like vehicle combat and romances and *horrified gasp* women!
Feedback regarding romances is especially welcome, seeing as I’m also planning on introducing them in Guns of Infinity, and I need the practice. The plan is to draw out romances a bit more in future, for a given value thereof, so they don’t see quite as flat.
As for Asadi, the implication I was going after was the fact that (s)he’s after the main character’s role as the top ace of the CoDEC fleet. The Damocles ending means that you leave the colonial military, giving him/her a clear shot at being top dog, and that’s not something (s)he’s going to give up for every single one of humanity’s fourteen worlds.
I tell the interrogator everything, and I still get a sentence about him removing a black device from my hand. Also, that picture matches the description of the achievement. That doesn’t really help.
The one issue I’d raise with the romances is, Hawkins aside, they don’t really play into the endings at all. It makes a certain amount of sense that Baelyn wouldn’t neccessarily go out of her way to assign your SO into your service, but some acknowledgement of the ongoing relationship would be nice, especially in those instances where the individual in question is already present.
@Halosammy
The picture also shows the exact action needed to get the achievement.
@Wonderboy
I tried for that, but I guess I’ll try harder next time.
